SWTOR server transfers start today

PsYcHoGBRPsYcHoGBR Member UncommonPosts: 482

Just poped onto SWTOR forums and loads of posts being locked ^^ only 4 NA servers available for transfer and 6 Euro

http://www.swtor.com/transfer

Bioware did say though that it was starting today and more to come. The one thats causing alot of anger on the forums is to a heavy pop server.

Oh boy, maybe they should keep their forums turned off for a day or two.

That game has been going down the pipes since 1.2.

The game was going down the pipes when it was under development. Most people just did not see it.

Can't blame the community, they have been waiting for months to get off dead servers and they get 4 servers avilable today. Bioware need to earn a lot from Trion on how to run a MMO.

SWTOR is kind of a sad story.

But its pure logic. Bioware was sold to EA. And now its going down.

And SWTOR isnt the sign. Maybe Bioware would have screwed up SWTOR anyway.

DA:O was the sign, though. Removed multiplayer option, added console, added overpriced extra content, forced you to register to actually play the whole game you paid for, threw a second game after that was a bad joke and didnt even had a subtitle ...

    Ugh.

I suppose people would have been much more happy if BW had attempted to transfer 50 servers on the first go and if there had been issues it could have taken weeks for the transfers to complete otr all toons could have been lost.

So, yes, attempting to transfer 50 servers on the first go is possible with no issues.

stop being all gloomy and doomy.  Just because you didnt' like the game doesn't mean it flopped or "going down the tube".  Not all games you play, you will like.  I'm tired of people spouting out, like it's a fact, that swtor is a horrible game, the worst game ever made.  I like this game.  I do like star wars, and even if it wasn't star wars I would still like it.  I like the story, I like most of the pvp (huttball does suck hehe).  I love the bounty hunter (flame thrower ftw).  Just because you don't like a game doesn't mean it sucks...it means you don't like the game. /rant

They've been adding to the list of servers you can transfer from, it doesn't show on the generic page but the transfer page on the account one has expanded to about 20 servers so far.

I've just come to the conclusion that it doesn't matter if someone came out with the greatest mmo ever and had 1 billion subscribers, forums across the internet would still have people saying "this game is a flop!".  This is why the latest MMOs have all "flopped".  As I've always said, MMOs are 99% community, 1% development.  If you have players that are just disgruntled and mad about any little thing "Oh that pixel is out of place! This game bites!" then the game is a "flop".  I've been playing MMOs for over 20 years, before that I played MUDS and simulators.  There has been a steady progression by the community to reject anything and everything MMO.  If you don't like MMOs (which I think now is the majority), go back to your consoles, first persion shooters, and SRPGs!  We (the older MMO crowd) doesn't want you in our games, spamming general chat, and ruining our game experience.

Edit: There's nothing wrong with not liking MMOs.  Maybe you played a few and thought it was so cool just because it was a new experience.  Now that the newness has worn off, you hate them all...you don't have to play them.  I still believe that all MMOs are truly for a niche part of the gaming community, but developers are trying to make it mainstream.  Mainstream players like action, thrill, adrenaline rush, like you get from battlefield 3 or final fantasy.  Mainstream players don't want to sit at a computer for hours on end, chopping down a tree...MMO players do.  To borrow from reese's and MMORPG.com,  "You got your mainstream players in my MMO!"

don't forget, even from the very first day of WOW, there was tons of people saying that WOW was gonna fail. ITs still happening today, that WOW is gonna fail, this WOW is gonna fail or will be dead topic has been happening for years now.

When chinese gold farmers came out, WOW is gonna fail, when each new MMO that comes to the market, WOW is gonna fail. Regardless of whats happening, WOW will fail, its the same with each and every MMO, each and everyone will fail someday.

It might not be today, might not be tomorrow, but someday it will. Thats why we have doomsday prophecy. But what many forget is that when you are right, you will also be dead. So just play the mmo of your choosing, if you like it, keep playing, if you don't, don't play. Its your ability to choose that can't be taken away from you.

want me to link to some of the threads where users raised hell over the problems associated withe the Rift transfers ?

I am looking forward to server population increases myself but would rather that BW take their time and do it right so that populaltions are balanced, not just willy nilly as Trion did

How many of the Rift transfer problems were technical in nature? If the "problems" were caused by the players then they were quickly resolved because Trion allowed players to transfer for free every 7 days.
Meaning that any link you can provide of people complaining like its the end of the world was and is moot.

Does BioWare have the time to take their time? BioWare has been "taking their time" with every issue that has faced TOR and look how well that has worked out for them.
