What would you say is the Greatest Video Game series of all time?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately the list only go up to 10: Some I feel should be mentioned but didn't fit.
Might and Magic
Fallout
Sierra "Quest" series
Battlefield
Grand theft Auto (This was the toughest, I considered taking Zelda off for this one)
Star Wars Tie fighter/ X Wing
World of Warcraft
Civilization
Age of ...
Leisure suit Larry
Diablo
Star craft
Wing Commander
----------------------------------------------------------------
As you can see; I think we need a bigger boat!
Comments
Mass Effect for me personally.
Good one, forgot Dragon Age as well.
I would definately have to throw in my lot with Fallout.
Warcraft
Diablo
There are so many good ones, I have also spent many hours of my life playing through Resident Evil. Great series.
I would have to go with the Ultima series for the impact it had on early pc gaming with its first 9 single player installments, the impact it had on mmos and the sandbox model with ultima Online, and the raw number of hours I've put into each of them.
Honorable mention to the Final Fantasy series for some of the same reasons.
I will admit I am partial to the older series of titles not just because I grew up with them but because of the role they have played in defining so many of todays games. Most everything today seems like just a derivative of what came out in the 80's and 90's.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
Street Fighter
Marvel vs Capcom
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?
Zelda first, with TES (excluding online) in at second tied with Quake.
Good one: As for myself I played more Mortal combat, but good choices.
Warcraft
Final Fantasy
From the list, Doom/Quake, since basically id invented FPS as we know it.
But as greatest series, I'd say Baldur's Gate.
Civilization
what of the classics?
Mario series/franchise
Sim City series
Civilization series
Castle Wolfenstein (the greatest old school FPS of all time!)
Fallout
Mario is on the Poll, The other ones are good choices, I like them; as for Castle Wolfenstein I put Quake/Doom on the Poll but I understand why you might feel that Wolfenstein should be up there since it came first.
I picked Final Fantasy, even though FFX-2, FFXII and FFXIII and it's sequel were the worst, the previous 10 gave me great memories and were the brunt of my early gaming years. Even FFXI was one of my favorite MMOs and basically my second one after SWG.
Castlevania
Ico / Shadow of the Colossus
Street Fighter
My theme song.
Championship Managers
Half-Life / mods
Roguelikes
Elites / F.O.F.T
SSI Gold Boxes
Let's internet
Darkfall - Sick
Earthrise - Sick
Monkey Island
Civilization
Warcraft
Elder Scrolls
I have to agree with Street Fighter. In particular Street Fighter II (in the old arcades). In my neck of the woods at the time, this game was a phenomenon unequaled by any game. You were known in different neighbourhoods by your character choice and how you handled him/her. Your reputation meant something. It really was PVP in it's purest and in your face form.
Damn, I miss that.
Blanka forever!
"Mr. Rothstein, your people never will understand... the way it works out here. You're all just our guests. But you act like you're at home. Let me tell you something, partner. You ain't home. But that's where we're gonna send you if it harelips the governor." - Pat Webb
Oh oh Soul Calibur series as well. Mainly 2 and 5
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?
X-Wing vs Tie Fighter
Warcraft - blizzard
Deltaforce - Novalogic
