What do you do when not mmoing?

eccotoneccoton Member UncommonPosts: 1,340

With all the uproar about the SWTOR launch and people calling people names and saying they do not have a life. I was wondering what do you do as an mmo fan with your life outside of playing mmos? So I will start since over the years people have call me all sorts of things on the forums. I was even accused of being John Smedly. I am an artist and teacher. I also follow the game industry. I have friends at ubisoft, epic, and blizzard. I also have friends in the reporting industry. I go to E3 and have been to the Tokyo Game show. I love games. I had the first home system 1972 the Magnovox Oddyssy 2000 and have been hooked ever since. I started in mmo in 1996 with Meridian 59 and pretty much my interest in gaming since then has been mmos. If you want to see my art please take a look. http://ericton.weebly.com/

Do you teach? I teach in a small college art dept. I teach drawing, painting, art history, design and computer art. I do not meditate but I juggle everyday and it is a lot like meditation. I just started my Christmas break this morning!

A lot of none gamers say gaming dumbs you down. However, I find a lot of gamers are very creative and purse the arts. I wonder why that is?

Back in the early 80's I liked going to the pub and playing video games while having a beer. I miss the golden age of video arcades and pubs having all sorts of video games to play. It all crashed about 1984. Beer, sausage, and video games like can be good.

When I'm not playing online games with a bunch of people, I tend to try and not use words like "mmoing", because to me that word sounds as bad as refudiate.

If Sarah Palin can make up a word so can I!

Work.  I'm part of the big corporation "machine". On an average of 11-12 hours a day during the week. (but normally weekends are free)

I try to run about 5 miles 3 to 4 days a week. (Cardio, good in case the world is overrun by zombies)

Oh yes, then there's this pesky wife/family, so sometimes I have to go out and spend time with them on occasion.

Other than that, fix up stuff around the house, read when I can, and of course, do a bit of MMORPG gaming when given the chance.

Good advice about the running. I do not run but I lift weights so I can bash zombie skulls.

Ahh, well that would be 90's for me you see (being 27).

Although 80's it would be "Dad, can i have 50p". He wouldn't mind, he would happily give me a ton of cash to keep me busy on Double Dragon so he could enjoy his drink lol.

I need constant mental stimulus or i...probably would die, but if i have nothing fun to do, i have to drink to desense. I sure as hell don't get it at work, a 12 year old could do my job of replying to emails, it's like free money.

52 years old here. I teach and have a great group of very creative students so work is fun for me at least the student part. I never do well with college politics. I am that odd guy in the art department to the other faculty but the students seem to love me. They all know I am a serious gamer and since I am single I have no one to say no to me. The result is a pretty awesome game room. The students are always showing up at my house asking to play on my systems. I maybe 52 but I am still a kid at heart when it comes to games.

Ahh, i remember when i first moved in with the Ex, was playing WAR at the time and it took just days before she started moaning, even though she was sat watching soaps in the same room. Lesson learnt.

I wanted to go back to Uni part-time again, I'm a computers/Design type person. I like designing graphics, but i also like technical things. My calling would have probably been product design if i would have thought about it, though i still went into CAD, so wasn't far off, it was just in Structural engineering (dull, very)

Fringe, Lost Girl, Movies, work. Porn, MMO forums, Youtube. Eat, shower, do laundry. Single so I need to go out and get laid every now and then but at my age I lump that in with shower and laundry.

    Life is good, I'm happy.

Work 40 hours a week in inventory for a helicopter warehouse. Being 19 years old I'd say its not a bad job. Not playing any MMOs right now (waiting for Walmart to ship TOR) but I like to fix computers for people in mh spare time as well as do some light exercise to stay in shape. I used to read a lot but dont really have the time (nor have I found any interesting books, last one I read was Constantine's Sword). Other than that its pretty much TV (NFL, NBA soon, College Basketball)

I compose music for Short Films.

I produce electronic songwritingish music (not that club house and trance bullshit) for my solo project.

I write for a local music website. (http://www.antisteez.com)

I read sometimes.. (mostly post apocalyptic stuff)

I watch certain TV shows with my fiancee'

I work like an animal (internet marketer)

I hang out with my fam, friends.

I get shitfaced with my fam and friends.

I go to concerts and shows.

I get easily obsessed with random stuff and research the fuck out of them.

I also try to find many ways to keep myself positive.

I also mostly just do everything I can to make my fiancee' happy and make sure my reputation as a human being is acceptable enogh to not be blacklisted in life.
