Before you give the obvious answer, because there are so many people, my question stems from the fact that the game is instanced. For example, if two many people are in a zone, a copy of that zone is made. As many copies as needed could theoretically be generated, or is this technically impossible and why?
The game needs only three servers for NA: pve, pvp, and rp. If everyone was on the same server, we wouldn't have to server hop to be with other groups of friends on other servers.
Cause EA made the same mistake with WAR. You will see empty servers in a few months.

I hope not. And with all the zone copies, perhaps we will just see those copies come down and no real change in perception of population in game.

Hit your map and down at the bottom right corner it tells you which instance of what planet you are on, the numbers at the top of the play screen are how many players in that area (phase) and your guild online number (if you are in one)
Protip, theres a drop down in that lower right hand box that is how you change phases of your zone so you can meet up with your buds.
Played: Asheron's Call(still the best fantasy MMO!), EQ1, EQ2, Vanguard, DAoC, Horizons, City of Heroes/Villians, WoW (crap), LOTORO, D&D Online, Eve, Anarchy Online, and still playing SWG daily.

Only time will tell that for sure.
