Exactly. We all (I think) like the idea of a sandbox game here. However, this particular one will have some certain features which not everyone will like. Maybe most people won't like them. BUT, there are other features which most people do want, that they can't wait for. So they just wish they could change those few features they don't like to make what they believe will be the best game for them.
My point is that it's already been done. There are tons of griefer sandboxes out there. Would be nice if someone made a normal game for a change.

Well, they have vets from such sandboxes in their ranks, so they know how mindless FFA PvP can ruin a good thing. At least they are aware of the issue and taking steps to avoid it. How exaclty remains to be seen, of course.

I really don't mean to sound argumentative here, but which games are you referring to when you say "There are tons of griefer sandboxes out there"?
I personally am only aware of a small handful of open pvp full loot sandbox style games (which is what I am assuming you are referring to as griefer sandboxes), and of those, I can really only think of one that is going strong currently. Meanwhile there are, quite literally, dozens if not hundreds of themepark style games that are more focused on co-op play and just offer open pvp as an after thought on separate shards.
I'm not trying to put down anyones preference of games, as I personally feel everyone should be able to play what they want, but I don't see the "it's already been done" as a valid reason to claim that we shouldn't be working on EoC as an open pvp game. It's certainly been attempted, but for the most part, a majority of the player community (from what I have personally seen) that wants this type of game feels that those attempts have fallen short. That's where EoC comes in.
We didn't just dream up this plan over night and assume that players would love it. Instead we were some of the players that were in the communities of games that we all collectively felt fell short on their intentions and promises. Some of us spent years following games, only to be disapointed and led on with promises that never came true.
We completely and totally understand that not every player enjoys the kind of game we're making, and we don't expect everyone to change their minds. However we also understand that it is quite literally impossible to make a game that every single person in the world is going to love. You simply can not appease everyone, and we beleive many games have tried and that only resulted in a watered down, unfocused, and generally poor gaming experience that no type of gamer truly enjoyed. I personally feel that is where the dogma comes from in regards to these types of games.
That all said, I really do feel the pain, and understand where you are coming from when you, and other people, say that there just isn't a game out there that fits what is the perfect mmo in your mind. I've felt that way for a long time. At this time though, Forsaken Studios is dedicated to the vision and the goals that we have set for EoC from the very beginning, and we can't stray from those goals in an attempt to fill multiple niches, or EoC will just end up like another one of 'those games' that everyone cites are a failed project.
I will say, though, that I have full intentions of one day assisting other indie developers if I have the ability. So if FS is successful on our current project you can expect us to get behind some other indie games that aim to change the genre by offering the types of games that just aren't available today. (See our pledge to 'kick it forward' on our kickstarter page for example.) So while we might not be currently working on a game that you or others want, such as a massive pve and co-op focused sandbox for example, we're certainly behind the idea of bringing sandboxes in general to the forefront of the industry.
