Pretty unbelivable that they would choose to announce this the day prior to the patch going live. I wonder how many pvpers they got to resub before pulling a bait and switch. Despicable if you ask me.
Hey everybody,
It is with great reluctance that I have to announce Ranked Warzones are not going live with Game Update 1.2: Legacy. We had a fantastic run of testing on the Public Test Server and I can’t begin to thank the community enough for their tireless advocacy for this feature and the time people took to file bugs and voice their concerns.
After careful consideration, it is clear that to make Ranked Warzones the feature we all want it to be is going to take a bit more time. I apologize for any disappointment this may cause and ask for your patience as we work to make sure the Ranked Warzone Preseason launch is polished and fun. With Legacy, the new Warzone, Operation, and Flashpoint, as well as many other amazing features of Game Update 1.2 ready to go, we're very excited for tomorrow's additions.
In the future we'll be rolling the Ranked Warzone Preseason out in phases, listening carefully to player feedback and making adjustments as we go. The first phase will be full team, eight-player queuing only and from there we'll look at next steps as Preseason progresses. In the meantime we have provided an alternate purchase route for War Hero gear so you can start building your set while figuring out your teams.

With all the things they are adding at the same time, the potentional bugs and imballances, Im glad they postpone that actually.
But I agree it would have been nice if they mentioned that sooner, on the otherhand.. they didnt really promise it would come then either.
Wow, the pile of fail growing fast.
Something wasn't done as well as they would like in the timeframe they were shooting for, so they decide to wait instead releasing it unfinished... And somehow the trolls still find a way to call this a failure.
Design takes time, and you can't always stay on schedule. Programming takes time, and is even harder to schedule. Then testing, then back to design, then off to programming... Things take time and won't happen instantly. Get over it.
I think people would be more understanding of that if Bioware didn't tell them about it the day before the patch. That just sucks IMO.
Ya.. wow, just wow.
Hopefully that'll be the last bit of info relating to problems with this patch. This is kind of the last ditch effort for a lot of people playing this game. I know some people who used to be extremely die-hard fans, and are having more and more trouble justifying their decisions (to themselves) for sticking w/ the game.
this is great news actually. means I can just go ahead and cancel .. something I should have done months ago .. but I still have a few friends who play it.
I don't regret playing the game except that as a side effect, I gave EA money .. should be more illegal than giving my money to a hooker .. but /we
LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already
A million times this ^^^
I am one of the die-hard fans, that has been looking forward to 1.2 for the much needed improvements. And this announcement of no ranked warzones, HOURS before the servers are brought down for the patch, is a massive kick in the nuts by Bioware.
I am amazed at how impatient people are. "I can't have what I want when I want it so I'm going to rant and rave and complain that everyone is wrong but me". So what if something comes out later than expected? If they'd rushed the product out you'd probably be complaining about how poorly implemented it was and how many problems there were. Play the game or don't but please shut up...
They wanted to sucker as many people into resubbing/retaining their subs as possible before dropping the bomb.
Well played Bioware.
Bioware is off the 2chainz.. lol The patch goes live tomorrow for you guys; hopefully it actually functions for you. Would you'll call it a bait-n-switcher-oo?
How long have the Ranked Warzone updates been in the patch notes? (Serious question)
PM before you report at least or you could just block.
Complete and utter disappoinment.
I am rank 72 valor on my main, and this was the main reason i was going to continue on playing. How will the new commendations work, are they still in game?
This. Classic example of bait and switch. Just like they way they hyped this sad excuse for a game.
But hey think of it this way, if they would of added them the game would of probally mass crashed as they more stuff they add, more likely it will crash.
Lets see tommorrow how much mass down time they have. Or how many hot fixes they gotta do to fix things they broke.
First and foremost, Bioware sucks balls with anything PVP. Second, warzone pvp is just flat out horrible, my opinion of course. If they would have just taken the SWG pre-cu model, they wouldn't have to be scrapping and delaying pvp at all. The game was made to railed and has no dynamic's that is really needed to have good solid pvp. Players from different factions are too seperated from one another, and if they had incorporated the system that SWG had, there would be no reason for warzone instanced pvp . Any time on any planet you could pvp if you changed your pvp status from covert to overt. You would think that since some of the devs like William Wallace that actually worked on SWG pre-cu would have atleast stood back and said, yea, pvp in that game was pretty good, we should try and do something like that.
So Bioware waited litterally hours before the patch went live to tell people so they could retain as many subs as possible?
Alright, at first I just didn't like the game, now this is just getting fucking unethical

2-3 years ago, Bioware was a twinkling diamond that was difficult to criticize because of the sheer scope and quality of the products they delivered. Now they always seem so seedy with the way they deal with backlash and criticism.
This particular removed feature being announced the day before the patch is honestly sickening. My brother was playing SWTOR in his spare time and this was the final straw for him as he was looking forward to having some actual competitive PvP in the game.
There were two features he kept telling me to come back for:
1. No more RANDOM PvP gear loot boxes. This actually did change which was good but still could not bring me back without real competition. My friends and I would just go in and win 25/27 matches and ultimately get crazy bored. (I literally got 1 legs, 1 ear and 7 trinkets out of somthing like 40 boxes by the way.)
2. Ranked Warzones were coming out in 1.2. I would not have personally come back anyway. But my brother's excitement about the game just got tanked hard and he has cancelled. Not that he might not start back up, but it was an extremely disappointing piece of news for him.
And really, it just fuels the fire for those that say Bioware has no clue what they are doing in the MMORPG genre. Which I personally agree with anyway.
of course it is the pvp content that gets taken out...
On 2nd thought, this is actually a really good thing.
After doing some research, you can still gear up to War Hero Gear starting tomorrow. That means when ranked warzones come out, there will be a more level playing field. This is what people who seriously PvP want, a pvp arena where gear is not the determinant on who wins.
This is much better than say WvWvW in guild Wars 2, where it will be whoever pays the most cash to get the most seige weapons or whoever has the biggest zerg.
So the sun still shines, and the only thing that is a question is exactly when will they be implementing the ranked warzones. They said theya re doing so in phases, meaning the first phase could be just a week or 2 away (first phase is 8 man teams only, no solo ranking).
I must condemn bioware for this move. Well played!

Huh, just couldn't get away from bashing GW2.
And your argument is that becasue you can grind up to a higher level of gear that will create an even bigger disparity in the gear gap between players entering PvP, it will be a more level playing field.
Good one.
Ranked Warzones are for 50s only fyi. And the extra time to allow those currently playing that do not have full BMg ear to catch up does indeed even the playing field.
I know you guys hate bioware becuase they raped your sister or something, but think with a level head eh trolls?
No, it only allows people that are 50 to grind out the best gear before they launch this thing. (Whenever that will be).
Everyone else that gets to 50 after the ranked PvP is realeased is not on an even playing field. They are at the same disadvantage they are now, except marginally worse because the stats have gone up. Your argument is terrible.
Bioware is terrible at PvP in SWTOR. It may be an opinion, but it's one of those opinions that is shared 10:1.
So they have abondoned Illum and anything remotely related to objective based world pvp , and now can't test nor make even boring, but at least ranked, small wz's work either ,
Exactly how long are PVP folks supposed to wait on a retail/launched/full sub based game to have and support PVP features
And where are those 100 vs 100 battles Bioware pushed in advertising SWTOR again ?
The problem isnt that they let down on a promise or anything. It is that Bioware/EA used fraudulent business practises by waiting until the last possible moment to draw in all the extra resubs before they told people oh yeah sorry that feature you decided to wait around and resubb for wont be available. Similar to how at release they said were gonna have all this in the game and then oops... nope not there.
My argument is set in reality. Those that have played since launch are 50. Those that should be on an even playing field will be when ranked comes out.
