Seems like the old Blizzard boys at Arena.net are going head to head with current Blizzard boys.
It is interesting that these two giants launch on dates so close to each other, my money is on Diablo 3 to outsell GW 2 in the first week, I base this mainly on the long standing reputation of Blizzard games among the community.
Arena.net is also a highly rated developer, these two games are running a marathon and not a sprint.
The first game to be released is Diablo 3 on the 2nd of Feb, the second being GW 2 on the 28th of Feb

26 days is more than enough time for me to beat Diablo 3 and PK my friend on his private server with my duped Godly Plate of Whale before moving onto GW2.
Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure.
Oh man, you are gonna be sooo disapointed when we will be april and none of these two will have lauch yet.
DON'T BELEIVE THESE DATES.
Blizzard takes forever and forever. D3 might lauch in 2013 believe me.
And GW2 is soo far away form lauch, might lauch in 2014.
Hate to break it to you, but neither of those release dates are true.
The rumored Feb 2nd Diablo 3 release date, Blizzard actually responded to and said that it was fake (There was a poster in some store saying Feb. 2nd, the sign was fake.) Diablo 3 still has no release date.
Guild Wars 2 still has no release date.
Neither of those games has a release date, layh off the smoke.
Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"
Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.
At first I lol'd
... but then I serious'd.
Your comparing apples annd oranges here. There is no competition between the games nor are the companies gunning at each other. Blizz has a vision with their game, ANet has a vision with their game.... thats all there is to it.
I don't know if D3 will sell as well as the previous Diablo titles. There are a lot of features that has a portion of their fans up in arms over or are opting for Torchlight 2 instead.
Windows 8 is going to outsell D3!
Like the others mentioned, I also don't think that those two games will be lauched this early.
For Diablo 3, I'd rather play Mythos Global instead since OBT of this game is already near.
Kit Kat will out outsell Windows and D3?

I know that I am enthusiastic about both of them, for sure.
Having said that, those two release dates are both hilariously fake, so it's not really relevant. I'm pretty sure D3 will launch a long time before GW2. I'm also pretty sure that everyone who is enthusiastic about both of them will buy both of them, so I'm not seeing the conflict.
This. I am buying both games. These are the only two games I am really excited about because Guild Wars and Diablo 2 were the best games I've ever played. If I had to rank my favourite games, it would look like:
1. Guild Wars/Diablo
A few hundred light years
2. Everything else

Me too. Playing the Diablo 3 beta has made sure that this will be a release day purchase for me; as for GW2, I'm only going by what I've read not personal experience, but it would take something pretty stunning to change my mind about buying it.
Guild Wars 2 news until now has been tremendously focused on the PvE side of things. Will the completed game lean more heavily toward PvE at launch, or is there lots of PvP goodness still to come?
Eric Flannum: To be honest, our focus on talking about the PvE side of things has come primarily because we are very conscious that the first game was regarded as a PvP-centric game and we wanted people to become familiar with the many cool and new features of Guild Wars 2 PvE before we talked about PvP or WvW.
Also take into consideration that although we do consider all three types of play to be equally important to the success of the game, PvE content takes a lot more in the way of raw resources and time to develop, so we needed to get the ball rolling on PvE early. Because of this, we just had more to talk about with regard to PvE early on. We'll be releasing more info about PvP and WvW as well as PvE in the coming months.
That's from a recent interview about GW2's PvE vs PvP. That final line that I underscored means its very likely you won't see GW2 until the middle of this year at the earliest, and as they wanted to do an Open Beta very close to release, you probably won't see that any time soon either.
No clue about D3, not a game I follow.

there is no way in hell GW2 is coming out in february
q3/q4 2012 most probably
This is an instance in which I will be buying both games and hope there are a few months between their releases. No subscription cost for either game is amazing in this day and age. My expaectations have lowered for both games, but they are still relatively high.
This
Diablo 3 will come out a good 4 or 5 months prior.
Toilet paper outsell all of them combined
edit: not buying D3. Just lost interest when I read into game looks, features and rmah.
