The Ultimate GW2 Launch Plan?

ProfRedProfRed Member UncommonPosts: 3,495

What is the ultimate plan to conquer Guild Wars 2 when the 3 day head start hits?  If you aren't in on the 3 day head start for pre orders then you are not welcome here.  Your words hold the weight of a kookaburra feather.  This is srs.

My ultimate plan is to make my first group character to play with friends.  The ultimate Guardian.  So now I have a main char to play with my friends.  At this point you may be asking yourself, 'How is this a plan?  This is just creating a character and playing the game.  It is what I do.  This is what I was made for.  Game that ish up."

Here is the twist.  The big Shamalan moment.  At this point I will use my remaining character slots to make wuvwuv characters and ship them off to the eternal battlegrounds where they will reside from level 2-80.  They will be carved in blood, and their meals will be the intestines of lesser players.

How is this not the ultimate plan?  You get the story, you get unlocks from story, you get co-op, and then you have always ready instant action dynamic pew pew with mutliple classes at various skill levels.  Ultimate.

Who cares about head starts, the PvE part of the game breaths casuall all over.

There is no reason to rush, no reason at all.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Pretty much what lord bachus said.

I think a lot will matter on the guild you choose to join. I.e. are they willing to do PvE and PvP/WvW.

Currently waiting for the MMO industry to put out something good.

Rushing is absolutly pointless in this game, even though I will be playing on the 3-day head start, because of everything there is to do and basically being considered top level for everything with sidekicking up or down, there really is no point to rush for anything.

Yea, dont see a reason to PL to cap. With no raids, I dont think people will PL to be the first ones to conquerer this or that. There will always be people who want to be first but that attitude will be severly diminished with this game. This game for me will be more about enjoying the journey.

I am going to powerlevel to 30 so i can get my elite! :P

I will avoid the head start. I even think to wait foe a week, but might not withstand the temption :)

It most probably will be annoyingly crowded.

Theres no way I could avoid my most anticipated game of all time by waiting for the crowds to die down.  If I put up with the headstarts of the likes of SWTOR/Rift/WAR then by god I can put up with GW2's lol.

I m all about the journey and WVWVW in this game. I could care less if I m a month behind people who geta 3 day headstart. I ve rushed in games before, only to say, why the hell did I rush to end game for this. If I can somewhat help in end game pvp at a lower level then anyone else, I could care less, as long as it s fun.

I don't rush games because I'm too into getting to know everything and expressing that knowledge to those willing to listen but I do love me some Collector's editions so head start is always welcome.

    This is not a game.

Mu ultimate plan is to give each of the classes I like a good try out so I can find which one I want as my main.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

like he said headstart = bad b/c u will get in on a server thats hardcore with big queue for login, battle ground, WvW.  Better wait till later to start on a new server with less ppl playing so no queue at all.

  • ProfRedProfRed Member UncommonPosts: 3,495

Oh man I drank too much cough syrup this morning.

My plan is to have one story char that groups well and fill the rest of my slots with characters that I want to WvWvW with and leave them in various places in the eternal battlegrounds from level 2-80 so at any time I can jump on one of them for a quick PvP fix or longer sieges, etc.  I can supply them with my story char and drops from WvWvW.

Just feel like it will give the most variation and instant PvP gratification.

You really think people powerlevel to start grinding end game dungeon? people do it mostly because they can, not to mention 'the world's first' epeen status that comes along with it.

during the head start, my plan is to wake up, eat breakfast, go to work, come home, play a couple hours, go to bed, rinse and repeat.

Will hope lots of my friends play and ya will make a ton of alts.

Only wvwvw will be able to have queues, but if WvWvW is a mainfocus for someone then yes it is best to wait.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)

I'll definitely pre-purchase from NCSoft for the full three day headstart, (sorry Amazon).

I hope to settle on a primary profession during the Beta Weekend Events, so, even though I'm an alt-a-holic, I actually plan on playing my primary character through to 80 before starting alts. I don't want to be distracted by other things. I may take that character into WvW from time to time during the headstart and opening week, but I primarily plan to follow to Personal Story and where ever in the game world that leads me.

Rush? No Rush? I anticipate I'll be playing many, many hours during the first week. Not with the intention of rushing, I won't be skipping dialogue or looking for the most efficient ways to gain XP, but I will play the heck out of the game. Cool thing about GW2 is that even if I stick to the top 5% of the initial leveling wave, I don't have to worry about outleveling content , or leaving my more casual friends and guildmates behind. :)

If the overflow system works as intended, this shouldnt happen at all, as far as i understand it.

The overflow server does not include the WvWvW because its a temp server until room is made on your home server. Overflow server is there so you dont have to wait around for queue and allows you to mess with PvE until you can go back to home server.

My ultimate launch plan is to use the three days to convince the wife to finally ditch WoW and come over to GW2.  I tried the "...we have cookies..." thing, but it hasn't worked that well yet.

I just know I'll be spending the majority of the first head start day making my girls, then exploring the cities. Then just exploring the world with a group of close friends from WoW.

As pointless as it is and I agree with every sentiment here.  It still begs the question that this is my most anticipated MMO since WoW and I plan on taking a week off work to play religiously for 16+ hours a day.  Yes I am looking forward to its wonder and glory this much lol.
