Warhammer Online..Older gamer?

Hi

Been playing a little bit but I heard it gets PVP centric and being a 60 + gamer will it take more speed and agility than i can muster......I'm looking for something with depth?

Also i'm not into the headset thing to play

Warhammer online is definately a pvp centered mmo, but i would hardly call it an agility intensive game, not anymore then WoW is i guess. if you have problems with WoW then maybe.....

it's not like a FPS game or anything where it's all about reflexes.

headset? you dont have to use a headset unless you are in a guild, and even then you could put a mike with a stand on the table and use your speakers.....or just not use altogether.

not sure about depth. never got to end level but from what i heard it's pretty much all about grinding pvp level and getting gear. there aren't many games that have depth. EvE is a "slow" game with a lot of depth. can't think of many others.

Back when I used to play warhammer (I left after my server merged into another server and the balance went way to the other side -- I couldnt take them invading altdorf 4 times per day) I had a really REALLY hard time finding a guild to accept me without using ventrillo or other voice software and it was only reluctantly that I got into a fairly decent guild which happened to be in the alliance I wanted to be in (that is the backdoor -- if you find a guild you want to be in but it wont take you because you do not use voice -- find out the other guilds in its alliance and check those. )  Note that they still gave a lot of orders in voice that I didnt hear due to not using voice and it did make it hard to get guild groups for the 1/5 day dungeon.

As for twitchyness and PVP -- THAT shouldnt be a problem.  The game is not that twitchy by mmo standards.  Certainly less so than a game like WoW even when it comes to pvp.  I'd recommend playing a tank or a healer as a older gamer vs a dps to make that aspect even less an issue.

My problem with WOW was mostly  just killing mosters over and over..did a little crafting though.

i believe you will kill monsters over and over in warhammer too. They are similar games, Difference is war has more focus on pvp, still you have to grind gear

sadly that's pretty much how 99% of mmos work especially for levelling purpouses. War is no different. lots of "kill x, collect Y" quests. the fun thing about War was that there were a lot of pvp objectives in all the levelling zones and, back in the day when it was populated, you would get into a lot of pvp wile levelling. you would actually level mostly with pvp. it was actually pretty fun.

now days unfortunately the game is extemely top heavy and the middle zones are just too empty to find pvp. so you are left with levelling through quests.

there are very very very few games that dont have that "kill monsters over and over".

if you like crafting and building you could try Wurm, for a sandbox/crafting game. the graphics are not taht great though, but the freedom  to build, craft and teraform are unparalleled. while there is pvp in Wurm it's really not very exciting at all.

You really have to give a better description of what you are looking for. Warhammer has a pvp focus and there isn't a whole lot of depth to the game. If you do enjoy pvp the game can be fun at times but it has a lot of balance issues between newer/older players.

What exactly are you looking for? Does it have to be an MMO? You say you are tired of killing monsters over and over. What do you want to do? Craft, roleplay, socialize? Most games dont usually have a hit on everything but some games do certain things very well.

Well..This may sound strange i've actually thought of a pay text type mmo..but im basically a two finger typer and I iried a text mmo when i got my first computer but it was on AOL and i believe I was either charged by the hour or half hour and it was expensive......If i could find one that is fun ,,that might work

Sheesh...  Warhammer actually is a lot different from a lot of the other MMOs.

Public Quests were invented by Warhammer.  These are very nice at lower levels but I do not know if there is enough population to really do them these days.  Back when I played warhammer when it released, they were rocking.

There IS a story to Warhammer...  It does have some depth to it, even if the standard questing is a little weak.

It is easy to get most of your EXP from the Scenarios and RvR.  And realm rank plays a huge role in how powerful you are and the primary role at higher levels.

It DOES have crafting and you can switch your gathering and get low level stuff off high level monsters for if you switch your crafting..  It worked quite well actually.

Warhammer was one of the few games where I left not due to not liking the game anymore but due to external factors.  IE Make sure you are not playing on the absolute losing side of the realm war.  This was inflicted on me via server merge.

the more you try and explain this the more i get confused....

are you saying you want a pvp game that is slow, and you can play it with 2 fingers?.....what exactly are you getting at?...if slow combat and depth is what you want then by all means give EvE a try. you can do the combat in EvE with only your mouse and the game does have a lot of depth and requires a serious time sink to be succesful.

the comunity in EvE is also one of the most mature i've ever experienced, and they take their game seriously.

Warhammer Online was the best MMO ever at one time with the best PvP...then Mythic....and then EA hosed it.....All the free players in Tier 1 and all the vets in Tier 4 and no one in Tier 2 and 3....should have made the first 3 tiers free to play.
