there's also Order and Chaos, but that's for iphone/ipad. I like that one the most though

In before "Mac's aren't for gaming"

Anyhoo, I use a Mac and usually have to run bootcamp and a copy of Windows to play an MMORPG.  There really aren't many choices.  Warhammer Online, EvE and WoW are the big ones at the moment.

BioWare did state today, however, that a Mac client is on their radar in the future.

City of Heroes has a Mac client.  I used to run it on my Intel Macbook with the graphics turned down a ways.

And the Free version isn't half bad.

I looked at the link above, most of them are MMOs I've seen already. To narrow my search a little, I kinda want something appealing to the eyes? I dont know, I feel like that when I play on a mac XD I know silly. But I like your suggestions, I've been considering Second Life, but I'm not sure I want to dive into that >< thanks for all the help though

Only one I could think of is Spiral Knights which someone also recommended me just now. I tried to download on my mac a while back but I think my mac can't handle it =/ But you could try it out if you have a newer one.

So recently I went browsing for games and apperently there is a mac client for EVE Online. Now, I hear this game is really good and I see it everywhere, is this true? I mean, I know very little about it except you fly around in space for hours going pew pew from time to time. It seems dull, but if any of you can tell me otherewise or if its even worth it please inform me.

EvE is quite good and may intrest you.

    On a side note:

Although this game is not a mmo (3d action game) it might be well worth you checking out,  will run on win, mac, and linux.

If you're computer savvy at all, you can get a lot of MMOs to play using some Wine variant. I like Wineskin. I've gotten quite a few MMOs to run nicely on my Macbook using it. EQ, EQ2, UO, Istaria, NWN, Guild Wars, FFXI, LOTRO etc... These are all very playable, by the way.

As for native games, you may want to check out Ryzom if you like the sandbox.

I have a main PC for gaming, but having a Macbook has never slowed me down... and I don't Bootcamp. Wine is a beautiful thing.

I've been on the same search recently after updating to Lion and losing my WinXP on Bootcamp.  I can still emulate XP, but it's not good enough.  I'm really enjoying Ryzom right now.  Skills based, high-quality, free.  The beginner learning curve is just slightly steep, but the players are very helpful.  The only weak spot I've noticed is that the player-base isn't exactly massive.  But I'm okay with playing among a few hundred players who are lively and helpful.  Among the competition for Mac mmo's, that or Fallen Earth is your best bet.  Fallen Earth's Mac client is still in Beta, but it runs well for me.  I thought I'd like the game more, but it feels a little clunky to me, althought duel wielding pistols and fighting a mob while mounted is pretty cool.  Also, here's a current games list exclusive to macs as well.  If you hop into Ryzom, pm Ydr for some help.

You could get any mmo to run through bootcamp, but that does require having a functioning copy of Windows.

As for MMOs that have mac native clients, some people mentioned Ryzom.  I know for sure that one's in the app store, and it's free (mostly... sort of like an extended client).  Though if you like quests and "themeparks" (I hate that term), it might not be up your alley.  It does have some pretty decent crafting and ability creation though.

EvE also has a native client that runs pretty well.  I've enjoyed it, but PvE isn't really that interesting.  Market PvP is fun (buying low and selling high), but can feel like a second job if you get really into it.

WoW also has a native client that works pretty well, but you expressed disinterest in it (I agree, I havea  sub, but play it mainly for d istraction when I don't want to reboot into Windows to play a quick dungeon).  It does run pretty well and looks good (for WoW).

I never had much luck with the Warhammer OSX client; perfomance was poor.  But I never tried to optomize it when I could just run it in Windows much easier.  The Fallen Earth client uses some sort of Wine magic, and I've never had any luck getting it to work, but you might!

    Good luck!
