DC universe online. Yey or ney?

Linus41Linus41 Member UncommonPosts: 15

What do you guys think of DC universe online. It will relaunch as a FTP game with some restrictions. Do you think it will be a great game or is it just postpone it's death?

Let me know...

I'm not gonna play it for sure, but I think going 'Freemium' will do a lot of good to the game and attract more players than when it was subscription only. I'm not saying it'll skyrocket, because the 'main' MMO in the super-hero genre (CoX) is Freemium now as well.

I'm only wondering... What will this imply for the PS3 version of the game? Will it be distributed free now, can the ones that bought their PS3 version for a lot of money get a refund..?

  • Linus41Linus41 Member UncommonPosts: 15

It will be downloadable at the playstation store for free. Dunno about that refund probably not.. Maybe they'll get some extra's in the game. I think they get premium acces. But not the legendary acces... unless you keep paying 15 dollar a month.

Ofcourse it a yey! It is one of the coolest MMO lauched.. We all dream't to be a superhero and this is it. Well, there are restriction for f2p players unlike for those who pay why? because those who pay -> doubles the money they pay just to play the game and considering they really must be a VIP.

I haven''t played it and not sure if I want to, even free.  What is sad is those who bought the game and now people are able to DL it for free?  How does that make them feel?  I guess its no different than all the other games that I bought and now people can get it for free since it went free to play.

The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.

i believe as a Freemium model it will be way more succesful.... but i will play it only if the free restrictions are less annoying that the ones in Everquest 2 Extended.....

It will be way more popular indeed. But I think I will go for the premium version. You get less restrictions and you get it permanently when you spend for 5 euro in their shop.

Why WOULDNT you play it?  its free.

Just play it until you realize the game has about 2 weeks of worthwhile content... Im a *lifetime subscriber* (bad mistake and as an original beta tester I *really* should have known better, but trusted they'd HAVE to get better) and I played it for about 2 mths before I was done.  In that time I got about a dozen characters to 30.  Its incredibly easy really and then the entire game becomes an endless, and hugely mindless, grind.  Normally I just *ignore* gear grinds, but in DCUO you kind of cant because the content is too thin and *not* grinding puts you at a staggering disadvantage in PVP.

Play it until you're over it.  Will be worthwhile considering it will cost you $0

DCUO is the only triple A title of seen where the *free trial* is literally enough to be completely done with the game

It was a "ney" as subscription based MMO.

    Now, as F2P, it's definitely a "f*ck yey!"

Even as a F2P game, DCUO isn't worth the download time and HD space on my PC. image

It's ok , fun as a F2P. Only pc game I actually use a controller for......mouse/keyboard in this game will lead to early stage arthritis with all the button mashing. I played it off and on, mostly out of boredom.

Not sure why this October thread got resurrected, but hey... may as well join in the fun!

What Naqaj said.  A total blast... for about 20-ish hours.  A great single player game that has some multiplayer content, as well.

I don't care for the super hero nonsense, at all - but combat and flight is great times.

    Not to mention boobies.

Playing F2P for 2 days now, and since LOTR it's the first game that is free and that you really can play. Love the customization and the whole scenario. Unfortunately the chat system is far from perfect, so there's not much socialising possible. On the EU Server 50% of the crowd speak neither english nor german, and they all wanna be heroes, so it's sometimes hard for a villain to find someone to group with - but I found a nice league now, and I guess, I will go on, Right now.

Im having fun playing it, but mainly because im a DC and MARVEL fan. I spend more time trying to clone some of my favourite heroes in the character creation page than i do playing the game.

Does have some interesting ideas, and while falling in the same mechanics than many other games of the genre, does bring some slight changes to its combat system.

I got 3 lvl30 chars, and while PvP is alot of fun it tends to grow a bit boring to play some scenario setups. Open world PvP can be a way to relax from playing those scenarios. PvE offers nothing new.

But i sure do love having a chat with Supe and Batman hehe

Not worth the monthly sub for a long period of time, and even though im paying it to test the Light and Electric power set and liking it, it does not feel, in my opinion, that the F2P model adopted for this game correctly serves the interests of players, mostly because on the way expansions are treated.

So, maybe paying for 1 or 2 more month max so i can try all different power sets at max level and finish some duos and raids im missing, and ill be moving on.
