Arenanet seems very much open to changes with their item shop and listening to the community. I figure it would be very productive if people stated what they consider decent to put in an item shop. I just want to lay down one rule for this thread.
No commenting on other peoples post.
This thread is to get a list of what people consider acceptable and not get in endless debate about other peoples opinions.

"Ubber potion of kill Nethriil instantly" would be ok I think.
I only consider things acceptable if they:
A. Are not a substitute for normal progression in the game (exp boosters, better weapons, gold, etc.).
B. Do not offer an advantage over a player who didn't spend money (P2W).
Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?
I would say anything that is not related to empowering the player.
I'm fine with cosmetic stuff but when people start winning PvP or making PvE boring because they bought items from the cash shop, well that's just bad game design imo.
3 legged cow
Expansions, server tranfers, name changes and appareance changes.
I don't like shop exclusive items, so anything you can get ingame through normal means would ok to also be in the item shop.
My god has horns.... nah, I don't think he is real either.
As long as the game itself doesn't feel like it's penalizing you for not purchasing from the shop then I'm fine with the ANet putting whatever they want in the shop. It's their game and they can put whatever they want in it. I'll play the game and get the CE regardless. They've worked their butts off on this game and they make a living off of what they create. Heaven forbid we support the devs through micro transactions.
Oh and i could care less about XP boosts because really does it matter you are 5 levels lower then Joe who bought a booster and plays all day ? It's not like they can get above the level cap either so yeah......
Other boosts like gold or pvp currency ones might be a bit unfair though as they do empower the player, in the end, to get more gear quickly which can then result in certain groups having a large advantage over others.
Anything that boosts character power above what a non-cash shop player can achieve.
I think companies should either have subscription models with no cash shop whatsoever, or F2P / B2P where they sell cosmetic and convenience items.
I really hate games that force you to buy to stay competitive at end-game, and the worst is when they make it require a subscription at end game and then they also sell cosmetic and convenience gear. Yes I am referring to SoE... the EQ1 / EQ2 F2P models are a disgusting example of pure greed.
I'm sorry, but if you are charging a subscription, or require one to remain competitive at end game, you shouldnt be selling appearance gear... that should be getting put in game for all players to access.
The only things I'm okay with are things that are purely cosmetic, or account services (character renames, transfers, additional character slots, etc).
