Funny part is. I was completely shocked first time I saw the news about this. Not because it's awesome technology but because I had a dream I was wearing something very similar 6 or 7 years ago. I was walking down the street getting all kinds of info fed to me through a visor, about restaurants and their ratings, shops and local attractions.

The cool part of that story is,  I told quite a few people about that dream including my ex the very next day, and some of these people still remember it. When I saw the news about this technology I imidiately contacted some of the people I told. We all pretty much agree it's a freaky coincidence. If I hadn't told people about it then, then nobody would have believed it.

An always on mobile wireless connection. And how much is that alone going to cost?

They already do this for mobile phones, thats fifty or so a month for 4g level unlimited data.

I really like the possibilities that tech like this offer, just not the current... wrapping. The product shown in the video is catered to the kind of hipster that spends way too much time on randompointlessgossipbook.

Some applications I would actually be interested in:

-3d visualization of a model, whether extrapolated from diagrams or other sources

-facial recognition, I am horrible with remembering faces and names, I cannot count the number of times I've had a conversation with someone I knew before, trying to remember who the hell he/she is the entire time.

-Driving assistance, done right, the thing could easily be made to track and visually display the position of cars relative to my own, as well as warn me if one is behaving erratically. NOTE: attempting to use the things for anything more complicated than a basic phone call while driving should in my opinion cause the device to notifiy the highway patrol, just saying.

yeah i agree, i'm more interested in the glasses as more of a pda and easy way to get information on places and things around me. I can also see the benefits of this in emergency situations as well since you can just start transmitting your location and video rather than have to get your phone and call 911 and frantically tell them whats happening.

They should just implant something like that in our brains. Much easier!

I know this probably seems really far away into the future for most of us, but actually it is super close.  The technology is all there.  I wouldnt be surprised if google starts selling these in 1-5 years.

I can't imagine having a screen that close to ones eyes is good for them either.

There's a trick to projecting images on glass that solves that particular issue. Your eyes can focus on virtual "objects" that can appear to be anywhere from four inches to a dozen yards away. For an example if you haven't seen the things before, check out the Video glasses located here.

I envision even more people walking blindly out into traffic than already do with cell phones and iPods. This will magnify that issue by a factor of about 100. People will be too distracted by their glasses to see what is through them and BAM!!! Someone will be scraping them off a bus grill.
