OMG no gear grind QQ get skill srly

gihmastergihmaster Member Posts: 2

Why are so many people angry because everyone has like "the same stats" in the endgame and there is no gear grind?

Why was GW1 fun?->because its fun and skill-based!

It u like to kill everyone in PvP because u have imba 24/7 raid equip go play WoW, Rift or another equip based MMORPG....there are a lot out there, but pls don't cry about this basic system in GW2.

If u don't want to do skill-based dungeons to get for example good looking gear 4 fun, then don't play it.

If u don't want to play a MMORPG that has skill based endgame PvP then simply don't play it...pls!

TY

Have you ever met anyone who would only wear Nike brand sneakers or ever heard people make fun of someone's sneakers because they weren't Nike?

Because the typical MMO endgame is a long process of grinding gear so you can have better stats then others, and Gw2 is a process of constantly becoming a better player. Though yelling at them won't help

    You tell em!

If you don't want to buy your gear, go play something else!

If you can't afford to win, GTFO and get a job!

    Another thread on this?

Couldn't you have used this special moment of your very first post on mmorpg.com for something more memorable? First posts should be special occasions which you and your repliers should remember the rest of your lives.

However, first posts are often awkward though, so you got that bit right. Once day you will think back and shake your head, reminiscing the inexperience you had at posting back then. And that's fine.

One of the draws of MMOs is that everyone starts with the same opportunity. And you get out what you put in.

While GW2 does offer this (get out what you put in) to a degree, it levels off quickly for everyone. I believe it's going to have a bigger impact down the road.

We will start to see the flipside arguemts surfacing where people are complaining because they bust their @$$ in the game and have little to show for it.

This are the kind of people who like this gear-grind and this people don't have to play GW2. Noone is forced to play it so just let it be....

They should just make a stickie for this. Think it is bad now? Can't wait until the game actually launches. there will be tons of the Op's rant and threads the OP is ranting about related to this subject.

While we're at it should make one for the cash shop too.

...or at least when they finally lift the NDA for the info that is already leaked anyways.

    >_>

    <_<

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

The end game being more than just a gear grind is one reason I will be playing the game.

I believe that MMOs whose end game is grinding gear over and over is already a fail at launch.

Well, no conclusions were reached in 2005, so we can assume they won't ever be.

I just wish the public's MMO memory wasn't so damned short.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

It's not that memory is short. Just look at when something goes wrong. No one ever forgets that.

It's that gamers have ADD and therefor we have no attentio.................."Oh, Shiny!"

Ick. That brought back some terrible middle school memories. Fitting, considering how many people around here act.

Maybe, but I suspect that you'll be able to tell the pimped out pros from the more casual players just by looking at their gear. Will the gear have amazing stats and say "heroic"? No. Might it be itemized slightly differently and have great visual appeal, I would say "yes" but we shall see.

    "Loading screens" are not "instances".
Your personal efforts to troll any game will not, in fact, impact the success or failure of said game.

No objections to stuff that looks different because it is hard to get, its just graphics  Bonus is he doesnt have +1million crit bonus over my lowly 'rusty suit of sacks' and I can still own him - let him earn his prestige with blood!

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

Played WOW for long enough to hate the whole gear grinding experience. the gear grind works for a monthly mmo because it keep's people coming back, the whole patch system has the same role.

I'll be looking forward to logging into a game to have fun again, instead of having to grind pots/flasks and gear just to be competitive.
