I want launch bugs for GW

bletsoniusbletsonius Member UncommonPosts: 53

...or as a matter of fact i wont be bothered by them a bit if they exist, the more i read about this game the more intrigued i am and more hopefull that once again i will enjoy the mmo experience. What i mean to say is that the things this game will implement seem groundbreaking to the gender and no matter how many bug fixes or patches it will take for things to roll smoothly im prepared to stick to it for the long run. I dont care if the chain quests are bugged (and some of them will be), i dont care if the underwater combat will have gliches, the only thing that matters is that i predict im going to get the excitement i first got 8 years ago with wow vanila, a really new landscape in the gaming world, a magical place where you really explore new combat systems (yes i know wow didnt have innovative combat system, but GW2 will), new hand-crafted places, new mechanics, new skill system (finaly i get an mmo where i choose my skills like a magic the gathering game, figuring out how to build your deck the best way possible). ArenaNet, we, the desperate veterans of the mmo gender, beg of you to do the best and if you manage to do it, we promise you the most dedicated audience for at least 4-5 years to come, now please, PLEASE get the game released already, we, normal people with lives that require us to work 80 hours a week (yup, thats my roll for the past 5 months since i oppened my store), NEED to get away from it all every now and then.

side note: SWTOR is a nice game, personal score: 6.5/10, please ArenaNet, dont make me play this one for more than 2 months, i'll blame you.

    (Psst!  It's "Genre.")

And yes, the anticipation and/or hype is absolutely murdering people.  It's not just you.  GW2 is shaping up to be something really special.

As for me, first thing I'mma' do when I log in is go to a tavern, drink some poor fool under a table and then get into a fist fight. Because I can actually do those things!

Roleplaying support/features make me a happy chappy.

  • Lately this is getting worse and worse... So many pointless threads from people who can't contain their feelings. Man up and wait for the release, no need in spreading your nonsense on forums.

Well YOU may be prepared to wait a couple months for ArenaNet to patch up their game post-launch, so that their major selling points (like Dynamic Events) are fully playable, but not everyone else is. The gaming industry is pretty unforgiven and first impressions are everything. A bad first impression will tarnish future sales. Also, the more hyped a game is the less leeway it gets, when it comes to bugs. It is why so many people make a huge fuss out of SW:TOR's ability delay issue... It's because the game is "expected" to have a fully functioning combat system, with all the hype and money backing it, but I bet a game like ArcheAge could get away with the same issue.

However Guild Wars 2 has one huge advantage over most over AAA MMOs, when it comes to post-launch bugs & glitches and that is the game's business model. In SW:TOR's various ability delay forum threads, you have hundreds of people QQ'ing and then saying they've unsubbed. At least the same won't happen in GW2, since it is "buy to play" and players are more likely to give the game a 2nd chance, or the benefit of the doubt. Just like so many did the Skyrim and all it's Bethesda bugs.

Chalk me up as a +1 on the list of people who actually did unsubscribe to SW:TOR because of the ability delay.  Anything less than tightly responsive combat in an MMO is an absolute deal-breaker for me.  If I fail, I want it to be because of me, not because of the game.

And yes, it may be fixed in the future, but you're correct in that first impressions are everything in an MMO.  Even if it's fixed, I won't be back.  I've already moved on, SW:TOR is old news ...

Ah yes gw2's community is going to be so lovely.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Yes, but we couldn't have made it like that without your absence.

This post makes me question my gender.

  • HomituHomitu Member UncommonPosts: 2,030

First, I've identified as a male for 26 years.  Does that make me a veteran of my gender?

Second, bugs.  Every game has them.  For any fans to think their new MMO won't have them is just silly.  Conversely, for any haters to criticize any new MMO for having them in beta or post launch is equally silly.

Third, what's with the random jab at TOR thrown in there at the end?  It has nothing to do with any other part of the post and just serves to make you look bad.

I disagree.  Vanguard was a great game killed by launch bugs.  Its still a great game and all the bugs are fixed but it will never have a decent population or enough money to fund new content because it failed so badly at launch.  GW2 needs to be better than that.

    Put it this way:

GW2's demo in 2010 was more polished than every MMO post launch i've ever seen.

GW2's demo in 2011 could be released as a final product in any genre and no-one would claim it was 'buggy'.

They're so happy with the closed beta feedback that they're ready to have a press beta in February. Yes, the perfectionists think it's time to let the world's media take a look at their baby.

So, ya, pretty sure the game is going to be very solid at release. Arenanet do tend to be good with bugs. GW1 didn't have too many iirc.

i really loled at that comment, misspell indeed, not editing it tho, just for the sake of sarcasm.

second, yes, i do get emotional, and have a hard time keeping my thoughts confined, so i write them down in a forum, isnt that their point of existance in the first place?

BIG EFFING NO. Place for your thoughts is your blog, diary (electronic or paper, you choose). Your thoughts have no validity or value for the rest of the world. Unless you bring up something interesting to discuss, analyze, debate - please keep them for yourself.

This forum already has 2127 threads... no need to make searching for other people even harder. Or am I lying to myself? Does anyone even use search nowadays? Or everyone is like "OH, I have nothing to say, but I have my precious EMO THOUGHTS... I guess i should share them with the universe.. "

Nobody sane wants GW2 to have buggy release. It's bad publicity, it's bad for future sales, it's food for haters (yes, we want them to starve to death :> )

Even if GW2 is b2p that doesn't mean bad release won't have backlash. Look at Brink... it flopped badly at release. Not sure if many people still play it, I surely don't, even thou i preordered.

Back to OP. If you have stress from life.... Was thinking about writing something useful... but then - we don't care.

    /anger mode off

You should know by now when it comes to new releases in the MMO world that you should keep your personal hype meter in check.I've become even more cautious with every release since WoW.Im excited about GW2, but with the number of let downs from the MMO industry I just can't fully embrace the hype.Fool me once shame on you, full me 5 times shame the hell on me.

  • dllddlld Member UncommonPosts: 615

Even if it has severe launch bugs it won't matter as much because it doesn't have a sub so you can just came back after 1-2 months.

I agree, you are absolutely right.

People get burned to many times by hype media and in the end most of those mmos are just one big letdown.

    Keep fingers crossed for GW2.

There's one huge bug with GW2 right now.

I can't get it to download.

Once that one is fixed, I'm good. ;-)
