I'm guessing...no. None of the videos or anything has said or shown a thing about mounts, outside of the siege ones in world vs world.

No. you can fast travel to any location you have discovered

  • EzhaeEzhae Member UncommonPosts: 735

Nope. It's running only and once You run past a waypoint You can then teleport to it from the map, which eliminates the need for mounts as a form of quicker travel.

No, though they may at a later date, but seriously hope they dont, not needed.

Nah they won't have them at launch.

They aren't a need but a want. ANET really doesn't like the idea but never said they'll never add them in, personally it might be wishful thinking, but it is possible, if you think about it, it's like remaking or making another game with them, I don't think ANET wants to half ass mounts.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.

nope . they might add cosmetic mounts later. And the siege golems its like the ram from Warhammer online and Daoc.

Personally I'd prefer to them to either not add them at all or come up with some amazing and actually working mount-combat system so they would actually serve some purpose other than show-off/faster running.

Still if a game has mechanics in place that make mounts obsolate from gameplay point of view, no point of forcing them in just as "fan service".

If they bring mounts, they should hopefully do animations for them.

WoW had the worst mounts I've personally experienced in any game. Your character was a statue on the mount and the camera bobbed up and down really fast...I NEVER used mounts in that game, because of how horrible the animation was. It gave me a headache, literally.

    Yea  same here.

Like I said above I'm sure that is at least one of their reason's for not doing it because they don't want a poor mount system. They also don't want to add them in only to say " Well patch such and such will make em better so be on the look out!!!" where as what they are looking to do might not work so they can't meet expectations.

Like I believe that's why player housing, guild halls/houses are coming after launch because they want to make it robust I'm sure and very well designed to fit the rest of their game.

After looking at other games having a "just there" system sort of hurts games rather than help.

I remember asking this question to Colin back in 2010 when I was at GC.

He said if many people wanted mounts in the game, we would think about adding them but the mounts won't have any speed advantage, it will just be to look cool.

  • gaeanprayergaeanprayer Member UncommonPosts: 2,341

    Yes and no.

The "no" comes in right away, there's no mounts at launch. Period.

The "yes" is more a possibility. They've already stated that if people actually want them, they'll add them. And people very clearly want them. However, they don't like giving people advantages over one another that doesn't involve skill, which leads to some quotes where they are stated as saying if/when they add them, they won't come with a speed advantage.

Guild Wars 1 had mounts, but they were not about speed. They had battle mechanics, such as the gigantic wurms in Nightfall. I'd be willing to bet that, if mounts make it into GW2 (which seems likely, even if it doesn't happen for some time) Anet will approach them in a similar way. I, for one, think it would be cool to have some kind of aquatic mount that lets you explore and travel to the other eventual continents (Cantha/Elona).

    [Mod Edit].I'd actually love it.

Easier to single out people who'd buy those and kill them over and over and over again xD

There is no information about that for now. I would like possibility to have mounts and to have choice to customize them. But, if Arenanet is going about that like in original GW, where there was no need for mounts because you could travel instantly from city to city once you discovered that region, slim chance for that.

No, he can't use a map to find the coordinates. That's not approved by the MTMC. The lobbyist made sure of that.

EVERYONE MUST WALK FROM NOW ON. HAHA.

Yeah, it's pretty silly. Kind of like the engineer profession.

Actually merchants use dolyaks caravans which can also be found in WvWvW, they are not ridable though.

Do horses exist in the guild wars world?

None that I have ever seen. Only mounts ever seen were the npcs Dolyaks, Drakes, Turtles and Snow Beasts  and player controlled Junundu Desert Wurm and Siege Devourers.

There are npcs called Necrid Hourseman and the Banshee Dream Riders and those are the only mounts that even remotely look like horses.

can someone explain me the ongoing need for mounts??

I seriously dont get it... WTF is so exciting about running on some weird beast instead of simply running ?? I get it that ONCE mounts are in they make u run lesser time so you are forced to buy them to be on equal with other players...but when they out, noone is faster thus there is no need for getting them, even more when theres instant travel system...

This question is on these forums every second week for god sake

I feel like either me or all the mount lovers/fanatics are retarded O.o

(Sorry for my bad mood, I've been doing engineering homeworks for 10 hours straight - one does not simply smile after that)

I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them

So what!?! Many also works hard jobs in shifts rangeing from 8 to 14 hours and you dont see other using that as a excuse. Be a man/women and stand by your words. And if you dont like mounts, dont use them. And if you dont like this kind of threads, dont go reading them. I mean, this is reason why forums exist in a first place. A place where you can freely aks questions and exchange ideas and opinions how ridiculous may seem to someone.

well i would love the mounts just a bit more speed walking to quests and combat mounts would be awesome but mainly just to make the character cool , a nice dark eyed horse or something like that.

I would personally rather have mounts than quick travel.  No flying mounts though.
