I can only tell you guys what my wife thought when she saw me playing Tera. She simply asked me the reason why all females are dressed up as tramps. I simply told her that sex sells. Also she was shocked to see elin race.

It's not making anyone "rage" it's just a contributing factor to why some people are not going to buy/play the game, therefore people are discussing it. I don't think anyone has problem with skin being shown, its more the overly silly way its being portrayed.

I guess people had issues with Wonder Woman back in the day too?

I find it distasteful because they are clearly abusing the fact that male teenagers are extremely dependant on their hormones. It is like taking candy from a child, literally, without actually selling the game on its own merits.

Edit: In other words: the intent matters.

The Elin are immortal and was given that look to them by their goddess as a gift and most of them in the game are over 500 years old.

As for the armour you people take it to far as BioWare said about ME3 its art just leave it at that. If you think its porn you got serious problems.

Developing "lore" does not exactly justify the overt sexualization of children, women, and even men. Given your statement, you could put almost anything in a video game and as long as you call it "art" and say hey, here's some backstory explaining why they're dressed the way they are and it would be OK.

Blaming people because they see the depiction of female "child-like" characters in provocative clothing as inappropriate is confusing to me. Would you draw the line anywhere or is it all a free-for-all on the internet?

    "Loading screens" are not "instances".
Your personal efforts to troll any game will not, in fact, impact the success or failure of said game.

Sure. Lets head off to battle in a corset...  Just plain ridiculous. I understand this is a fanstasy themed game but come on! Give me some hefty armor so that I have at least a visual semblance of protection.

I wouldnt rage over this but merely roll my eyes.

For different reasons. One of them being that we have a much larger problem at hand and another being that muscle-bound dudes is a widespread male ideal while looking like a surgically modified hooker is not a widespread female ideal.

What are you talking about, both body types are ideals, both ideals created by both sexes. I don't know a single female that would describe a female ideal and not describe a Castanics body. You could say they are influenced by the males, but so are the male Castanic bodies, most males would think of boxer type bodies as ideals to each other, but Castanic bodies are what men want to impress women.

I find it disturbing that your mind instantly turns to sexual thoughts when you see Elins.

I never even thought such a thing until people started talking about it on these forums. I just thought they were another "cute small race" like Tarutaru from FFXI. Do you find Tarutaru sexual too?

Honestly they just look like faerie folk.

You took what he said and twisted it into something he clearly wasn't saying.

What I find strange about his opinion is that, now that he does see it and recognize it, he defends it.

LOOOL, that video is such blast, i'm still laughing.

Anyway you asked "So now I’m putting out the clarion call to developers: Give me male armor models with just their shiny parts covered" and Blu Hole listened since castanic males armors are as revealing as as their females coutnerpart.

Comic book characters have  always been silly and plagued by the same old nonsense like MMOS of fighting bad guys in under wears and half naked.

That's just it. What's silly about it? I honestly do not see the problem. Now, if we're talking about Kingdoms Under Fire 2 then I do not know where I stand...I think the devs were really going all the way just to push people's buttons. Knowing how people still react nowadays.

You missed the "hooker" part, which implies that is not only the body type that matters.

    LOL +1

On topic. When I was playing the Beta my wife saw the Female characters and thought they were kinda cool. She also understands that its a video game, made for adults, and set in a fantasy setting.

Yes because men want to walk around like chippendales...

also, they don't look like hookers, they look like dancers...it is all just your own perception.

I think this poster is weird, I mean she says Women are not for Decoration...well then they wouldn't be wearing anything.

Actually, I think that's a great example of a company that friggin' gets it. I don't care if everyone is 1/2 clad, just that EVERYONE is 1/2 clad. No double standard. Let's see those manly asses.

The difference is that walking around with bare upper-body is not as bad as looking as a female hooker. Now, if the males were walking around with clearly visible boxers or even male thongs, then ya, that would be bad. Looking at random google pictures, it appears as if most males got quite much cloths on them.

Couldn't agree MORE. Don't get me wrong. I like being fashionable in a game. I've been known to pvp in a ballgown. But I wouldn't go out of my way to pvp in a gstring. I wouldn't buy a gstring from a cash shop. I think they are stupid. I don't get why people findthis sexy in a game  to begin with. I've never lusted after a pixel guy maybe there is something seriously wrong with me. Maybe I'm broken and need a doctor, who knows?! They are pixels for the love of all the mmo gods and is it too much to ask to have the option to dress your pixels character in an outfit that needs something bigger then a matchbox to store it in? Guild Wars 1 yea that is pretty much my limit. :P

You may want to point out how the following armor is different from the one in Tera?

And while you are at it, you may want to explain also why some days ago i was reading a post where a lot of GW2 fans were giggling about the female norns, quoting, "big buttery boobs" and no one found this offensive.

As long as they leave options for nakedness I wouldn't mind options for more covering clothes, however mmo devs think in black or white a little too much.

I really have very little issue with the state of clothing or rather lack of clothing in Tera, or any game for that matter.

I live in Florida and have bikinis that show more skin than any video game ever has.

These are not the victorian ages, it is ok for women to show off thier bodies, and maybe even take some pride in what God, 5 days a week at the gym, and torturing ourselves with salad and flavored waters has given us.

Granted in Tera I did make a few comments to my guild that the higher level armor sets I got the less armor they actually had, and by level 60 I would be wearing dental floss and pasties.

I even made a comment that as long as the monsters poked me only in the nipple I was well protected but an inch left or right and it was all over for me.

However video games are FANTASY!!!!! , repeat FANTASY not just for men, but for women as well.

Women are vain, we like to look our best, Ill admit that I've even gone so far as to put on makeup to sit down at my computer for a gaming session with friends.

I mean sure the real real me is raggedy hair pulled back into a pony tail, an old pair of sweat pants, and one of my hubby's football jerseys., but hell even then I catch myself flipping my hair, and adding a little extra shimmy to my step.

What I always find sad about threads like this in every game is sure men will objectify us, but it is always a woman who tries to turn that objectification into a hurtful and insulting thing.
