To be honest this is just like when people said WAR was a WoW clone despite the fact that Warcraft was originally meant to be a Warhammer RTS but then Gamesworkshop pulled out at the last minute so Blizzard decided to press on and make a few changes and released the game Warcraft, and you know the rest.

That still looks nothing like the OP's screenshot which is stylistically very similar to Tanaris, WoW - right down to the pink bats, and ochre-coloured walled settlement in the background.

Anyway, I still don't understand the unmbrage. Why are you guys so damn defensive?

seriously new generation of kids fail so hard i start to wonder if they need to breed any further or just get thrown off a cliff at birth.

In each and any mmo's they come and dont have a a slightest respect versus anyone.

Just whine and cry and hand over anything they can get their hands on.

Never satisfied with what they get.

New generation is made out of pure fail with a FEW exceptions here and there.

Because you were the one who was telling people 'why are you so bent out of shape over this'. So i thought maybe you are an intelligent person who knows when is the time to stop considering it is such a trivial issue..right?

Op was baited us into arguing and never bothered to reply back..his job is done.

No its me.  This is the same exact thing you see in Tanaris.  Huge Skeleton laying around in the sun baked desert surrounded by flying creatures.  You could go to Tanaris and ALT + Z both UI's and you would be hard pressed to tell them apart.

Okay I really don't want to get into shit slinging, but please. Let's not insult the intelligence of everyone reading. The 2 zones look very much alike right down to the pink tinted flying creatures (vultures in WoW; bats in SWTOR). Let's forget the bones, or the settlement in the OP's screenie -- which reminds me of Gadgetzan. If I squinted, the OP's screenshot would pass for Tanaris easily.

Now I'm not going to shout blood... deserts exist IRL. But the resemblance is uncanny.

You do know this is how tatooine looked like BEFORE wow? right?  Oh god the Mods just love to let this stuff slide... but wow if you are mean to some idiot you get a ban... lol

Something that isnt there?  You mean Huge Megalithic bones in a desert surrounded by flying creatures?  Nope no resembalnce there at all lol.   Yes this is my toon whisper me on Zederok on the Warriors of the Shadow if you dont believe me, and if you do not see the glaring similarities of that screenshot with something that could of easily been taken in Tanaris then you need to have your eyes checked my friends.  Besides I am not dissing the game at all I meant this is a rather tongue in cheek post in the first place.

That's Tanaris. There are thieves there in the ruins and you have to kill them to collect water pouches, LOL

  • PieRadPieRad Member Posts: 1,108

Bat's, bones and sand, okay we get it... funny.

But that's where the similarities stop, I mean, the landscape look nothing alike.

    Hey,

I am very familiar with Tatooine's concept. That said, artistically there are myriad ways to realize "skeleton lying on desert" -- it's apparent to even blind men that the two zones have an uncanny similarity. I don't think it's a negative - read my posts in this thread if you don't believe me.

I have a feeling I am getting yelled at because people do see the resemblance... and that pisses them off. Royally.

    Oh well :(

I think at this point you are the only one who is being a very serious cat. Do i take OP seriously nope? some people have long history of bashing SWTOR for the most trivial reasons...and when i see post by these people i usually roll my eyes and laugh it off.

Some are trying too hard to make people believe that both screenshot look similar. If others disagree...arguing about it pointless.

I mean it's not even relegated to SWTOR. RIFT's Scarlet Gorge is suspiciously like WoW's Badlands... which is like the Grand Canyon. So there.

I could care less what you see in those screenshots and there is nothing to prove..i am done with Tatooine and moved on to Alderaan on my BH. My little brother also likes to see faces in clouds i never told him he is wrong. Matter of perception.

seriously, this was neither a joke, nor funny. this was plain and simple trolling ^^
if you think wow and tor look the same, check your system and buy a few new parts imo.

afaik Tanaris and Gadgetzan was modeled after Tatooine in the first place. Right down to the round hovels and an arena in the middle.

EDIT: checked on wowwiki, tanaris and gadgetzan are modeled after madmax not SW.

"Although Gadgetzan looks like, and appears to be, a reference to the desert town of Mos Eisley from Star Wars, it is even likelier to be a reference to "Barter Town" in the movie Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome; the main area in which the movie is situated is located in a desert and has an arena in the middle, similar to the one in Gadgetzan. Further evidence of this is the NPC named Katrina Turner, whose name is very similar to Tina Turner, who played a lead part in that movie."
