Who else is choosing Warrior?

baritone3kbaritone3k Member Posts: 223

I am enamored with the badassness of the giant Lance and active blocking of a Lancer, but the movement of the Warrior seems too awesome to not run with.

I see very few people saying they are going to choose Warrior over Berserker for DPS and Lancer for tanking.

Is anyone else going Warrior?

Someone please make a good MMO.

This new combat system is finally giving solid players a chance to show/find out that it is the player and not the gear and the stat prioritization.

    True enough :)

But I fear, because lot of clueless players will play it, the community will have a very low tolerance threshold for bad warrior as tanks. I bet most of the people will start to flame as soon as they'll be matched with a warrior tank by the LFG tool...

I will be playing a warrior.  I can't wait.  I loved the movement and the fluid combat.  I am ready!!! Hopefully I won't suck to bad.

Actually in the NA beta Warrior was the most popular class. Beserker was actually the least played DPS class.

To me for the moment it's only the warrior that appeals to me.

If it wasn't for the warrior I probably wouldn't even play the game. The other classes feel and look so dull.

The Mystic may be interesting as well though.

I hope I'm wrong and that it's just because I haven't spend time playing them!

as someone that played a healer in KTera i absolutely hated grouping with a warrior for instances. it's like they try on purpouse to dodge your heals.

I loved the warriror, but my main will be an archer.  I like the archer style of still being ranged while up close and personal.

That was my intention a while ago. But my spirits were beaten down by people I came across in-game. It's like they collectively agreed to give warriors a hard time.

The run is going well but the minute...nay, the second anything doesn't go smoothly due to a bad pull by e.g. an archer then they take that very small window of opportunity to lay it on thick. "SEE! That's why I said warrior is not a tank. Blablabla." Even though everyone was proactive, reactive and no-one died and I managed to get aggro as soon as possible and as much as possible.

It's disheartening to me, having to defend myself at every turn or having to "prove" myself because of stigmas (and the majority rolling warrior...). And no, I don't have that kind of thick skin but I'm getting there.

If I'm feeling adventureous I may give warrior another spin. I was a damn great tank, I was told.

Dont be fooled, it might be called a Warrior, but its actually a Rogue.

    It Dual Wields.

    It Wears Leather.

    And It Dodges.

Unfortunately, unlike other games, you wont have the Rogue Damage.

And I doubt any sane group will prefer a dodge tank over a mitigation tank... with more aggro generating abilities and more interrupts.

This is the second reply which mentios Warriors as being disproportionately high population.

I do not want to be part of the highest population class. That will make grouping rough. The stigma part can be overcome by the Instance Matching System (IMS) but the populaion won't.

Also - I am planning on being primarily dps as a Warrior. I know that jumping and juking makes dps placement and heal landing much more difficult than the stand an absorb style of the Lancer. As a tank, Lancer will be the easiest thing for people to wrap the mind around while also learning a new combat/healing style. And even once mastered is like the difference between hitting off of a T in T-ball and having to hit live pitches in real baseball. It will probably always be harder to heal/stay in the sweet spot as dps and stay out of damaging abilities with a more static tank. BUT that is of course mitigated by the extra damage and mobility of the Warrior so it may balance in 7/10 situations.

Regardless, I was planning on being DPS, but I do not want to be one of too many. I have faith in myself as being a really good Warrior, but I don't want to be fighting for a spot against every former Rogue/Fury Warrior/Whatever Else is Dual Wield Melee in the MMOsphere.

Hmmmm. Food for thought. Elin Warrior or Castanic Lancer just got harder too choose. If, indeed, Warrior is overpopulated.

I really enjoyed the active combat of the warrior. I normally play ranged  (red-headed archer chick, to be exact) in most MMOs, but I'm looking forward to the warrior in TERA.

Apparently, they have fixed the damage output and the DPS is solid. They added the "edge" system for that purpose.

True but unlike other games you can you can tank :)

As I said tanking as warrior is really hard, but it can keep aggro and interrupt as much as a lancer, even better aggro building and interrupt are on the same skill.

The lancer has dmg mitigation but what really makes it a tank is blocking if it doesn't block it gets lot of dmg like the warrior.

Anyway as i said lot of bad players will flock to it since they'll think they can prove to be skilled by playing it and the community will hate warriors...

I will be playing a Warrior for launch and I'm not sure if I've ever been so excited to play a class. They seemed to have made them a viable dps stand-in but also a very engaging tank.

I do feel for pickup groups because some people aren't going to get the mechanics at first. All I can say is try to have a little patience and Warriors please look at some taking guides on YouTube. There are some really good ones.

When healing a tank it seems your positioning will need to be perpendicular with the fight rather than behind with the dps. An effective Warrior will be moving left and right or dodging backward to run back up in order to keep the mob turned and still live. If healers are behind or even 135 angle you'll be cut off 1/2 the time when the Warrior needs to evade.

I cannot tell you how excited I am for tonight!

Just not worth my time anymore.

Yes, check the following statistics for the first five betas of NA TERA (EU TERA should be about the same, no?).

    @Himemiya ;:

Interesting info, never thought warrior was the most played one.

Some ppl pick class's on Betas that dont intend to play on lunch, but we will see next month anyway.

I'd expect warrior to be very popular? Dual Wielding is a favourite for a lot of people and for that reason alone I think a lot of people would choose it.

Edit: Just seen that stats img.. guess I should read previous posts first! But at least I was right :)
