Hey, im looking to start on a new MMORPG so I decided to download this 14 day DAoC free trial. When I signed up they asked me for my credit card number up front. I think its kind of odd to ask someone their number before you're gonna start billing them, so im concerned. Does anyone know if the trial is some kind of scam? I just want to make sure I didnt miss some kind of fine print so i dont end up getting billed if i dont subscribe past the free trial.

In short, no, it's not a scam. Mythic is one of the biggest companies of MMORPGs. Many games nowadays require a credit card to validate a few things (for example, age.). It's hard to find a game that doesn't actually require a credit card.
However, as someone who has done the exact same 14 day free trial, I can say that no, it's not a scam, as long as you deactivate your account before the 14 days are up. Otherwise, they will charge you the regular monthly fee. Just thought I'd stress that point in case you didn't read that part.

Just to back this up, I accidentally cancelled my account a day late and the customer service folks were nice enough to refund my money when I told them it was a mistake. Say what you want of Mythic, their customer service ROCKS.
The comeback to camelot program is open to anyone that had a retail account in the past no cc info needed just so you know.

Can someone please make me a sig. I would like it to have something to do with an eagle(the bird) Somewhere near the eagle can you put the words "Global Defense Initiative". Could you also have the line "If you can't buff up, don't step up!". Thanks!
Private Message me about it!
What I did, I gave them my credit card number, and when I got the game loaded and all, I went to the billing screen and hit cancel billing and a message came up saying something like "After your 14 day trial is up, you'll not be billed" and it let me finish playing the game for the next 14. I don't know if that is still how they do it, I did that back in April.
