Hey guys im new here, i just finished my weekend beta SWTOR IS AMAZING.

i have not slept for 72 hours only took a 3 hour nap in the beta, sadly the beta has came to an end. I was addicted to it from the beginning, and could not pry myself away from the monitor. SWTOR is truely amazing.

I have not had that feelign since the world of warcraft was released, Bioware has outdone itself.

I think Blizzard is scared, they are really scared of SWTOR, and rightfully so....or world of warcraft should be scared of swtor.

Am I the only one who is waiting Lineage2 EU F2P more than SWTOR? I tried the beta test for a couple of hours and I am still not impressed by the game, gets boring pretty fast. Honest opinion, not trolling.

Well, I doubt it is sarcastic.  It is their first post.  They either creatied the account because they are a fanboy, or because they are a troll looking to stir something up.  Of course, the WoW comments lead me to believe that the later is more likely.

Huh?  That is a 5 year old game. Why would anyone be waiting for it more than something new?   There is only so much you could have played in a couple of hours, but if you were bored, yeah, go play Lineage 2.

i liked the game. it has some rough spots to clean up but its got a ton of potential. its basically an updated WOW with a star wars skin, but i am ok with that. if you actually take the time to go through the story, even the grind makes sense. but i know a lot just skip the story

    I don't know.

Personally I liked RIFT much more than TOR.

Better graphics, better combat, Superior dungeon design, Dynamic content, Crafting was better, Class System was much better.

Honestly even though TOR has voice acting i even found the actual questing better in RIFT which is pretty bad when you think about it since both WoW and Lotro kick RIFTs ass in quality quest content.

No you arent,  I loved L2 but time and family meant I didnt have the time for it,   I'd certainly play L2 f2p more than this though looking forward to it going f2p where the time I can play isnt measured against a subscription, TOR is just that little to bland on a number of levels.

Quests aside class quest -  aside a couple on tatooine they really are dull

    Animations - dull

Char creation - dreadful, how people can say this its not as good as should be,  its outright terrible I have seen better char creations in "Chinese Generic MMO 3 Dynasty of F2P crap"

Itemisation - its rare to find someone of the same class not running round in the exact same items at any level.

PVP - unbalanced to heck just take Sage or Sorc to faceroll

It lacks so much individualism that its more like clone wars regardless of class .

It does have some truly great features but they are overshadowed by its complete lack of any depth and individualism.

Because L2 actually was more fun to me than SWTOR when I was playing it, dunno why, but thats how it is for me, 5 year old game or not :)

Why can someone go "this game rocks because of this and that" no.. it has to be "this game rock lol @ blizzard you will burn in hell lol .. lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SWTOR's quest are extremely below average compared to WoWs.

I know the stories are nice due to the NPC interactions via spoken dialog but think about the actual quest that you have to complete in SWTOR, then think back to all the crazy shit you did in WoW, or the epic quests in Lotro.

SWTOR pales in comparison. It does do a good job via voice acting to mask its sub-standard questing but once you peel that away its mehh.

I don't think you played much at all. Questing in SWTOR I've found is FAR superior to WoW. Even a lot of WoW fans agree to that.

I have to agree. The Class Quests were great, much better than any other MMO, especially for Bounty Hunter (for me), but the side quest were so plain and had very little magic in them. I actually hate that every single quest is a Cutscene, many don't need it at all.

How much do I need to play to get an accurate opinion of a game mechanic? I had two level 20+ characters one on each side.

Dialog is nice but when all you're doing is running to a map cord clicking an item, killing ten of these or waiting for a certain number of items to drop it gets a tad underwhelming even if the NPCs are voiced.

If there is one thing i really hated about the beta it was that again there was the "Better/worse then WoW" conversations. STOP IT! QUIT IT! SHUT UP! Seriousely both sides shut up. I played WoW for 7 years and it got boring for me so i look for a new MMORPG and SWToR will do fine for me, i like the universe, i love the looks and the whole story mode. If you prefer WoW over this fine, thats your opinion good for you keep playing WoW but don't come to every freaking beta of other games and shout how much the game sucks compared to WoW. Especially when you fail to realise that WoW wasn't the first MMORPG ever either yet WoW fanboys always shout WoW invented it..ugh.....

But anti WoWers shut up too and be realistic. WoW can't be beaten, for one simple reason. If you want to beat WoW you don't need more playing members as WoW has atm, you need to have a active community over 12 million players for a few years. Each year you need to have more active accounts then WoW had in the same time span. So if WoW had like 8 million players in 3 years, then your game needs 9 million and if WoW had 12 million active accounts after 5 years and kept them for 2 years atleast then your game needs 13 million active accounts after 5 years and keep them for longer as 2 years.

All this WoW beater/ WoW clone crap is the biggest BS in game history. It can't be a WoW clone cause WoW wasn't orriginal either, it was just the most populair MMORPG who was a revolution in MMO history cause it was the first MMORPG that convinced none MMORPG'ers to play the game, not one game can take that away anymore and there for becoming a WoW beater is BS too. And 80% of the people who shout with every MMORPG that its a WoW beater leaves in the first half year of the new MMORPG just to return to WoW. Cause thats something i noticed as well. The biggest "WoW sucks boo" gamers are mostly those who played it for many years and do return again everytime.

So can we like just like for what SWToR is and for godsake stop comparing it to WoW in good or bad ways? You don't like SWToR but WoW more, fine, i like battlefield more then CoD. You love SWToR? Fine so do i yet you don't hear me shout its gonna be a WoW beater and blizzard being afraid. Cause kid, Blizzard aint affraid. They have seen this many times now, a new MMORPG comes out and many people move there, but they still got atleast 10 million players and as soon as they trow out another expension the memberships rise up again. Warhammer online managed to pull away allot of WoW gamers....and then the first month was over and half of them returned to WoW again, then another huge part came back the month after when the Lich king expension was released.

No doubt that SWToR will have many players, but stay realistic and lets all just enjoy the games we enjoy and leave each other alone.

Lol Wow doesn't survive because it is good,it is EASY and MANY games have already been better than Wow.

I can however see if you went from Wow >SWTOR you might think SWTOR is the greatest, however  ihave played and seen just about every single last mechanic/quest idea any game can offer. So for me SWTOR was not that intriguing.

I will admit i did have some fun during Beta and it is an OK game. However after a couple weekends i feel i have already seen all i need to see and the game already lost it's NEW feeling and lustre.

To call the game th ultimate or even amazing, you would have to elaborate on the games design and explin how it is different, better or even creative.

It is a nice size world, quite a bit to discover and a decently filled in world. However it is the games CORE systems that are just average and imo soemtimes lacking badly.

Don't get me started on Skyrim either ..lol,YES SWTOR is miles better than Skyrim, that is not why i am saying the game is average.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I have to agree with this.  Story and good dialogue options are the best part of the game and I really enjoyed them.  Unfortunately, probably something like 90% or more of my time playing the beta went straight into combat...and the combat system is a boring drag where the specific quest objectives (between cut scenes) are the same crap all the other wow-esque MMOs do.  The major problem I have with the game is they didn't innovate at all in the part of the game you spend most of your time.

Unfortunately, there are NOT any MMOs out there that are better than WoW.  Part of the reason WoW has done so well with little changes or innovation is because they haven't had any decent competition.  Heck, most of the "innovations" they have made have been to mimic other MMOs that have come out or are coming out.  It's just a really polished MMO in a sea of unpolished crap, with a few niche games thrown in that appeal to a smaller number of people by virtue of their design.

I will say that SWTOR seems like it's actually polished enough that it should actually give WoW some competition and hopefully this will lead to more innovation -- but I imagine GW2 will do more in this regard.  Based on WoW, I expect SWTOR to be able to capture and hold millions of players which is 10+ times better than other western MMOs except for WoW (yeah, other western MMOs are that niche or that bad).

Let me say this about WoW after playing it for 7 years/

WoW has given me the most epic moments ever in any of the dozens of mmo's i played.

WoW has given me alot of online friends

WoW has set a milestone for any mmo studio that wants to be succesfull

WoW has been and still is King of the Hill since 2005

You may dislike the fantasy theme wow has

You may dislike anything that has to do with WoW

But you must admit that Blizzard has been making epic games in their history, from Rock and Roll racing on the console to Starcraft and the warcraft franchise.

With that said alot of us can agree that since their main developer team left to work on TITAN their whole empire is slowly crumbling down.

They work hard up to WoTLK to grow bigger and bigger but after Arthas died the people seemed to notice how dull and repetitive WoW has become.

We got SWTOR incomming and so far i disliked SWTOR ALOT, but this beta had me turned over 190 degrees.

I did Black Talon with a few American players ( I am from the netherlands) and man what an epic run it was.

That feeling i missed in WoW for many years came back to me in this Beta of SWTOR.

Iam a pessimist <--spelling -_- ? or let me say it this way, you need to be from the best of the best to convince me your worth my money.

Warhammer - Aion - Rift - all failed me and wasnt worth my time.

SWTOR on the other hand can be a new King of the Hill if they play it right and WoW keeps pushing out trash packs.

People are bored to death in WoW, and when you got such a massive playerbase and you come out with the next best thing your going to be HOT :)

Cataclysm + MoP come at the worst posible time for Blizzard, and SW might harvest the fruit in december.

I cannot wait to play SWTOR again, and if you would have asked me this 4 months ago i would almost laugh you to death when you would say SWTOR is a good mmo.

How things can change in such a short time :)

Not really.  While there is combat and loot in almost all RPGs, most quests are not "get X drops from mob A" or "kill Y of mob B" or "Interact with Z of world item C".

Let's go waaaay back to Baldur's Gate (the following is as best as I remember it).  You come across a farm.  You are asked to kill the Ankegs that have invaded it.  Once you kill them they are DEAD and the farm is clear.  You don't have to "kill X" because they don't respawn.  Instead you are asked to permanently change the game world and so you do that.  That's one difference between traditional RPGs and MMOS.

Another would be that the combat systems are vastly different and imho, vastly more rewarding and deep in normal RPGs.  There's also a heck of a lot less grind even in the oldest of RPGs, because there's no need to artificially inflate playtime to encourage monthly fees (since there are no monthly fees).

I suppose Z3R01 didn't touch on all this, but I think that's what he was getting at and probably a bit more besides.
