Exactly what hardware do you already have that you're looking to upgrade?
its for a friend, he has Q6600 or something, he recently bought a good PSU(cant remember the name he told me but I googled it and its a good one), a 560TI, and has 8gb of DDR3 ram ready to go. Case is some big coolermaster can't remember exactly what name
Its just the processor and mb that is holding him back, and what he is looking to replace.
He can also pick up from the ocers physical store, so no shipping fee's
That's an older Z68 motherboard, which is meant for Sandy Bridge, not Ivy Bridge. It's backward compatible, so an Ivy Bridge processor in there should mostly work, but might disable some features. It certainly loses PCI Express 3.0 compatibility, and I'm not sure what else.

This what i have and ok for reasonable overclock while price is not extreme.
That's way over the budget. The processor is also obsolete, in the sense that it makes no sense to buy it new.
Well price is not realy my concern but what you mean with cpu is obsolete?
If price isn't your concern, then why are you replying to a "what can I get on this budget?" thread?
It's a previous generation product, not the current generation. If you have an old Sandy Bridge processor, then there's no need to rush out and replace it. But it's not what you want to buy new today.

Wow as if i somehow attacking you? If i was in anyway to him OP or you rude or something?... son't think so hehe, just wanne help giving some adivice hardware section master(boss) chill out man:P
Even when your in some degree right about old(lol)sandybridge cpu its still for next 2 to 3 years OK for any game thats on or come to market lol.
Hope to build full AMD system RYZEN/VEGA/AM4!!!

There aren't any ezcool power supplies at all that are 80 PLUS certified, so it's probably junk. The specs show a ton of amperage on the +3.3 V and +5 V rails, so it's probably a relic of another era, and not even a modern design.

what psu would you suggest, can go separate from the other parts budget wise, don't think it needs more than 600w

Depending on what you're willing to pay, either of these are nice:

Are you planning on OCing at all?
CPU wise is easy most people will point you in the direction of the i5 2500k (Sandy bridge) or the ivy bridge equivelent i5 3570k
Again depending on if you want to OC or not will depend on the mobo and heat sink.

Here's what you asked for:

Your friend will probably need a new OS license, too.
And most people who have a bad power supply think they have a good one, so I'm leery of "I don't know what I have, but it's good".
ill ask him when I catch him on vent.
what is the diff from that motherboard to this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-493-AS

also, will the cooler fit Cooler Master CM 690 I case?
