I put delay in quotes because it isn't a delay in the true sense given that there aren't any dates tied to this game's release or development.
In the case that this awesome game ISN'T vapourware (I'm pessimistic, forgive me), perhaps it's for the best that this game has been "delayed"?
Say their completion deadline got pushed to 2015 from 2012. That sucks. But in 2015:
+I'm assuming technological advances will be made far further than they are today, or next year.
+Some of us will have better PCs :P
+Game will have been in production longer so the devs have had more time to mull over their ideas and come up with better ones
Just some boons from having the game pushed back.
What do you reckon?

I need to take this advice more.

You will have better PC but also as you said: "technological advances will be made far further" so that's not a problem
Also we could see how CCP made a big step in changing visual aspect of Eve Online few years ago.
Of course we can't argue about fact that: more time = better game, but also: more development = bigger cost production.
And you have to remember that CCP have some experiance with adding content to working games. So I would like to play game which has good concept, and good ideas. It don't have to be perfect at launch. But of course constantly upgrades (like this in Eve) will make it better game.
I don't plan to see the game until after 2014. Which is perfect for me, if it game turns out to be good I don't want to be distracted from school. My unselfish reason is I really hope they take their time and make something really worth playing. I don't want to see it come out half finished with bugs. It really is my last hope for the genre.

Those are not positives those are negatives, I was going to build a new machine to play WOD by the established release not wait 4 more years by which time they will have invented holodecs anyway. Also a game with very little production money spent on it, has just as much chance of becoming vaporware as it does of having a polished release. If you dont have a better pc by 2014 to 2015 you obviously couldnt find a spare 200 dollars to buy a new netbook, because by then netbooks will be better than your ROG gaming machine, .. of course we will have better PCs.
Delay for the best?
I think it is, but probably for different reasons. To fund all what they are planning CCP tested the "pain-tolerance" limit of their only playerbase. If they had suceeded we gamers would have ended up with a (or rather three) game(s) developed with an "anything goes" attitude "You don't like it? Yeah? We don't care, you'll pay regardless". Their playerbase said "No" and kicked them hard enough into the balls that they suddenly were (or going to be, not entirely sure about that) able to deliver a big patch which adds a quadrizillion of fixes, enhancements & additions to the EvE core gameplay which in some cases was stuff demanded and ignored for a long time.
Don't get me wrong. I feel sad for every person which lost his/her job in this process. Also I would love to see WOD Online as great as I imagine it should be released right now. But I'm sure this kick was what CCP needed to wake up & that the chances that future CCP releases are made with players are "PEOPLE with wallets" and not "just wallets" in mind are much bigger that they had been before.
Just playing devil's advocate here, but some problems I am seeing with your "boons":
1) Just because there is better technology, does not mean that the game will take advantage of it. The problem with MMOs is that they start with a certain level of technology and often stay with it until a MAJOR revamp of the game is done, normally several years after release if ever.
2) Some of us will have better PCs, but some will not. Basically this is a moot point.
3) A longer production time does give the devs more time to work the ideas and such, but in this case the longer production time is because the stduio creating the game suffered a severe cut in manpower, so the longer time will most likely be going towards completing the same material as before, except with less "intelligence" to work with.
Personally, I can't wait for this game and I have some pretty high hopes for it, but I am not holding my breath either.
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
This, plus, I think to do this game justice is going to require a LOT of thinking outside the box for the devs. I see this game (done properly) transcending all the normal concepts (sandbox vs themepark, PvP vs. PvE, etc.). I would definitely rather see them take their time and make it right, I'll wait
2015?
Goddammit.
Not like our wishes really matter, but my experience following MMO's. You want the developer to be able to delay a release until they feel it is ready. Launching too early is the death of too many good games.

True, but I remember signing up for the Darkfall watch list/beta roughly a decade before it came out.
This game is going to be on the hype list on the main page for a long time.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
I made sure to send a big "thank you" to all the Eve players who caused this game to be pushed back. In hindsight I sort of regret doing that but I was really looking forward to this game. Seeing this get stuck into might-never-see-the-light-of-day mode so people could play the most boring MMO I ever tried really set me off.
Oh well. Nothing to be done about it.

I hear Eve is a very popular spreadsheet simulator.
Well, keep in mind that Eve subscriptions are going to be what makes this game happen, they are the ones paying the bills at CCP atm. All of us sitting around waiting on WoD sure aren't. On the other hand, I hope those that are saying this game just went to vaporware are wrong....
If it came out in 5 years it would have been an even bigger fail.
