So in other MMOs especially in world PvP there are often cases where players DC themselves/exit the gane to avoid being killed. From my experience with GW1 and by just looking and feeling how the GW2 client behaves it semms like you can freely quit whenever you want. This is just speculation, but I would like if someone could share sine info on this,(Yea im talking to you who got into last beta)
Just some basic numbers, sort of off topic.
While having my Aion client open(login screen) it uses 450K memory.
While Guild Wars 2 client open it only uses 150K.
Thats as much as one of my tabs in google chrome uses, lol.

You forgot to explain where you see a problem. It's true that anyone can quit any multiplayer game anytime they want. What's wrong with that?
MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).
Okay, lets say you are near to kill a player. He has 1000hp left then he suddenly disappears. WTF where did he go you think. Oh he pulled the cable.
My fear for GW2 is that they will have no disconnection feature avaible, that delays your character from leaving the world after you log out.
You can disconect anything while playing, dont see how that is a problem anet can solve. but in WvW you dont gain points for kills to your total server score, you get points through what your server owns at the specific times when the score tally's
Or he's a thief that stealths from a downed state (they can actually do that one it looks real cool)
Yea, but for example in Aion. Your character is still in the world for 10-15 seconds after you log out/DC/pull cable. I just hope GW2 will have the same otherwise this would be really annoying sometimes.
In every MMORPG I've played, when someone disconnects, their character remains in game for a certain period of time.
Now, can you teleport away from combat while in combat? I don't know for sure as I've never seen anyone try it. But I highly doubt it.
Yeah, it is annoying in games where the dc causes the character to instantly logout. Some games solve it by letting the character be online for 10 seconds after the game is closed/disconnected.
I am also curious about how Arenanet has handled that issue.
It can be a problem if you get points for each kill you make, we have no idea if that's the case so far. However, chances are the big bulk of PvP points you'll get are from completing objectives, in which case disconnecting yourself might actually be shooting yourself in the foot, since while you do steal the kill from your enemy, whichever objective you were trying to attack or defend are now lost, and in the case of structured PvP, your team is now is outnumbered by one.
What can men do against such reckless hate?
In GW1 if you ALT+F4 the client or pull the cable when being attacked, quite likely you will be dead before the server decides you have disconnected, I've discovered that more than once when attempting the Survivor title. Didn't get into GW2 beta and if I had done that would have been some way down the list of things I'd have wanted to try, so can't comment if it would work that way there too. As for Aion, I'm not sure if it possible to force-log without a client hack.
Well, I think they won't insta-logout your character in the middle of a fight. Usually it's 20 sec after you hit the logout button unless you're in a major city and out of combat. At least so it was in all MMOs I played.

What if you're about to kill someone and they turn their monitor off?
How will arenanet address this glaring, game-breaking issue?
Peek-a-boo! I can't see you!
I can see your point. This issue is particularly prevalent in Eve from what I hear.
In most MMOs I have played though, if you pull the cable / Alt-F4 or whatever, your character remains in game for a period of time, frozen in place and not doing anything, but still able to be killed. This is certainly the case in GW1 so I expect it to be the case in GW2 too.
In GW1 it was possible to reconnect to your character after being DC'ed due to internet dropout etc for quite some time, and your char remained in game.
Fanboys - stop jumping all over the OP for posting a legitimate concern. You people really need to stop flaming down everyone who posts anything critical about this game.

150k Oo? are u playing on ultra?
In darkfall your body stays in game for 5 mins before it disapprears....
So you learn real fast dont disconnect or buy a better online service....

hahaha this made me laugh!! Great job lol
In most games there's a way around it. i kno for sure there was one in Aion which was used as an example. if you left the task manager open and killed the program through it you would automatically dissapear, as people with high ap did it ofter
i understand your point of view it happen the same whit Aion people use lag hack . vid is below if you wanna know what is it.
there is diferent kind of lag Switch on console and pc.
but game nowdays even if u DC the client you still ingame for few sec before dc ,so i dont think gw2 will have that tho is very rare see a mmo game whit hack
from my understanding WvW isnt so much about killing players as it is Taking Keeps, and Castles. so it doesnt matter if someone ninja logs.
I've got the straight edge.
You see this as a problem? I think it's hilarious when I make people rage quit.
consider that a WIN
I saw that in a video and the answer is no, u cant teleport while in combat.
OP its only a problem if you DC then come straight back within a spam of 10 seconds.
Like an Thief's stealth but with DC
But if you are DC then you are out of the W v W and another in line joins and you are back of the line to get back in, then no its not a problem.
For structure PVP, if you come straight back and you are out of the match and you need to join a new one, then no it doesn't matter. But if its a few minutes then also no, it doesn't matter because the ones that DCed just caused themselves the game to avoid a kill.
And since PVE has no Open world PVP involved, there will be no reason to DC unless its against an PVE boss, then it also only affects you.
I really do not expect this DC to be a problem.
But the one problem that does bring is the many available Hacks out there. In SWTOR there is the Speed Hack, Invincible Hack, and Walk through walls Hack and many others that I don't know about. IF Anet can prevent them from affecting the game, then I find no problems with the current system mechanic.
Life is a Maze, so make sure you bring your GPS incase you get lost in it.
And i too remember from my time playing GW1 that it pretty much felt like a web browser. I could open up the game+login+enter the gameworld in about 10-15 seconds or so, and pressing alt+f4 closed the whole game instantly. It felt very lightweight. I'll be glad if it's also similar like this in GW2.
