I concede you have the game, before you are suposed to.
However you didn't answer my question of how is steam "grubbing money" and how are THEY the bad guys for sticking to the date the game maker decided for its release date?
I mean I understand, you have the game, you are mad you can't play it, however, its the game store's fault for selling it early.
Guys, please don't attack the OP. He has made himself clear and the point has been made several times that the game will not unlock until Friday, even if a copy was sold due to a broken street date.

You quoted me so I guess your post was aimed at me, but I'm not the guy who was getting mad about all this. I just wanted to confirm with a picture that they're indeed already selling the game at some shops, which is fine for me since I wouldn't have much time picking up my pre-order at friday anyway

I don't think D-Mich is upset with anyone, I think they are just showing that they too got the game box early. Unlike the OP, they seem to understand that the game was not supposed to be launched yet.
So, I got the pre-ordered retail version of Skyrim as well from a gaming store in Belgium today and I too got the cloth map.
As the OP, I went to the store and got the game, came home and tried to install it right away, then I also saw I needed steam for it to install, but it wouldn't let me (Because it hasn't officially launched yet blabla). Same happened to me when I got my pre-ordered retail version of Dead Island one or two days before its release so I wasn't that surprised now. Kinda annoyed with the fact that it can be played on console with no problem over here tho, but okay I'm used to that by now.
The only difference between Dead Island and Skyrim now is that I was able to preload Dead Island on steam back then, I can't do this with Skyrim now tho, so I'm kinda scared something went wrong and I won't be able to play it on 11-11-11 either, just because I happened to get it early, can someone tell me if this is true or not please?
Are you out of youre mind? Skyrim is not in the Dutch shops!!
Can't you read, release day on ALL platforms is on 11.11.11!!
I feel a shamed being a Dutch guy, when I read this.....
Now in Dutch: Kom je uit een ei ofzo? Skyrim is nog helemaal niet verkrijgbaar in NL...NERGENS!!!
Of ben je gewoon de boel aan het opnaaien hiero?
So if you are upset that you can't play the game.....JUST READ!!!
Not at all you eather live in some remote little village that have a small local store selling 2 games a year or not have been to gameshops today in rotterdam?
In rotterdam word het verkocht in bijna alle shops dus weet niet waar jij vandaan kom, heb zelf net game gekocht in de winkel, gamemania heb hem ge pre-ordered.
A shamed nice:D
Schaam jij je om mij das lachen:P

Get you facts straight before accusing someone and shamed?... why i wonder haha.

Don't forget steamworks contains inbuilt spy/malware and is worse than useless as copy protection so there will be ways around the drm within a few hours of the games release if you don't want to go without that part.

If I recall, steam lets you pre-load the game a day or so before release, not always a week+ before release.

Okay good, thank you.
Worst happens, you'll probably just install it from the cd on launch date like back in the day. I assume steam would let you pre-load a day or so before though.
If I had to guess, Steam might be holding out on the pre-loads while they anticipate and prepare for the large amount of server loads from people downloading Skyrim. But then again, allowing pre-loading a week or so before could only help the server load at launch. =/
100+ replies to a thread where someone doesn't understand what a release date is? You must all be bored
This about sums it up. It is a slow news day, afterall. I think there might have been a big war-game released today too that might be interfering with other coverage.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
Then what's the issue? The game hasn't been officially released, shops are selling the game when they've been asked to release it on the 11th and you are complaining that you should be able to play a game that is supposed to be released on the 11th?
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
This is my first post here ever, despite having been a member for a few months. Mostly I just read the threads and what not.
{mod edit}
EDIT - Realized this was actually my first post.
You dont get my point lol.
Its my first game ever i bought with steam account becouse long term fan of series and for ones i wanne try it then with steam.
But this reason why i HATE STEAM, PS3 players can already play it saw it myself today NO ACTIVATION needed but me PC gamer also pre order the game but i can't play.
For god sake its solo game i should as i done countless years before BUY GAME and play no bloody activation through steam becouse 11-11 lol i dont have any control over my own game anymore ZERO NADA nothing.
If its whining fine i dont care but for me its reason why steam and all those who inflict DRM on games should be boycot by all PC gamers.
{mod edit}
Curious, did the mod edit out all the articles and punctuation of his post, or does he really just not know how to talk?
The fact that he didnt pay attention to the release date aside....
Title says Steam Hacked....what's this all about?
The steam forums suffered from a minor injection attack, which has since been corrected. The steam forum login info is separate from steam account info (provided people didn't re-use the same username/password), so even if the purpotrators got any info (which there's no evidence they did), it shouldn't affect actual Steam accounts.
Meh. Steam. Hate it. Really hope this isn't one of those things where I have to have an online connection to play a single player game. That makes zero sense. I miss the days where a mandatory constant online connection wasn't required and you could download patches at your leisure when you did have a connection. I thought I was buying the game. Not renting. Its like the Big Brother of the gaming industry. The game should work right out of the box when downloaded onto the computer with no other requirements. Meh. I'll wait till the game arrives to see the truth of it and I'll save any complaining for if it turns out to be a pain in the rear.
steam is one of the worst drms out there, forcing you to use it on hard copies is way worse than some lax 5 install limit.
Install steam, install game, activate game, set steam to offline mode. There, you never have to login to steam again to play that game.
Again, I point you to Ubisoft's DRM that forces their hard copy games to authenticate online all the time, not only every time you want to play, but while you play as well. Steam will not boot you out of a game if your connection drops in the middle of playing.
And at least with steam you get the piece of mind that if you lose the game discs you can always re-download the game via Steam.
you understand what one of means right? doesnt matter if theres something worse, steam is up there, what you list is one of the few thing worse than being forced to use steam, there is absolutely no good reason to force you to use steam.
You're not "forced." Most people want to log on through steam each time so that they are connected to their gaming friends. That's one of steam's primary functions. Thus, it is the default setting. If you do not wish to connect through steam, you don't have to.
Then what's the issue? The game hasn't been officially released, shops are selling the game when they've been asked to release it on the 11th and you are complaining that you should be able to play a game that is supposed to be released on the 11th?
The issue would be, PC Gamers have to wait and console gamers can play right now. I don't know why they don't add a feature to lock the game on consoles as well because it is pretty unfair that they can ignore the rules while PC gamers wait.
So, the OP is upset that he can't play a game before the release date and is railing against steam?
Perhaps board games are more in line for for the OP, since he obviously can't grasp basic concepts like not being able to play before a release date. My 4 year old niece loves Candyland, perhaps you should give it a try.
Just because some people are breaking the rules does not give you the right to do so too. Grow up and accept the fact that you are going to have to wait until the 11th to play like everyone else.

I guess he bought the PC version and since the PC version uses Steam as DRM/Registration he can't play the game until the 10th (Steam changed the released date to the 10th for those that don't know).
