SWTOR is game of the year

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but SWTOR won "game of the year" on a number of well known gaming sites (including Massively and Ten Ton Hammer). I thought massively's take on the haters was pretty entertaining:
OMG this game just launched! How can we possibly rate this the game of the year! We must be paid off! Adhgdjhgdudbjh! The fact is, this was a hard one. RIFT launched as a staff favorite in March, but it's both the freshness of SWTOR's launch and the fact that MMO fans have been going nuts over this game for years that combine to make this our Game of the Year. Plus, ya know, it's kinda fun.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)
Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.

i literally JUST canceled my sub to SW...the game has now become a chore to play...i havent played it for 2 days and dont have the urge to go back n play it again...its just like every mmo out there...nothign new...

Game of the year is laughable. It's only game of the year for sites that focus on MMOs. MMO of the year? ya I can see that. Mainly, because there really isn't any competition, and the game is still new and fresh for most people.
There are too many other, better games, that have came out this year for TOR to take the throne on this. TOR just happens to be the only one on that list that is an MMO.
This part of the quote in particular, "RIFT launched as a staff favorite in March, but it's both the freshness of SWTOR's launch and the fact that MMO fans have been going nuts over for years that combine to make this our Game of the Year," says to me that they're giving TOR game of the year because the launch was something that we hadn't experienced in an MMO, and that fans were looking forward to it? Don't get me wrong, they mention that it's "kinda fun", but it seems like there are tons, and I mean metric fuck tons, of reviewers who are doing a great job overlooking how mediocre this title is in effect of the new car smell. We get it, the hype and the polish get ten out of ten. Is this really the new trend, to value title releases based on anxious fans and something shiny?
As others have mentioned, MMO of the year? Sure. There's not much competition there, and it makes sense. Game of the year? Give me a god damn break.

I agree. This game has so many glaring problems that need to be discussed that I find all these raved reviews from big gaming sites to be a serious let down. I especially had a laugh at the MMORPG.com panel and their token realist who rated the game much lower than the others.
I have no problem with people enjoying the game, but let's at least be honest about the many problems it has so Bioware can have an opportunity to address them.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
Huh? Why didn't OP include the other sites that aren't MMO-centric that supposedly listed it as Game of the Year?
Protip: On an MMO-centric site, "Game of the Year" still only means "MMO of the Year".
Game of the year for the Kids MMO section more like, kids only fall for this stuff. Game of the year belongs to the developer who gave out the most money for a positive opinion to be slapped on to the back of their game. It's all been mediocre mainstream rubbish this year that the masses drool over as they do their Mc D's happy meals.Being a Pc gamer today in the age of crossplat developers gone mad, is like walking up to a nice dressed up pretty whore in an Amsterdam red light district window, as soon as you pay your money and get to unwrap your prize to have some fun, you are greeted by fake boobs, and a penis, then asked to bend over as she takes out the lupe.
As others have stated, mmo of the year perhaps, but not game of the year. No way. Skyrim is game of the year. It's up there with the greatest games of all time in my opinion.
You can easily spot the fanboys for this game, it hasn't even been out long enough to be consider game of the anything yet they want to give it game of the year, it shouldn't even be considered for 2011 since it just came out and didn't give everyone time to play it for a few months.

Gotta love how any positive posts around here draw out the haters like a moth to a flame. It just goes to show that every mmo will have a vocal minority of haters no matter how good it is.
You forgot to mention the fanboys gathering to defend TOR on negative topics.
