It makes no odds what they sell in the shop, GW2 must be defended at all costs. Seriously there is pretty much nothing that could be sold in their shop that the gw2 fans will not play the game over. This is the mentality, you draw one line in the sand, when they step over it you get pissed (at worst) and draw another line.
I don´t agree with that, there are things a B2P or P2P game can´t sell in their shops.
However, EQ2 had XP pots for years in it´s shop while it was still a P2P game and the complaints were not that big. Heck I often gets scroll like thatin GW1 and always vendortrash them. I see no use for them myself since I actually enjoy leveling up (at least usually, it gets annoying in games with very little content).
If someone levels faster than me using pots, who cares? Someone will always level faster than me ayways.
Now, if they start to sell loose dungeons and zones things are different, that sucks. It is hard enough to find players for a dungeon without only being able to recruit players who bought a specific dungeon from the cash shop.
As for items with statsI usually cares, but if GW2 sells them I don´t care as long as similar items can be found in game. The reason for that is that all lvl 80 gear is balanced against other lvl 80 gear so even the easiest to get lvl 80 armor will be about as good as any other lvl 80 gear.
I wont like if they are selling runes though, at least in GW1 some of them were very expensive and hard to get.
I do have a very different opinion on what things P2P should be able to sell (nothing), B2P and F2P. F2P games only lives on the item shop so they have a lot more space. P2P games on the other hand already have me paying for getting the game, any expansion and then another 15 bucks, if they can´t give me all content for that sum they just are greedyl.
like i told before i was just asking, because i heard the rumors on guildwars2guru, not trolling, but werver i don´t care what you think.
And how it can damage u? if they sell better, lets say things to improve weapons and other stuff, or things that are really hard to craft to get them,
seling a powerfull item in the shop doesnt effect people in a game that items are not its driving force. If you sell an epic in WoW its a big deal since it can make or break the damage done by a player. In GW2 items althought have stats and those stats effect you in a way it's not so much that an item will make you better than any one else in the game, althought i doudt they will sell items in the shop IF they sell them and iam able to get equivalent items from drops with out much grinding(remember up till now their tantra is "no grind by plaers")then i wont mind...ill be a bit jealous if its some awesome sauwesome epic looking item :P but since even random drops even in GW1 were awesome looking i wont mind. Also the only place an item can break balance is in PvP and since WvWvW is mass pvp were it doesnt matter how many you kill but how much points you get by capturing things, its not a big deal and in competitive PVP(the 5v5 one)everything in the game is unlocked. So the argument of item selling is demolished.
In a nutshel,in a game where in PvP(in stractured you have every item unlocked for you) items dont make a big diference and PVE if you cant dodge then you are f@cked even with the best items, the whole "omg he bought an epic" argument just crumbles
Now i understand you like the game and asking questions is not a bad thing. Its just that your question was looking a bit trollish :P and in responce atracted bashers(i want call them trolls just yet)well you can expect a bit of defence for the game.
Now just remember,as long as you dont have a bonus in stats against other players and zones/dungeons then it cant make this game unfair. Its just that people fall in the P2W idea and cant even think for themselves some times.
1st of all, with regard to Cash Shops of any kind in any game, a healthy level of skepticism is not a bad thing. There are a lot of blind faith assumptions floating around on these boards. People are assuming what will and will not be in the Cash Shop. And beyond that they have already determined the value of said items to be sold as worthless. Frankly that is an absurd assumption. AN has said nothing about what it will and won't sell. It's foolish to make such assumptions based on something “logically deduced” (without any facts whatsoever). I doubt very much that whatever (else) will be in that shop will be useless and/or worthless. Most rational people won't spend money on something that has no value. Also, one thing I have learned about Cash Shops: What's in the shop doesn't matter. If the item is valuable (even to some) and trade-able, you have the foundation for a P2W model game. Especially if the item is consumable and not easy to get.
I am not saying that those of you who have been dealing with AN over the years and trust the company should stop because there is a shop in the game. It's the opposite, I'd say that is probably the best indication of an MMO company being responsible about what they sell. Past behavior is a good indication of future behavior. Those of you who have said that AN has been responsible with their previous cash shops and so therefore they will probably continue to be in the future, have in my opinion presented the most compelling argument for defending GW2's Cash Shop iintentions. And is the only reason I will hold out a small level of faith that theirs will be fine.
