I may just be blind, but where are the official forums? I couldn’t find one for GW1 either. If there happens to not be an official forum, where is most of the chatter going on? I’ve just been gathering news by catching it on random mmo sites.

No official forums.
I'm pretty sure the most active comunity is over at: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/
google Guild Wars 2 Guru.
sweet, thanks for the fast replys. i've been watchin those forums for a bit now, but wasn't sure if that was "it". thanks again.
Yeah, I havn't been there much recently but Strain himself used to post there when he still was lead designer. ANET keeps an eye on it at least.
But you can probably get almost as much info here as well.
Just hang around here. The discussion on GW2G is stale, and the mods are immature. Our only problem is that the board is slow, which just means we need more regulars. Post away!

Philosophy of MMO Game Design
I would never post there. Now they make GW2 fans look bad.
Philosophy of MMO Game Design
Their ideas aren't necessarily bad, but because ANet listens to them, I think it's gone to their heads a bit. I just hope ANet doesn't let the fans name NPCs again after Bonfaz Burntfur.
GW 2 forums are taking a while because they are going to innovate MMO forums beyond what we thought possible
Is it so bad?
I do frequent the forum but I only lurk on the news and general gaming sections
I dont even bother with general discussion anymore as they are usually "What Ifs" or just revisits of already discussed-to-death subjects, basically, all the bored people that have nothing better to do go there

Maybe I exaggerated a bit, but there are known to be a fair amount of elitists from that community. Then again, we've got those here too.
You really aren't kidding!
I had an account there at GWG, and made an account at GW2G. I go there from time to time, but very rarely say anything at all. They are like zealots over there. I know the game is going to be good, and Anet's trying to move the genre forward is a good thing, but seriously, these people need to calm down. I have seen people get banned for voicing minor negative opinions of the game or mechanics, or even just ideas that were counter to what most GW fans want.
It's ridiculousness.
"There are two great powers, and they've been fighting since time began. Every advance in human life, every scrap of knowledge and wisdom and decency we have has been torn by one side from the teeth of the other. Every little increase in human freedom has been fought over ferociously between those who want us to know more and be wiser and stronger, and those who want us to obey and be humble and submit."

Great community, even if it's a bit small at the moment. It will no doubt pick up as a release date is set.
Looks interesting bro, I also might join the guild team legacy looks cool IMO.
I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.
I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.
P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)
Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.
I don't really participate on the guru forum discussion but I do go there to see if new stuff gets posted-cuz darn it all, they are like speed demons at compiling any and all things GW2 related.
As opposed the the " My MMO is better!!" "Nuh-Uh, MINE IS!!!" trash talk that goes on here?
I visit there on occasion but I rate their posts higher that here though, at least there you can actually discuss the game without people trash talking the MMO unlike here. Sure it's biased over there but does it really matter unless your discussing games?
You talking bout Mr. GoHappy SWTOR thread closer Mod?
Same

It is ridiculous but thats exactly what they did on the TOR forums before release. Just try mentioning crafting or anthing about not having raiding in the game and you were likely to get flamed, warned and then banned. So that being said one good turn deserves another.
Precisely why we need official forums.

Whenever I go to the site, usually to check for interviews and such (I don't actually have an account), I tend to check the recent threads and occasionally the recent posts in the sidebar.
I get mad every single time.
Discussions will go on for pages, some well over a hundred, and nearly every post in a thread is the exact same thing. People will repeatedly post their opinions even if they've been stating a hundred times already. Their users don't seem to read past the OP unless they're a frequent poster. This sort of thing seems encouraged to some degree by the mods, who will lock new threads while posting links to year-old threads that haven't had a new post in months. People bump ancient threads, everyone responds to the OP without looking at the date, and the discussion never moves forward. In Q&A threads, users will often continue posting the answer long after the question has been answered, without contributing any new information.
Some threads get locked because there's "not enough to discuss" and it would be "purely speculation at this point," yet other threads are covered in speculation that's beyond ridiculous. I've seen Martin and others post on there just to calm everyone down. In one post he even says, "I see the sky is falling again..."
There was a thread once discussing whether or not there should be an official forum. Many posts were deleted from this thread, and a mod edit was added to the OP warning that discussing the moderation was against the rules. Clearly their moderation has led to some desire for an official forum.
Here's a recent thread. A lot of threads go this same way. The OP brings up a potential issue. The community goes into a frenzy about how there's nothing wrong with the game and how it will be flawless at launch. Most people post the same thing: "This won't be a problem." Somebody responds to the thread title without reading the actual post. Many put words in the OP's mouth and argue against made up points. He has to clarify his argument repeatedly. I'm not exactly agreeing with him completely, but he brings up a decent point which nearly everyone refuses to acknowledge. It's pretty much the definition of "rabid fanboyism." It's like he's talking to a brick wall.
These users shouldn't be our ambassadors to ArenaNet. I'm not saying an official forum will have a pristine community, but it will at least give everyone an equal chance in representing themselves.

I'd rather constant bickering than biased, one-sided discussion and overbearing mods.

How is different to these forums. The mods here are mostly absent or come in to warn another user if someone felt like being "disliked" heavily. Also, these boards keep rehashing topics more than any site I know.
The mods in GW2G are very rigid indeed, some even makes no sense at all
My latest infraction (not counting the one I got from complaining about this one)
The guy cleared some posts in a thread, saying to keep civil, I was warning about the deletion long ago, and then when he finally deletes, I support him and bam:
Reason: Does not contribute to discussion
-------
If you are not going to discuss the topic at hand, do not post.

This infraction is worth 1 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.

I told you guys he was watching =P
Its a miracle this thread getting 7 pages, lets keep this way please
But after getting a "death threat" infraction for making a joke I really give shit to these infractions anymore
Is it harsh? yes
Is it one of the best places to have a discussion due to that? yep
But it is pretty much like here, if you know how the mods play, you just play along the lines taking sublety dips beyond the line...
