I am the same way. When it rains hard here in Florida, those huge Palmetto bugs show up.
They give me the creeps, even though they dont bite or anything, but can bring disease into the house no matter how clean your house is.

The roach is 6.6 times smaller than the American cockroach and can almost jump one foot horizontally!

Considering some roaches can fly, I'm not too worried about one that can jump.

They are not the first roaches ever discovered that jumps, I've seen them jump before, big roaches, jumping around, damn crazy shit.
Meh, its creepy in its own way, but I've seen far worse in the same size range.

Yeah, I'd heard of flying cockroaches years ago. Thought they had already invaded Florida, but I guess not. Hate to give away this secret, but that's why I love the Northwest. The climate is too mild for roaches to live up here.

The weta's lifestyle and habitat, where it may choose to remain concealed in suburban environments until unexpectedly confronted, combined with its notoriously unfriendly appearance, make it a frequent victim of irrational human aggression.

It shouldn't be so spiky. I don't trust any spikes on insects mainly not when it's on their rear (looks like it's gonna sting ya).

Most weta are predators or omnivores preying on other invertebrates, but the tree and giant weta eat mostly lichens, leaves, flowers, seed-heads and fruit. Weta can bite with powerful mandibles. Tree weta bites are painful but not particularly common. Weta can inflict painful scratches, with the potential of infection, but their defence displays consist of looking large and spiky, and they will retreat if given a chance. Tree weta arc their hind legs into the air in warning to foes and then strike downwards so that the spines could scratch the eyes of a predator.
