Not sure where you've been but the vast majority of F2P games are P2W which is why a lot of people avoid them like the plague...
I play for fun lineage 2 now its free2play but its also pay 2 win its realy sad that players wanne play like this its totally beyond me whats fun in buying yourself to top?

I guess for a lot of people the most important thing is "being at the top", regardless of how they get there...
Perhaps games are just becoming like RL ?
In the MMO Entropia Universe there are a lot of people who pay thousands (even up to hundreds of thousands) for items. Just think - someone paid around $69,000 for an egg to display at their house. Granted this item was probably bought for investment reasons (as you can exchange in-game money for real-life money).. hoping it would evolve into something cool so they could sell it for profit.
I don't think this is a pay-to-win type of item, though. At least I hope not. Just reading the sources from the article it appears to be simply a unique/one of a kind item. So maybe it's for decoration.. which would make sense, considering there is going to be player houses and what not. So, yeah, I could see some rich bastard shelling out that kind of money to show off. Just look at World of Warcraft with the Spectral Tiger mount (that's about $1.2k on ebay a couple years ago).
I'd like to read more up on this item. Anyone who is familiar with the game able to tell me what's so special about it?
