Embers of Caerus is a “Medieval low-fantasy MMORPG” according to its Kickstarter page, where the game has already earned its $25,000 crowd-funding target and still has until June 19th to push expectations higher. It’s also a sandbox game, where players are motivated by open-world ambitions rather than simple fetch-quests. This is a great concept, and a much more appealing sounding MMORPG than most of the World of Warcraft imitators out there.
HAHA! Finally some recognition and quantification for Sandbox MMOs.

The game sound great! I would like to see how they are going to implement all that stuff into a game with a very low budget and still make it look good and polished in the process. I think if they can make everything work well as what was described on the Forbes page the game will have a nice chance to come out swinging. Looks like alot of stuff to get right though, its a huge bill they are setting themselves up for, now they need to make it all work. Holding a good community always seems to plague sandbox games, hope they can balance that out too.
Glad to see them going with "low fantasy" medieval I'am getting sick of the over fantasy cartoonish games that have been coming out.

Well, they will be working on an investor prototype now, so best case they won't actually be low budget any more. Worst case, (can't find an investor who will give them the freedom they need) they do have plans to continue as they are, but I'm guessing it will take longer, of course.

Yes, thanks for the information, about worn out on themeparks.
edit: out of topic
Yeah, I was pleased when I saw all the articles about them popping up recently.
The Forbes article is rather cool. Nice work, FS!
