So, you say "no offense" but then question my sanity We're different people, you and I. I already sub to multiple games - all I'm saying is that what I saw in the current Beta was not enough to add a fourth sub into the mix, nor was it enough for me to drop a sub I'm already enjoying. Why would I then bother to buy it if I have no intentions of playing ;P?

I was concerned this original post would be ignored or missed lol, I am not saying the OP shouldnt have his own opinion, but judging from his post history I dont think he even has figured out his own true opinion yet which makes arguing difficult since its erratic.
Oddly enough I would wager most of the game community trolls would have similar posting histories if someone were to do the research. Conversly if they express hatred for a game and they have a clear favorite or agenda they would be identified as "fanbois" which is just as bad since they push their opinions on others as fact and anything else is stupid. Both trolls and true fanbois are not very healthy for the gaming community.
IMO, again in my opinion, I think GW2, Rift, WoW, Warhammer Online and tons of others are good/fun in their own ways...I dont understand "fanbois" or "trolls" its the most petty thing to belittle video games or others opinions.
Remember video games are not gangs or some secret society you dont have to claim allegiance to it and kill outsiders (opinions) for honor lol.
TLDR:
Play all the games, regret nothing, and let others do the same.
I have probably wasted time with this trying to express how inane video game superiority arguments are, hence my low post count since I know even this post is inane :'(
I'm confused on some of these answers to the poll. Is this pre-orders or pre-purchases. Apparently people are not sure of the question because if you pre-ordered you didn't do the beta. The poll is probably not very reliable to begin with but surely is fubar now.
I just picked pre-order because I thought he intended to put pre-purchase.
Well then my edited question comes back up! I thought once you used your registration key you could not cancel. That was the last I had heard.
The people that say they are gonna cancel after this weekend either don't realize that they already paid for it and won't be getting a refund, or they know they already paid and think they'll be getting a refund. What do I think will happen? I actually think that Anet will refund these people because then you'll have less whiners in-game and on their forums, and you won't have people on forums screaming about how Anet screwed them and how they're gonna have a class action lawsuit bullshit etc, etc... If it were my company at least, that's what I'd do.
Most likely though, they won't get a refund, and they'll call up their bank to dispute the charges, and get shot down, and then they'll play the game anyways for years.
It would also just be good pr. "hey look we have enough faith in our product that we will do something not usually done in computer games and give a refund." That shows confidence in your product.
I can't afford to be disappointed with my leisure purchases, so I focus on the things I like about a product and mind hack my way around what I perceive as flaws.
That way, I'm never disappointed. So, yeah, I pre-purchased GW2, and will enjoy it when it comes out.
I haven't preordered yet, I've seen plenty of things i like, but also a few I'm not a fan of.
Honestly think i'll just wait a bit after release before i make a decision over whether i want to buy this game or not.
My main concern is that it won't have $60 worth of PVE content. And if I wait too long so that the price to gameplay is in line, then there won't be the critical mass of players to do the little PVE events with. Still in the deciding phase, but there's plenty of time.
I managed 38 hours of PvE play over the weekend, which is already more play than I have gotten out of some RPGs, (and even MMOs), that I have paid full price for. I just barely scratched the surface of the PvE content available in game. If your fear is over the amount of PvE content for $60, you can put those concerns completely to rest.
You can not level just off of the Personal Story content, so you need to go out and explore the PvE world, do tasks and particiipate in Dyamic Events, but it's all great fun and the world is pretty phenominal. I spent at least 28 hours just in the Human level 1-15 zone, (I spent some time doing story content and spent some time with a friend in the Charr starting zone). The zones are massive and feel much bigger than the raw dimensions might suggest. I actually was still leveling around level 8 content at level 12 and skipped over some stuff in the rest of the zone at 15 so I could go check out the level 15-25 zone next door. (There are 26 PvE zones in the game of roughly the same size).
I rushed, due to the time constraints of the weekend event, but the game is very supportive of a more leisurely, immersive pace. I can easily see myself getting 300 hours of game play with a single character, with out running out of content.
Remember, also, that the game scales you down for lower level content, while awarding you XP and loot based on your true level. Alt-a-holics will have a field day with this game, but even a player who likes to invest entirely in a single character will have a massive amount of content to explore, with out ever having to worry about "outleveling it".
One thing I would note is that the branching of the personal story is very real. I had three Human characters, with different biography choices, and had no repeats in story content after the introduction. I'm sure there will be some overlap over the course of the full story, but I was impressed that the early story segments at least to level 10 where completely different.
Each race has it's own story and it seems each race has at least three major branches, (it might be nine, or more, but I experienced three), so there are at least fifteen distinctive starting story lines. People who do like to play alts will have incredible replayability with this game.
I will eventually play WvW and PvP, on top of PvE, but I really think I could play this game twenty hours a week for a year and not run out of PvE content! Make's the amount of play I got out of Skyrim seem pretty pathetic, even though I originally thought that game provided me with great value for my purchase.

Well I know I am keeping my pre purchase. Really people that pre order didn't get to play so they really can't make a determination for themselves yet, only videos and opinions and like I showed earlier opinions are "really" varied. This thread reminds me of the dynamic event system in the way this thread was affected. Yes you actions can change the world of Tyria thru pwnage ; ) and yes I am keeping my pre purchase.
If they keep the game as is I will play for a long time. If they do what most MMOs do during the betas and make it easy mode it will go down like all other MMOs for the last 10yrs.
Pre-orders didn't get to play, Pre-purchases did. Pre-purchases aren't cancelable, no refunds, unless you deny the credit card purchase (illegal) or take the game back to the store if you got the box (stupid, since you'd get pennies for every dollar you paid, and you'd be better off just keeping it instead of letting the store make 2x its money). So, thread doesn't make sense.

FWIW, several people stated whom bought it at Gamestop, the pre-purchase one even, were still able to get refunds. This happens with every game, people say you cannot. There are littlerly a thousand outlets with human transactions, anything is possible. There was a guy who got his refund yesterday and was still able to log, because Anet probably didn't plan on Gamestop doing this etc.
Again if you have to, god bless. Get back what you need, state your piece and we'll catch you later on somewhere else.
Im definately keeping my prepurchase. I wish the game was released already, had a blast playing it. The warrior with a rifle had like a sniper shot with a loud BANG! it was so cool. But I liked the bow better. Also, I love how you can customize your dyes. Everything in the beta is what I wanted and more.

I didn't say you couldn't get a refund if you bought the physical copy from Gamestop. In fact, I specifically stated "unless you...or take the game back to the store if you got the box" What I said was that would be foolish, because you get back pennies on the dollar for what you spent, and are only feeding the store more money, as they can now resell the game.
By the way, each copy of the game comes with a CD key, as computer games do, so when that copy gets resold and that person e-mails Anet that they can't play the game they just bought, what do you think is going to happen to the person who WAS using the account? Wrongfully, by the way. Why would you play something, anything, knowing all that effort and all you put into your characters could be taken and give to someone else? That seems short-sighted, to me. If you REALLY don't like the game, you'd be far better off e-baying.

I won't cancel anything. I did get alittle disapointed, but I still wanna give the game a shot. But until its released I will enjoy the f*ck outa TERA that has turned out to be really awesome. So GW2 can take the time it needs to fix shit. I got my time til release covered.
Already canceled, played the beta. HUGE DISSAPPOINTEMNT. Dull and stail just like the rest of the MMO's made these days.
So you played the beta even though you had previously made this statement:
"Yeah and GW2 is still going to be carebear to the max. I'll play SWTOR before ever playing this craphole game with its carebear instance box pvp system. At least in SWTOR I can PvP without jumping into instance battlegrounds."
I am so confused. Between the 19th and the 30th did you manage to buy and play SWTOR and then decide to give that up so you could prepurchase GW2 so you could play in the beta weekend?
im keeping it. I am not insane and did not expect teh first beta weekend to go smoothly. When i did get to play i had a BALST. for me at least GW2 has lived up to the hype.
Playing: PO, EVE Waiting for: WoD Favourite MMOs: VG, EVE, FE and DDO Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.
yes I am canceling Swtor and Tera and TSW, wait never mind I dont even play those carebear games.
I'm with ya on the 1st two. I might play a bit of Tera though prob till D3 comes out, as i'm subbbed till the end of the month...TSW on the other hand, is way up on my high hopes meter....def hangin for it
As for GW2, thats the no brainer of the year....prob in the top 3 MMOs of all time i thoroughly enjoy, and at this point its free!
loved GW1 and now i love even more GW2,wont cancel, i think i am gonna cancel SWTOR though ;P dont get me wrong i love open world pvp but nowdays there is none...even if the game offers it everyone is playing BGs for eq e.t.c so in the end whats the differense between BG and instanced pvp?...none maybe

I'm not gonna bother with all this GW2 negativety quite simply this is one of the best Mo's nay games i've played on the PC, and considering my first online game was Realm Online that is quite a statement and why do people not expect that a stress test Beta will not have problems A-net even state it's not optomised and with no NDA they must be pretty happy with it's progress. So if u do cancel just remember this is still a game in development like every other Mo and with A-net trying something out of the norm i'm happy to finance their endevour as at least we get to veer away from the normal crap that we have to endure these days.
I have no clue why, but I read your post in the voice of Randy "Macho Man" Savage (RIP).

Awesome game already had a prepurchase before the beta and bought 2 more copies after the beta.

I convinced my friend to cancel his preorder though.
You know there is no sub, right?

I haven't been really following Tera but its sounds like it has a really standard and un-imaginative questing/mission system.
Even if it has really good combat I just don't think I can do that anymore. I just can't. Otherwise I would probably be playing Dragon's Nest.
