I think the biggest issue here is that rockstar lied their mouths off to everyone saying that the sex scene was not theirs to begin with, that it was a malicious community mod, when both the PS2 and XBOX have the same scene at launch with the introduction of a cheat code.

I think pulling the game off stores was the right thing to do.

Well as far as I am concerned it IS Rockstar's fault. They put the scene there KNOWING what would be the liabilities when it was discovered. So everyone can blame whoever they want but Rockstar is the one that decided to put in something that they knew would push the barrier of tolerance too far. I don't feel sorry for them one bit.

You know what the goverment is being hypocyrtical they wont allow GTA:SA to have a mature rating which shoudl mean adult imho, because of the sex scene. i totally agree Fadeus, RS new about the scene, they knowingly put it in and now they are reaping the rewards, lol. i don't feel sorry for them one bit, it was a dumbass move on there part.

Not saying that the goverment is not a hipocrit in these issues, the politicians all jump around giving comments right and left just to gather votes or simpaties for future elections, especialy miss Clinton, we all know whos the democratic candidate for the next presedentials, dont we?

But games like GTA and postal should have an adult only rating, sex scenes or not, Killing cops, beating women up, running people over with cars, killing everything in sight in Postal. Kids shouldnt play these games, period.

Well that and this has been an issue that has slowly been coming to a head over the past few years now. Marketters found a new way to sell sex so they are slowly pushing the line farther and farther. And now they finally got smacked.

But your right, most of it has to do with politics atm.

Maybe if they get to where they can't sell it anymore they'll do what atari did with the E.T. game failure and crush the copies, fill dump trucks up with them and dump them in the Mexican desert. lol

That's why its a big issue.

The problem is Rockstar lied when asked about it. Also they didnt put an A only just because of the sex. It was partly due to the cumulation of ALL of it...the sex scene and the lying was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I'm actually kinda glad it was given an A rating. Hopefully, some gaming companies will see this and learn something. You can make a good game without dropping the F-bomb every 3 words, explicit druge use and copious violence.

Don't get me wrong..I play violent games (BF2, Doom 3, HL2, Vampires:Bloodlines, etc)...so I dont want to sound like a hypocrite....but GTA:SA was just a very low content game where you did nothing but took the same type of missions (either gang banging or some other form of murder) and the game was pretty much 90% car jacking...everything about GTA:SA was just wrong

Now, Rockstar is going to have problems with their upcoming game, Bullies....where you can play a bully and beat the crap outta other high school kids....I mean, WTF? Why? I guess if someone can make 50 million bucks making a game about Pooping in a toilet someone will try.

Funny you mention that. That one was already done for the atari 800 a long time ago...

I am trying to remember the name. It was based on the future where all people do is eat and take a dump anymore. They expand massively to take massive amounts of food in then they go dump it all out real quick and shrink back down. I can't recall the name though now.

Im really curious about why people are claiming RS screwed themselves over? Do you have slightest concept of how much free press this is bringing to just one of their titles? Theres two other GTA games on the popular market still..plus people that werent interested in the game before now know more about it and some of those will want to try it out. So now you have a demand for a game that is now set to a limited market...they can raise the price of the game if they want to for a longer period than the game would have held its prior price. Stuff like this never turns against the companies, all it is, is politicians getting their name in the press again.

Yes but if the game that is getting all of the press isnt on the shelves, then how will they sell it? Not everybody buys from the internet, so seeing the item on the shelf is a large part of marketing.

Every other 14+ year old with a soft Mom or Dad will just get their folks to grab it for them anyway...

If this affects sales negatively in any way whatsoever I for one would be stunned. Its the best and exactly the kind of publicity RS love. It will make the news and come to the attention of an audience they couldnt hope to target in any other way. In many ways its a stroke of genius.

Could always go with the conspiracy theory that RS hired a group of modders and told them exactly how to unlock this part of the game and then exploit and publicitate it so they would have so much publicity now.
