probably because most arebusy enjoying playing the game, i highly doubt that they particulalry care about fluff veteran rewards when theres much more pressing concerns and content to look forward to in awakening. Seems like only those who dont play mo care about the veteran rewards. Im not going to claim that they didnt deliver jsut yet though ill wait and see vby awakening if the veteran reward arent in then fine. But in reality the devs shouldnt of told gm theia they can do something unless they actually can do it, cause it ends up making theia look like black opal.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
Guys, it seems like you're out to shoot the messenger here. All that does is leave you with one less messenger.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
While I would like my veteran reward and think a company should be held accountable for what they promise, I also think people must sometimes understand the situation. MO is understaffed and has many problems...bug fixing and polishing the new expansion should be the number one priority. I think all verterans would agree they would rather have the new expansion than some fluff veteran rewards.
I do think the way they un-announced the rewards was pathetic. They should just be upfront with the community and tell us they are working on other things and have delayed the veteran rewards instead of trying to sneak it under our noses by deleting the post. I think the majority of players would understand.

The classic SV approach to something that people are demanding is to tout that it's "right around the corner".
Veteran rewards never existed and probably don't even exist yet. It's the same story that up until now was true for Tindrem, and is still true for Lore, genes, "townlife", and much much more.
Their development is slow, their content is little. The only way you can survive with that is pulling out the PR hype machines.
Personally as a buyer of the boxed version, that allready paid close to 90 Euros for nothing, i will not feel its ok to get some ingame social crap as compensation for a product that havent being delivered to me yet. Veteran rewards should be something that SV should implement for all of us that stayed around for all this time and suffered all the crap by their side regarding MO, crappy patches, downtimes, gamebreaking bugs, crashes, exploiters and exploits, half assed placeholders, not working mechanics, awfull customer care services, total lack of communication by their side etc etc and still i dont mind at all if they dont even implement it. Announce it and not delivering it or being totaly out of schedule and making 0 comments about it, its another story though but cant say i m impressed since i dont expect anything better by their side after all this time.
The best veteran reward as far as I am concerned is a full and complete refund with interest at normal business capital investment rates.
Anything else is theft, since ingame intellectual property (also known as pretty pixels) has NO ACTUAL MONETARY VALUE.
I agree that the ethical thing do do once realizing they could not deliver the promised product as sold was to refund the difference between the two versions or at least offer that option.

Come on guys there is only one reason they deleted the whole thread. Just like they deleted the official statement by Opal about the disks. They want people to forget about it. The average MO supporter has a very short memory.
One of the last things Theia said in the thread prior to deletion was they could not tell the difference from a boxed version buyer or a digital copy buyer. Which I totally believe. They have no experience in handling a business and I am sure they would not have the fore thought to think maybe at a later time besides the initial purchase we may need to know what they bought.
This was discussed at a meeting last week, work is ongoing. There's some work to do around separation but the DB was fine. I'll try to get an update.

Just wanted to point out that it's been a week since Thea was supposedly getting an update. Of course.. it's been 8 weeks since he promised and staked his credibility (and those of his company) that the rewards would be rolled out in a week.
I wonder where he has been as lots of folks on here have been asking questions... but they all go unanswered...
Edit: Also still waiting for his explanation as to why his own "promise" thread was erased on the official forums...

So an employee of SV tells us that he stakes his reputation (and SV's) on an issue symbolic of the bad feeling many hold for his company, and that we should judge him on the results as they try to improve the companies image - and you have no problem with them deleting official posts and ignoring the matter?

No wonder you are still an SV "customer".
The official post was about "do you want a veteran reward?" We answered yes, he told us "OK, we are working on it" and he deleted the post.
When they have news they will open a new post, I don't see the problem.
"So I want to close this issue and if not in the original way as promised with DVDs with something else.
I've got an official response from Henrik on this issue last night. We had a long chat around this and some of the other issues you guys have been raising as well as some of the history too. Henrik is really happy that there is this dialogue and is supporting me in trying to move through this.
So I am announcing today - here first - that we will shortly be rolling out Veteran Rewards to the Community.
"
"This is a direct response to the long awaited DVDs and an apology for not delivering on those as promised. "
" I accept that there is a risk to my credibility if SV does not come through with this promise. They will and I will too. "
Some Cliffes notes for you.
It is not "do you want a reward", it was Theia saying Henrik had authorised one and it would be ingame within weeks. Theia then stakes his credibility on it getting into game in that short time period.
So far his credibility, by his own measure, is about on a par with Henrik's near an effluent outlet.
The comunity don't read mmorpg.com and we don't know nothing :-P
So, who cares? it will be a sourprise, maybe they are waiting for something.
And I still don't get it, you don't like the game why are you waiting for this veteran reward?
The "Veteran Reward" was brought up on this forum first by GMTHEA in response to the continued complaints that SV failed to deliver what they sold to folks that ordered the boxed version of the game and never received the updated DVDs/CDs that were sold and promised.
As someone who originally pre-ordered the boxed version of the game, and subsequently received a chargeback from the credit card due to non-delivery, I am naturally interested in this issue.
Maybe we can stay focused on the actual issue and not other posters though.
GMTHEA said on these very forums that they would implement this as compensation for those who did not get what they were sold. He said it would be a week or so... he said he would keep updating the community. HE (not I) specifically staked the credibility of himself and his company on that fact.
8 weeks later.. thread deleted... no compensation provided. No update provided except for a short response (in reply to the linked thread) that he would get an update... over a week ago.

I find it funny how all the people that don't play the game anymore or have never played it are trying to make such a big deal out of these veteran rewards when people who actually play the game don't care about them...we want the new expansion and more polish not some stupid fluff items.

How long have you been waiting for that? I mean seriously... it has been a broken bugfest with EVERY expansion or patch, so I don't know how you guys keep holding on expecting the "next time" to be different.
I find it funny how all the people that don't play the game anymore or have never played it are trying to make such a big deal out of these veteran rewards
Why?
Theia said this was about winning back the trust and confidence of disaffected customers specifically so it absolutely involves us. That's why he made the announcement here first, in direct response to questions and concerns put forward here .
If you have no problem getting ripped off, why are you in this thread is a more germane question.
Hopefully we don't give a few on these forums a reason to try and get this thread closed. I'm actually very interested in a response from Thea considering that he/she staked his and SV's reputation on these vet rewards being delivered.

The only question I have for fans of the game is: If this was SOE/Cryptic/EA, would you put up with not receiving a promised reward?

A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true...
I'm a vet who would rather see one bug fixed than get a veteran reward.
Stupid thread.
Fine. But why would an official rep for the company promise they will be providing a reward they do not intent/can't provide?
A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true...
Shit happens. I am more suprised about the fact that they are trying tos weep the matter under a rug, by deleting the original thread.
