I'll just play guild wars 2, it cost the same as diablo doesn't have a monthly fee like diablo but it will receive major content updates. if diablo 3 is on a mmo site then its justified to compare it on mmo terms, afterall you can't play it offline.
since when does Diablo have a monthly fee?
I dont' think he meant that. I suppose it could be taken either way. Doesn't have a montly fee "like Diablo" I think was meant as "the same as Diablo". . not "like Diablo does".
He is saying since they are both the same cost etc. he might as well take the one that is an MMO and will have content updates etc.. even though these will mostly come through paid expansions and the money made from the cash shop etc.

You GW2 fans are getting hilarious, usually you guys are limited to bashing MMOS but i see you are branching out of the genre now.

GW2 fanbois are spitting poison in every direction. Kind of disgusting already how much hate can a certain game community generate.

see post above.
I saw your post and you are trying to defend something which is crystal clear. It costs same as diablo and doesn't have monthly fee like diablo... ? sorry bud but you are defending a lost argument here. There is no hidden meaning in what he said nor he was misunderstood or taken out of context.

And you'll have to pay extra for GW2's "major content updates", just like for Diablo 3's expansions. Same thing, really.

To be fair the GW2 devs have promised to add content not only in expansions. Like more dinamic events in lower lvl areas and things like that while diablo devs have said they wont.
I do think though that comparing Gw2 and Diablo in any way is retarted, saying apples and oranges here is an understatement.
Was anyone really expecting any? PVP maybe, but we dont pay a monthly fee so there isn't any motivation to pump out new content all the time
There are two expansions slated for this game. That would be your new content. This is not an MMO where they bring in changes to the server every week or add in some backstory from some group of NPC's..
Not how it works in Diablo, so 'No' in that sense there won't be content updates / patches, but there are expansions planned and if you knew Diablo 2 those can sometimes be better than the first part installation of the game.
PM before you report at least or you could just block.

there will be a pvp update in the future. But i would expect more content to come out via and expansion just like all the other diablo's before this one
They rarely add content to WoW. Why would they add content to D3?
Well cause D3 has less, and I would think they have some sort of toolkit that would make it substantially easier than with a 3rd person mmo. Maybe that last part isnt' the case, but I would settle for a new dungeon or area once a month.
I think they'd be smart to do so, because why else would people buy gear for real money except to possibly keep up with some sort of progression treadmill and if you've done everything there is to do (most people aren't going to care about inferno and prob not even hell difficulties), then why buy anything? You'd never use it anyhow.
Jay Wilson said pre-launch that they'd patch in PvP, and very likely that third crafting person that was taken out.
So if they do that, and keep adding new items like they said, and possibly throw in an expansion down the road, I'll be good to go.
It would be nice if they added more random events into the mix later on, but that's all I ever expected if they decided to add things (aside from what I already said.)
I do agree they need to start adding something to the game on a regular basis. I'd expect them to constantly add new items drops though. With no bind on equip then the amount they make on the RMT will get lower and lower as the market gets saturated. By adding newer and better items at a constant rate they would ensure regular income from RMT. So it's in their, Blizzards, best interest to keep content coming in one way or another. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw certain things become bindable to accounts once they have been equipped for the first time though.
Why? You can craft, and everything you craft has random stats.
The only things I've encountered that bound to my account were a few things that I don't even know what to do with. A piece of bone and a mushroom? They're bound to my account, and I haven't a clue wtf I'm supposed to do with them.
If anything they could add some new recipes if they release an xpac that increased the level cap to keep up. As the game stand they don't need to add anything because it's not an MMO and there is no endgame gear progression. Just change your difficulty level if you want to further gear progression. Only a small percentage of people are going to actually progress the entire way through inferno difficulty to get the best drops in the game to sell.
The only thing they need to do is make sure that the hardest difficulty isn't easy enough for the magority of people to actually beat. If they find that it's being completed by a high number of players then they'll need to tone it up to limit the amount of drops that are got and put on the AH. The difficulty level is supposed to be the counter to saturation.
They need to patch in guild functionality in addition to PVP. Blizzard is slow with expansions and so if the RMAH stumbles they may come up with some gimmicks to try and help.
They've planned two expansions as I understand it. I always though Diablo 2 could have used an extra expansion, so I'm glad we're getting two this time.

GW2 fanbois are spitting poison in every direction. Kind of disgusting already how much hate can a certain game community generate.
And here you go, judging a whole community, because of the actions of a few.
Be right back, I need to "spit poison" in multiple directions.
That said, I'm not suprised that there won't be major content updates ofr Diablo 3. I've no doubt that there will be an expansion at some point, but no new zones all the time, like we see in MMO's. Nor those this games really needs it though.
If it means less piracy and cheating I'm all game for occasionally loosing access due to maintenance or a network hicup.
More on the topic, this is a multiplayer co-op rpg, so not sure why people expect new content for D3. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice but looking at some standards on the market it would be unrealistic to expect. If anything it will come in form of number 4.
p.s. I swear internet is magnet for egoistic, dumb and naive people.
I would pay a subscription price for a D3 "MMORPG" that operated exactly the same as D3 currently does but offered ongoing content additions, items, and functionality each 1-3 months. I don't know that it would warrant $14.99, but $9.99 sounds reasonable.
Meh this is why I wanetd offline single player with mod support, players and the modding community could add alot of new content. The game as it is.. is pretty lackluster, Torchlight and Terraria are more intersting to me. Lots of class balance issues and such, but then again what did you expect when all that got beta tested really was 33% of act 1. Personally I think the beta for D3 with its limited content was setup so that people wouldn't relize how shallow the game actually is. GG on that one Blizzard, its too bad I bought a boxed copy, because if I got it from blizz i could get a refund.
Oh well Torchlight 2 is gonna be what diablo 3 should have been, so I'll stick with that when it comes out, and for now i'll just mess around in d3. I only can play D3 for like an hour before the game starts putting me to sleep with how shallow and repetive it is. I really dislike having 0 real choices about my chars progression and such.
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

I think that content updates will depend on the success of the Real Money Auction House. If Blizzard makes steady income from the RMAH, then we should see plenty of content updates to keep the money rolling in.

That doesn't surprise me. However, I remember them saying that their plan was to release two expansions for the game which is great.
I would also love some DLCs!

An expansion pack in a years time for £20 would be awsome! Then another! then another!

D2 got patched pretty often with a lot of new kickass content and major game changes.
