No gear grind like SWTOR?

nomssnomss Member UncommonPosts: 1,468

I hear that gearing will be easy. I want to know if it'll be similar to SWTOR?

I don't think there will be much similarity from SWTOR to GW2. I least I hope not.

It will be easy to get the gear needed to be able to play all the game content, but it will be hard to get cool loking gear or a versatile wardobre.

Yes, and this thread seems to be an attempt at a sarcastic response to it.

    Not a particularly good attempt.

edit: sorry Wolv, bad quote, and bad wording on my part

Basically this, You can get equal powered gear anywhere wether its soloing, puzzling, dungeoning, dynamic events, or even World vs. World pvp....but to get the more unique looking gears - that is where it will get tough.

No, there is literally a forum over there talking about the gear grind, it just doesn't have the reference to SW:TOR, same thread, different wording.

Fuck the gear grind. So tired of that model and SO glad that GW2 has left that shit behind. I hope that GW2 is a massive success and that it ultimately leads to the end of the gear grind. People talking up Tera like it's something revolutionary while it's not. Same old tired quests, same rush to max level, and same gear grind. Same old crap in other words.

I'm sure you'll be able to buy new gear within 2 weeks from the cash shop.

the stats on the gear are setup to be less of an impact on the gameplay then the gear in early lotro. So gear grinding will be a thing of the past. The stats are nothing compared to the skill of the player and the abilities the player has aquired as well as the points the player has distributed to enhance some abilities and make others weaker.

So while there are blue quality items in every video, that just effects really the amount of punishment an item can take before being completely useless with their damage system from dying.

So this is what you mean when you say "the stats on the gear are setup to be less of an impact on the gameplay..."?

You'll still be after mutiple sets of gear runed differently, it just won't be a requirement to do any content.

Top-level gear, probably.  But here again, it's not like top-level gear is made to be all that difficult to obtain, so it's effectively more like cosmetics.

I imagine the only reason it would even be top-level is so that people don't have to buy both transmuation stones + armor in order to get the appearance and stats they want.

On the other hand, gear is also limited by level, so perhaps a transmutation stone would be necessary in any case?  I suppose ArenaNet might then just make all cash-shop gear have level 1 stats just to keep people from crying "P2W" so much.

Good point, the transmutation stone kinda break the P2W aspect of buying armor, would be a great idea for ANet to do that with the stats, keep everything lvl 1.

Don't be misinformed, there will be no gear sold on the cash shop, low or high level. Only cosmetic gear that has no effect on your stats would be in the cash shop, for example you're level 20 with level 20 pve gear, you buy a cosmetic item for the shop. Now your gear looks different but your stats will be the same.

Remember... all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.

I think you're misinformed. I caught a glimpse at the cash shop. They're selling gear in there.

The number of people who have played both SWTOR and GW2 to end game are as many as the replies you've gotten.
