I might not be following EVE Online closely lately but what is being released with new expansion apart from tier 3 BC and some minor gfx and other tweaks?
What is the actual content of expansion?
Comments
The re-nerfing of Null.
The new BCs will be reduced to thier replacement cost.
EVE is the never ending cage match where we club each other over the head over and over. That isn't changing with Crucible. It's an expansion for people already playing EVE and enjoying it as is. Its actually good for EVE.
A: Three new CQ's (minor addition but ejoyable)
B: Balance fixes (hybrid weaponry, some T2 ammo , destroyers, capital ships, etc.)
C: the new BC's
some changes to certain space exploration aspects (buffed anoms, buffed magnometric sites)
E: Engine trails, reskin of many ship models, new warp effect and new nebula's
F: PoS tweaks which will make them less painful to maintain.
G: FW changes (though no precise data has been shared so my guess is that it won't be part of the first patch)
H: some other minor features.
So yes overall we're talking about many little things. But you see sometimes it's better to fix/add many little things here and there than add new shiny content while leaving the rest broken. Will it be awesomesauce? probably not. But it will be good as many things they're adding are really necessary.

I can agree, as a former EVE player looking for a good reason to come back this expansion isn't it.

I also left and came back about a month ago. I understand that people have their reasons for leaving, CCP has given lots in 2011, but I dont know how they could do any better than they are with this expansion.
Theres been a lot of net new the last few years, its time to adjust what is already there.
Sort of MEH myself, but the Naga does look good, my main issue with all this and with every EVE promise on the next cycle of patching is, well to be honest the track record for them is " Here are the patch notes, however 1/2 the stuff never appears and the other 1/2 will only 1/2 work as described"
In first round I am going to enjoy the improvements made to combat boosters and exploration sites while looking at the new CQs and nebulas. Then I will play around with the new event missions. That should buy me time until the FW changes are in place.
There's lots of thing in this patch people wanted for quiet some time, but the thing that would me bring back to playing EvE isn't one of them.
Battlecruisers with the firepower of battleships is sure awesome, but it won't reduce the costs at all actually. Maybe some 10% as the hull is a little cheaper, but insured battleships don't cost that much more either. It's the T2-equipment that you can't insure and a BC with BS-weapons... there's no ifference anymore then. Trainingtimes are aswell the same for BC and BS.
The new Nebulas sure will look awesome, but it's nothing that changes the game, just like the rest of the many fixes (hybrid-weapons, POS-fuel, anomalies, etc).
What EvE needs is a revamp of the sovereignity-mechanics, moon-goo and the true-sec to make it worth playing again for lot's of people, who don't wanna see 0.0 controlled by a very few big powerblocs.
To attract new players... well... those interested in running around with their avatars doing stuff or those interested in flying around Freelancer-style will never get attracted, so there's very little room for that. And EvE sure won't do away with the FFA-PvP aswell, or install dungeons or whatever.
So no, I don't see anything that would actually attract more players then those, who allready play(ed) EvE.
At least we are not having to pay anything more for the expansion (besides our time).
Anything to fix or update the game is always something for the better. Either your playing the game or not, some tweaking of the game mechanics is always a positive.
Cheers!

Looking for that next MMO
The point is, nothing is really being fixed so instead of regular expansion consisting of new shiny + small shinies and tweaks, you get lots of small shinies and tweaks... Overall the expansion isn't interesting, there isn't anything you could be looking forward to - being new player or vet, and I do not think it's particularly better.
Thanks for the link though, it's great.
Actually things are getting "fixed". Capital and super capital ships are being rebalanced (fix) , hybrid guns are too (fix), other overall balance issues being fixed. PoS's are being fixed (changes have been asked for a long time), and normally FW should get a fix too. From what i heard the CQ performances are getting somewhat fixed (slightly better fps). These are all fixes. And the many small shinies, while being small have been asked for for quite some time.
This is basically an expansion where instead of leaving everything previously released as it is and releasing one big shiny they stop supporting when still half broken after a while they give many small shinies people wanted and also long asked for balance fixes.
While this might not be as appealing for people who left eve due to boredom or whatever this is good to make people stay. (like has been mentioned)

I'm on the "meh" fence as well. I haven't seen anything that will bring me back yet. Not knocking any of the fixes/changes and they are all needed and some very long overdue *cough*hybrids*cough* Personally its the FW aspect that I'm very much interested in but the lack of info coming out about it has me suspecting that we won't be seeing anything in this round of bug fix... err this Expansion.
It would be a huge improvement if blasters got fixed, because they are indeed broken, but that isn't happening.
Well, they're finally acknowleding that there is a problem. This is the first round of attempting to fix Hybrids. So, jury is still and will be out for a while.
Acknowledging blaster issue after all those years? How many more years they will need to find out what the issue actually is and that flat numbers boost isn't a solution?
Sorry to tell you but those guys at CCP have no idea what they are doing - at least when it comes to balancing...
The entire game is flat numbers...
The main problem with blasters was no being able to track within the ranges they had to operate at and fitting issues. They also had the issue of being too slow to utilize their range. These are being adressed.
If your talking about pve balance... who cares. If your talking about fleet v fleet, the rokh would outplay the maelstrom with the new stats if people had it trained. (go find the change dump in sisi and import it into pyfa or w/e) Blasters work fine as solo/small group gank platforms that do or die by range dictation. Rannis/myrm are pretty high on the list as solo gank boats and the diemost is a hard to fly but very rewarding platform.
Between time dialation for large cluster fuck fights and completely reevaluating a weapon type, adding t2 links, boosting dessies across the boat, almost all gallente's agility, and adding an new ship whose sole purpose is to die terribly in the hands of bad pilots (no tracking or ehp) combat will be a bit different. Also removing insurance payouts for suicide gankers seems to effect high sec a bit.
Sorry if its the same game, if you don't like eve this won't help, but its the first decent expansion since apocyphta

No point in AF, destroyer buff makes all frigates completely obsolete and once again Minmatar ships ridiculously imbalanced - Trasher...
That is what happens when you think the game is about flat numbers only and make balancing based on excel sheets instead of game knowledge and working concept.
The point of this expansion is to fix the game. Improve the balance, fix bugs and problems with the UI. You know... stuff that should've been good when they released them.
...and bring in ships that will define large fleet battles for months to come.

As a lone industrialist in hi-sec, I see almost no new content in Crucible that justifies my return to the game. Slightly improved graphics, a couple more rooms with no purpose other than making my GPU suck up more wattage and put out heat when I'm either semi-AFK or have my head deep in the market browser anyway, some interface tweaks that should have been there to begin with and a handful of new ships that seem to have been designed for PvP from what I can gather and thus of little use to me, other than being a pretty shuttle when going from A to B. That's frankly less content than what I expect from the average LOTRO non-expansion update these days and those have been pretty darn slim lately compared to what they used to be. Yet CCP calls this an expansion.
To make matters worse, CCP screwed over PI with the introduction of Player Owned Customs Offices (POCO). It's hard to say what will happen until the dust has settled, but from what I can gather, there's a real possibility that hi-sec PI may not be viable anymore or at least severely nerfed and lo-sec PI could become a real hassle for the little guy if it turns into a grief fest, which, knowing how some EVE players love that aspect above else, it most likely will. That could essentially mean that Crucible has LESS content for me to play with. How could I possible justify returning to EVE based on that?
So until I see some content that favors my playstyle instead of going against it, I'll remain unsubscribed.

You're doing it wrong.
Playing EVE solo is one of the least fun activities I can think of, and being an industrialist well I think I'd rather be shot.

Saying "You're doing it wrong" and then not even following up on what I'm supposed to be doing instead makes your post about as useless as a sheet of soggy toiletpaper. You also seem to forget that it's very much a matter of playstyle and that somebody might enjoy a playstyle that you can't stand. Likewise, what you think I should be doing might very well involve a playstyle that I hate just as much as you hate being a lone industrialist.

CCP promised industrial expansion for years, probably as long as they were talking about WIS. 2008 should be the year but it did not take place and I do not think it will in any (near) future, if ever.
I think it is still being discussed whether PI changes are intentional or it is a bug. Who knows, anything is possible with CCP these days...
Crucible is a lackluster.
O iknow one thing. Me as solo player most of the time would ask only for one thing. I would like to see instanced missions, for me is not much fun when i do im my pve faction battleship missions and some guy enter with pvp ship to blow me up. So i got to fight npc and that player, and even if i would be able to win he will escape becuse i do not have warp disruptor in mission.
