Resub Disaster

Kamandi777Kamandi777 Member UncommonPosts: 223

Resubbed to a game that is worse than when I left it.  I left after they started the first so caled "event" after launch.  The one that basically stopped a player from earning planar currency.  It was such a silly situation I unsubbed.

Well I thought I would try again, to see if they had pulled it together.

They did not.

1.  Logged on with my level 22 priest in Gloamwood.  In less than 5 seconds a 50 rogue one shotted me me.  Next server.

2.  I am in Granite Falls and the NPC messages say a Death Invasion is happening.  All the rifts are bugged.  This also ties in with a quest called "Tools of Destruction" that appears broken, yet is supposed to be doable if you farm death rifts.  One of the two drops needed to complete the quest do drop from death rifts, but not the other...at least I can't seem to get any.

3.  The starting area is EMPTY except for bots farming mats.  And you can't finish a rift (that isn't bugging) by yourself.  The final stage won't pop.

4.  When I logged in my mailbox was full of "rewards".  Of these rewards, only 2 had any use whatsoever.  A spider mount (which is hot) and a portable bank (which is meh but could be useful....if crafting meant anything).

5.  There are still more VENDORS for rep gear than are countable with modern mathematics.  And just as I left, by the time you grind the rep for the gear, you have better greeens from drops.

6.  I opened a ticket and they emailed me telling me I opened a ticket. and that they hoped this email would help.  There was no message in the email.  Just a confirmation I had opened a ticket.  No subsequent response in game or out.

7.  The most accesible gear upgerades come from getting the rifts currency, but if no one is in the zone forget it.

8. I did one of the LFG instances.  As we were moving to the second boss, we aggroed the final mob between us and that boss.  The mob disappeared.  I looked up and he was circling a stalagmite on the celing of the instance.  As soon as we attacked the boss, the bugging mob landed right on the healer.  Wipe.  Guess what.  We rez and it happens AGAIN.

9.  I went to the warfront.  The Black Garden.  I have no idea how that bg is supposed to work Our score kept going up, but I have no idea what the object of the game was .  Now let me say before I cancled my sub I OWNED that bg.   I had the swettest little pvp priest.

10.  In the Defiant area Freemarch is much more difficult to navigate than the Guardian area.  it took me about 20 minutes to find the Weaponsmith trainer.  Oh and if you are a weaponsmith, your work areas are in two diferent camps.  Just stupid.

11.  I have been writing this post off and on for 30 minutes, and STILL the npc messages are yelling about a death invasion that isn't happening.

12.  Finally, there is apparently a new instance for the 50s.  The final boss is disabled and has been since I resubbed.  Hmmmm.

Why resub to Rift when there  is...Skyrim?

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.

Almost every point is not an issue in the game if you chose to do it in a different way.

For example, on the Defiant side, all of the crafting machines can be found in Meridian in a single room.  The easiest way to get gear while leveling is from the quests. On a busy server, at level 50,  the rift invasion events are completed quickly and  you get a lot of currency drops from rifts.  You really do not need a lot of planar currency before level 50.  There are pvp and pve servers.  You can transfer each toon once a week at no cost to a different server, provided the toon is at least level 15 (from memory).  Some servers are much busier than others.

The game is not a  new release, so most of the population is in the level 50 areas. While many players do play lower level alts, some less popular leveling zones do not have enough players to defeat a rift invasion event.

    1. Thats the way it is on a pvp server. As long as your over level 15 you can transfer to a pve server and not worry about being ganked.

    2. One of the drops, comes from rift monsters, another from invader monsters and the last from the event collossal boss.

    3. Most people are maybe concentrating on their main character now ever since 1.5 came with planar attunement. So not as many people making alts. The final stage will only pop if you finish the previous stages in the alotted amount of time. If you don't finish in time the rift will close immediately after that stage is complete.

    4. Opinion, your allowed to have it. :)

    5. Each area has a different faction for rep. I was never able to take advantage of their vender goods either.

    6. I've never opened a ticket so I don't know how long it would take for a responce.

    7. True, although sometimes higher level people will show up and help out a event to unlock an achievement. As long as you take some part in the event you will get the event reward. Might have to get a couple hits on the event collossal.

    8. Sometimes alot of aoe attacks will bring mobs in from other rooms, or through walls. At level 50 there are a few spots you need to be careful with in certain dungeons. I don't know why they haven't fixed them yet...

    9. Right now the black garden warfront is an alternate version, called stockpile: the black garden. It changes up the objectives. I think it will be like that for the weekend and then it goes back to regular version.

    10. I play guardian.

    11. Sometimes before an event begins theres some pop up text to let you know that it is coming.

    12. Was enabled after yesterdays hotfix and was disabled since wednesday when they released 1.6. It was only disabled for 2 days.

Hope this helps explain some things.

Indeed. But it pretty much kills out-of-dungeon PvE leveling on PvP servers. Personally I didn't mind because I leveled in warfronts and dungeons. But IIRC one of the goals was to have rich world PvP on PvP servers. Well, nothing kills world PvP like ganking that isn't kept in check.

P.S. I admit I did my share of ganking too but I tried to choose targets about the same level as my own toon. Many were easy kills but some pwned me. And that's what PvP is about - you win some, you lose some. Ganking lowbies shouldn't be allowed because it's disruptive behavior. Pretty much in-game trolling, nothing else.

MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).

That still sucks, it is something they should have learned from WAR who had the same problem but worse.

It is something that needs fixing and by far worse of OPs issues.

I am not really sure what you do about it thou. Players pick a pvp server for just the extra bit of excitement knowing that a enemy  possiblely lurks around the next corner. Every game that has open pvp has this happen.

I really enjoyed hunting gankers on my WoW mage (human perception ftw). I killed a DK who was ganking in stranglethorn, once so many times, he created a toon to gripe at me. Even thou, he was the same level. He had no more of a chance vs me, than the lowbies did vs him. I had one of the best geared mages on the server. What is fair and who gets to define the term?

How long are posts like this going to continue? Skyrim is indeed a fantastic game. You get it. I get it. We all get it.

It is not relevant to a single thing in this thread.

I read this block and think you are talking specifically about PvP while the two people above you are talking about empty zones and how to fix that.

Loke is correct and it is something they should have taken from Warhammer, giving that they have plenty of ex-Mythic employees at Trion working on Rift. Trion did learn something but they chose the wrong thing to focus on.

Trion rightly opened extra servers on Launch Day. The crush was intense and there were people tripping over others constantly. Every server had high pops doing invasions and rifts and still needed more room which Trion handled correctly. The problem is what Trion did after that.

Fearful of what people would say if they started shutting down and merging servers in the typical fashion, Trion tried to hide it by offering "unlimited server changes" to players and then not allowing people to start new toons on the ones they were "restricting" (for lack of a better word).

What happened was some people did leave those servers but they didn't transfer, they quit. Some transferred out but it still wasn't enough to make the ones they went to much better. So people kept hopping around every week and rifts/invasions suffered.

If Trion had simply closed servers and not allowed people to switch around so often, they would have had servers full of people still ready to do invasions at many levels. Instead they have what they have now with sparse servers and individuals moving around that don't effectively fill in the gaps.

If they had just shut down a portion and designated those players where to go like usual, servers would have been more stable. But now players are used to moving whenever they want and that makes for instability.
