I was suprised over the last weekend. How little people seemed to be playing dragon. Atleast in pvp. most the times the team was not full.
I made a dragon character on day 2 and noticed as soon as i queue to a BG. I got in instantly but it was always half complete bg where dragons losing.
I expected templar to be the less played side as they seem kinda boring comapred to the other 2 in my opinion. I was expecting dragon to be popular cos alot were playing with samurai swords.
Do you think the faction imbalance will be a big issue on release.
Comments
Likely there will be few servers as Funcom is known for, so no...I don't think it'll be that big of an issue. As far as wait times for the other factions--maybe.
* Good, honorable, gamers will continue to pay the bills so freeloaders can enjoy the game.
* Sandboxers and Carebears are 2 sides to the same coin.
I am playing a Dragon!
Funcom has done some pretty extensive polls and such to see if they got the 33% split they wanted, so I don't think it will be a big problem at launch.
Anyway, the open beta was pretty much Templar zerged since the two first weekends only had Templar as an option.
I think ill probally play dragon as well..
I played illum this weekend but dragons did seem to be the underdogs..
Themplars seemed to be the most popular but i guess everyone just carried on with their characters from the origional beta..
I think it is because it's beta and they will be playing dragon on release?
Many of the polls prior to the weekend beta events put dragon well in front of the other two factions, with templar being last. Of course beta experience could have changed some people's minds...
How come nobody wanted to play Dragon?
well as you maybe know or dont know ,templar come from old times same as illuminati but dragon basically is not well knowns or not really have a dramatic history as templar and illuminati
(in real life history)
Our guild also plans to play either Illuminati or Dragon, but since our highest characters at the beta weekends were templar (from the first two weekends), most were playing it through the pvp weekend again.
The polls at the official forums are quite good balanced and i think at headstart we will have a good ratio between the 3 factions.
Hodor!
Also chose Dragon, but haven't tried the pvp yet, the pve itself is pretty challenging, first time i've played a game where the 'questing' was more than just follow waypoints and kill x amount of things you find there.. google is incredibly useful! anything from linking artist to music to who painted what picture... well, have barely touched the surface but what i've seen so far is awesome..
I played Dragon but opted out in PVP cos I can't stand the animation and the combat gameplay.
FFS after 2 MMO, they still cannot get the combat right.
But solving quest was fun for me.
Pardon my English as it is not my 1st language
When I thought the different factions would feel different, I'd planned on Dragon. Different character creation options, different questing areas, faction specific gameplay that takes part in their home city, etc, etc.
Once I realized the factions looked and played exactly the same, and it was just a difference of cutscenes, with Dragon having the most irritating opening cutscene, that changed my mind.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
Was planing to play dragon but realized then too much religous blabla in the story done...changed to illu and iam happy with sex drugs and rock n roll :O
I like the idea of chaos theory and my "moment of clarity". Dragon appeal to me because they are the most matrix like I have found and it instantly turned on a light bulb for me. I love some philosphy and they had me at follow the butterflies aka follow the white rabbit!
Dragon are awesome just awesome.
I didn't like the Dragon "STFU and do as you're told" -attitude. Even their "introduction" is basically a kidnapping but of course the character is all like "ok I don't mind" about it.
Liked the Templars with their "it's your choice, but you're fucked anyway" approach.
That and the Asians talking only (accented) English kind of broke the immersion too. I know that Korean, Japanese and Chinese are all different languages, but I don't think they can reason all talking NPCs to be from a different country from each other.
If dragon would have been the blue team ... I woulda chosen them. I like blue. Happy Happyism.
It's what I love about this game, people making choice not on "whatever", but on them actually disliking the other factions. I tried out the Illuminati first and the raging paranoia made me laugh and start another character. Should create some good PvP opportunities.
I played Dragon and enjoyed it.
Who know's about at release, but based on beta one can certainly assume Dragons will be the underdog.
Templars were crazy over-pop, then illuminati and then dragons. I was surprised at the number of people playing templars. I guess people like the idea of being some moralistic ancient society?
Hrhr, nice one
Hodor!
well lets face it , when you have to choose from badass knight shoulder armor or splinter cell look-alikes , who wants to be the idiot in spandex?
I think the issue was more that people from the previous Betas could only play Templar, so there were loads more Templar playing this last weekend.
I chose Dragon and I had the same issue, not a lot to do during PVP but to be ganked over and over by a mob of Templars O-O

been playing dragon the last 2 betas and will be playing to at headstart.
I chose Dragon cus I like dragons and Japanese and my character looked cool for a Japanese guy xD
Yep, this was the main reason. Many just kept using their same character from when it was Templar only.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
I'm planning to be Dragon on launch, which is precisely why I didn't play Dragon in beta

Because there were 3 weekend's worth of beta players who could only play as a Templar and only 1 weekend's worth of people who were allowed to choose between Templar, Illuminati and Dragon.
