Almost done

Lord.BachusLord.Bachus Member RarePosts: 9,686

Almost done, yet so much work to do.. With Arenanet listening to people all around the globe and improving the game even more, its obvious to me that  this game wil not release pre summer 2012.

Not a big problem, and Arenanet can afford it with all the money they made from the pre purchases, there is no reason to rush. Pre-purchasing was an excellent idea, because in Arenanet we can trust. Have they told how many copies they pre-sold?  If they only sold as few as 200k Digital copies,  it will have made them well over 10M, which is enough to pay the bills.

With this attitude, GW2 might be up to sell WoW numbers of copies. Its a game aimed at a huge group of gamers, it has a lot of refreshing game feutures and Arenanet has the dedication to make it as good as possible.

Yes, its allmost done, but it will probably not release before early 4th quarter 2012, just in time to get enough possitive player attention to make a huge christmass sale on top of the initial sales.

from what i saw on beta if the high lvl zones and sylvary/asura zones are good like where the zones i try on BW, i believe game can be released end June begining July.

game dont have major bugs, if you see offical forum most i about suggestion not about important bugs. i think the thing will take most time is to improve the game to use GPU eficiently. bugs they can easy correct them, i even saw a bug on Norn Story be fixed during beta, and we all see that lag problems was so much improve in few hours

Yeah end of June. 3 more BWE's. After optimization and stability gets worked out they patch the rest as they go.

I'm a unique and beautiful snowflake.

No earlier then late June, more likely August or September.

But i think we will be able to judge it more correctly after the next BWE, seeing what they changed, what stayed the same etc.

I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high
And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll
Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde
And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore

I think the end of June for release. MMO's can always add content or change existing content.  The game looked polished with the last beta.

It would be nice to see the other two races ingame, which, I hope will come with the next beta.

The Game most likely is almost done, but then again we have only played 6 zones out of 25. 1 dungeon out of 8. 25% of the personal story and 2 pvp maps out of how many? There could still be tons of work to do.

  • RamanadjinnRamanadjinn Member UncommonPosts: 1,365

i still maintain release will be some time between this May 15th and Dec 2013.

not 25% of the personal story.

I heared that atleast half the personal story is at max level.

Well, I trust the closed beta testers...seems like they have done a really good job of getting the zones ironed out that us BWE testers got to play so i have faith the other zones will be just as smooth as those.  And yes, closed beta testers have access to everything whereas the BWE testers did not.  A friend in the closed beta and during the BWE she didn't even have the same servers in the server list as we did....and she LOVES the Sylvaria and Asura areas...says we are in for a nice surprise

The operative word being "could."  I've actually never tested game in beta that opened up all of its content before release.  Even up to the final day of open beta, the day before official release, games still have full zones, dungeons, raids, and pvp areas locked.  None of that is necessarily an indication of how far along the game is.  We do also know that the Sylvari and Asura areas have been tested by others, just not during the prepurchase BWEs.

So these areas should already have content in them. Maybe just a little polish on what is there already.  Next beta will allow us to test these areas hopefully.

Yeah, that could very well be true. In the beta there generally was a couple of levels between each step of the story, so you had to run off and level up a bit to continue, since most of the time the mobs weren't that easy. So I hope the story is more frequent at higher levels.

Maybe, but my guess is august. I think Q4 is a bit far away, when some areas seems more or less ready for release it usually means that the others at least are ready for bug testing. There will most likely be a few more betas before launch.

If the game would be released in may or early june we would have heard about it since that would have meant it have gone gold now, it usually takes a month to print up all physical copies.

¨refreshing game feutures¨. Can you make me a list?, from what i saw, and is not just me probably everyone who have played warhammer, daoc and rift, there is nothing new or ¨refreshing¨ in gw2, and if they dont fix the performance issues by the next beta, be ready for a september-december release.

The earliest is the end of July.

MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit.

Wouldn't August be an... odd... time to release a game though? It's possible of course, and if they simply go by "when it's ready" then any and all "standard" conventions are out the window. Not being sub driven could also mean an August release is possible with September and October sales still being quite strong.

Still... feels like late June, maybe late July. We know that assorted press have already played the Asura and Sylvari, that everything is in place and being tweaked (they've said so)... just a feeling.

The problem Ncsoft & Arenanet are facing now is that they have customers not just potential customers and the longer they leave it the more restless those customers will get and start shouting RELEASE THE FECKING THING NOW so my guess as with others is it'll be sooner rather than later bugs or no bugs. Get ready for the rollacoaster rides guys its going to be fun to watch and read image

You know, people put that argument forward all the time...   But it's kind of dumb.   Just because someone had a concept, doesn't mean that great of a job in executing it.   So, let me take it away from games to make an analogy...

There are only so many notes and chords one can use in a song.  Only so many instruments are available for use.  Only so many words in the English language with which to write lyrics.     And yet we get thousands of new songs, most of which are failures, every year.

And that's because some people try and they're able to write incredible music.   At least with some of their pieces.  Other people try and they can't, no matter how long they try.   Having been a CPA with a strong practice in the music industry, I found that (by far) most can't.    That's why they have day jobs.

The biggest one for me is the open-world dynamic events. Warhammer and Rift had some events that were dynamic, but they were localized and you still had the traditional linear quest hubs. You truly never need to look for a group to play with in GW2 as you'll get credit as long as you participate. Not once during the BWE did I ever feel like someone was impeding my progress, no I impeding them. That is a feature that I've never experienced in an MMO. There were always moments when someone "stole my kill", etc.

You will never see any " group looking for tank/healer/dps" in chat as there are none of the predefined archetypes in GW2. That feature alone will save us hours of trying to form a decent dungeon group.

The quick-travel system is the best I've ever seen. Most MMOs, you are bound to one point that you can recall to every 30-60 minutes. In GW2, you can teleport to anywhere you've unlocked for a small fee. You can get to anywhere in seconds.

So, those are three. There are others, but I just woke up. Brain no workie until my tea is ready. :P
