Lineage 2: EU Open Beta Begins

Innova has announced that its free to play version of Lineage II has kicked off with its open beta as of earlier today. Players can register on the Lineage II EU site and can find localized versions of the game in English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish and Turkish.
“Lineage II is already played and loved by millions across the world, and with our free-to-play service many more will be able to discover Lineage II at its very best withGoddess of Destruction,” said Gevork Sarkisyan, CEO of Innova. “Our challenge is to provide Europe with the best quality gaming experience, tailored to the needs of each territory, completely free to play.”

Wait what?
I just played Lineage 2 Goddes of Destruction yesteday on the EU server, how can they make a beta for something which is already a full version out of...
I'm so confused now...
What you played yesterday is on the NCWest EU server, which is actually located in Austin (TX). Innova will host 'the real' EU servers.
Ah alright, I didn't know that.
Hmm, that is kind of wiered. Oh well, I'll be looking forward to some real servers here in EU then

No forum available for EU players. Only 1 download button on the website. And that one WON'T INSTALL on my system (needding MS Visual C++ 2008/2010 which I'm 100% sure is installed on my system). Way to go!
Tried that over a dozen times - not working. In the end a friend of mine (from Naia NCWest server) came up with the sollution to remove my old 2010 C++ installation and then give it a go again. Working withouth a glance.
About the forum... Would be nice if they linked it from the L2.eu site
All I can say: if you are from europe. Steer clear form Innova servers.
NCSOFT official servers have very low ping and there's pretty much no difference in terms of lag on playing on Innova ones or NCSOFT ones.
However NCSOFT wins hands down in both community management and player community itself. Innova on other hand embodies a LOT on w hat is bad with mmo companies nowadays. Its Innova is like what would happen if every f2p game company combined with Activision and appointed Lord British as its head.

I disagree, played my previous character on Naia for a bit. Had some delay that wasn't any fun. Target a mob and it take 0,5-1 second before you actually get it on target. Some attacks didn't get animated because of the delay. Sure it's not much of a big deal in PvE but for PvP it would make all the difference. Also made a new character on one of the new servers to check it out. Was the same thing there.
On the other hand I will not touch the Innova servers either. That security program seems so damn dodgy tbh. I simply don't trust them for various reasons.
Which is a shame I was really looking forward to some new content in L2.

Kinda depends on where you live in Europe I think. I used to play on Devianne (where Naia is located now as well) and had a ping of ~90ms. Very playable for me. But I can imagine that Polish, Czech, Greek and others in the Eastern regions of Europe will have severe lag issues...

i preffer to stick with the NC's european servers. i have bad experience with russian devs and players...
yes and it will be full of russians spamming chat about the glory of communist russia..no thanks
i had trouble downloading the game...problems installing it...and most of all it keeps on crashing at launch , showing up a window about "we are sorry for the inconvinience...blah blah".

I am sure you characters will be wiped? I see no use in playing there then just to have my character whiped.
More discussion on NCSoft EU servers vs Innova EU servers would be appreaciated because i started on NC EU servers and am confused right now if i should wait for the Innova servers. I am sure many other people are in my position right now so it would help us all.
And will there be a wipe?
Gross cultural generalisation aside... Russia has it's own severs, and just has had a new one opened.
Why on earth would they play the EU ones?
And Innova are not a 'dev' for this game...
With that all also aside... I will be playing on the Innova servers to get an English speaking server that plays on EU times (assuming they will be running seperate language servers for German, French etc), and for the fact that I get to leave Gameguard, and everything that means, with NCsoft.
Innova also seem to give a shit about hacks and bots, which NCsoft have never done.
Black_isle, I would play the beta on Innova right now with the assumption of a wipe at launch. I don't base that on official info, but it seems likely to me personally.

All you are basically saying is that Innova will suck at running this because they are Russian.
pretty much...as i say i'm talking from personal experience. a bitter one on top of that.
i played little bit on innova's beta server too and the chat was flooded with russian speaking players, cursing averyone trying to tell them to speak english.
so, as i said: good luck!

As the things are now - even 3 non EU servers from NCsoft , are plagued with non english speaking players. Italian, polish, russian ...
And those are not even EU servers !
I dont dare to imagine what will be on Inova servers.
Towards the red... after logging in today I haven't seen that at all.
Lots of other languages, sure, but like I say hopefully that will be reduced by having lang regionalised options. Anyhow, I saw exactly the same situation on the new NCWest server. Are you telling me that folks only talk English on the NC EU server?
All I will say about your first comment is that projecting a personal bad experience with a Russian (or whatever) on to a whole nation is... well, not good. I guess all of us would like to be judged on a case by case basis rather then thrown in a generic bin based on nationality.
As for Innova themselves... we shall see. All I can really say right now is there is a lot of crappy MMO companies out there right now that aren't Russian, with NC West not having a perfect track record themselves (far from), so it would hardly be a solely Russian trait for them to fail at providing a game. Every nationality seems to manage it just fine in my experience.
My opinion of their service will be based on the evidence of their service... not some prejudiced perception of where they come from.
Have you had info about language designated servers?
Will they be running German, Polish, Spanish, whatever designated servers at launch? Because if they do that will be a massive improvement alone and filter things out a lot.
With NC West it is a huge melting pot, as it can only be on a generic EU server.

i'm talkin about russian gamers, not a whole nation. omg yaall guys will put me on jail...and damn, it's my opinion. deal with it.
it's enough for me to watch the ruined communities of need for speed world and league of legends cus the russians, chechs, polacs refuse to speak english.
i'm from bulgaria and i hate the fact, that bulgarians speak bulgarian in general or trade channels too. just the russians have very large playerbase.
between the nc's eu server and innova's server i choose nc's. feel free to play wherever you want. it's not my concern. as i said many times before good luck, have fun etc...

Now i happen to speak russian too.
And the situation there is not better, probably even worse.
Not that I am squeamish about bad language. (above is just example of how its abused)
But I perfer that everyone speak same language in the game. If that is possible.
So either , I play on USA server. Or EU , if Innova realy filters it to only English...
