Not every SWTOR "hater" is a sandboxer, actually most people who hate  SWTOR hate it becauses they want something new, not necessarily a sandbox.

    True.

But at what point does constant repetition of the same words endlessly pass beyond simple ad nauseam and into obsessive/compulsive disorder?

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

Combat should be done by puking and farting at enemies, you cant have abilities like Vicious Slash because it simply does damage and HOW MANY DAMAGING ABILITIES WE'VE HAD IN WOW LET ALONE EVERY OTHER GAME!? HUH!?

Damn, I agree so much with the OP, all the abilites should be turned into farts and pukes and peeing on enemies and... But oh mine god, that's just copying postal! :(

Sheesh it's like the new Battlefield, YOU HAVE TO SHOOT at enemies WITH A FRIGGIN GUN! A GUN! How many times that has been done before?

The gaming industry is dying :(

Oh and, I'm playing a Sith Juggernaut as my main in TOR, loving the class, I couldnt stand the warrior class in WoW, I guess there must be some differences outside those tooltips :)

Also forgot to add force leap was in KoTOR before the warrior charge was in WoW.

I can feel your anger. This game is defenseless. Take your weapon. Strike this game down with all of your hatred, and your journey towards towards the Dark Side will be complete.

Yep because WoW has all these things:

    1. Individual class stories.

    2. Decision based questing.

    3. Vull voice overs.

    4. Companions.

    5. Character alignment.

    6. Crew skills.

    7. Space combat (yes I know it's a mini game but still).

    8. Takes place in a sci-fi setting.

I'm sure when the fabled GW2 comes out I'll be able to pull dozens of things from GW2 that are similar to WoW, but like you can do with TOR.

    I can understand that but..

If you grow tired of something and you want something new, then why did you get tired of it in the first place?. Played it too much? Is that a fault with the genre? of you playing something to the brink of being burned out?. You are expecting the genre to innovate just enough for you to feel the passion again, yet that's a personal issue you have because you probably/maybe play MMOs as one of your biggest hobbies. As with any hobby it has to be done in moderation or you grow tired of it.. It isn't something to clander the genre for really.

Everytime you grow tired of something you can't throw a fit at it for not tweaking itself to your specifications

The tool automatically queries swtor.com's server-status page every 5 minutes and commits the samples to it's database.

That picture from the OP is absolutely stunning.  It is pretty much a direct copy / paste job.   There is no way that anyone with a shred of intellectual honesty can look at this, and countless other examples, and say that this game is not an uninspired clone or reskin.

Shhh.  WoW developers invented those ideas!  Didn't you know that?

    • Abilites that close the gap between two objects (NPC/PC).  Done before WoW.

    • Frontal AoEs.  Done before WoW.

    • AoEs impacting a radius.  Done before WoW.

    • "Bleed" effects.  Done before WoW.

    • "Snaring" effects. Done before WoW.

    • Resources that build with combat (ex. Rage).  Done before WoW.

    • Abilities that provide small amounts of the resource.  Done before WoW.

Just to clarify, I am not saying there isn't a similarity.  Of course there is.  You could do the same comparison with many games and see the similarities between the two.

  • Eir_SEir_S Member UncommonPosts: 4,440

Yeah, those are mostly pretty similar, even if one or two existed before WoW's skills.  Hey it's fine with me, it's about time someone stole from Blizzard instead of the other way around.  But they win no points for creativity, just for hypocrisy.
