Let me just get this out of the way. I am in no way affiliated with Funcom.
I am a 36 year old dude that loves MMORPGs and have not been challenged or loved a game since Dark Age of Camelot and then FFXI. I was not going to even try TSW. I have been testing every game I could download lately and putting it down after an hour or so.
I read MMORPG.com nightly trying to find a game. Everything gets bashed.
I was bored. I had the money. I said why not and I haven't stopped playing since I purchased it. AMAZING and, more importently, FUN.
You should give it a try.

biggest gripe I've had is with the combat (and pricing model) but it grows on you. I don't mind it now that the other parts of the game has shown through I think. I definitely think it's worth a try although they chose the worst combination of a pricing model that I can think of.
hell no,
this game is just bad.
EDIT: maybe give it a try when it goes f2p at the end of the year.
I completely agree! One edit though...
If you aren't trying TSW and you're over the age of 17, I think you should. :P
This game is rated Mature for a reason. Cursing, blood and gore, drug use, or sexual innuendos everywhere XD
I'll buy it as soon as it goes Buy to Play.
My theme song.
You're asking people to try it out, but I don't see a free trial link on the website...?
it is already lol.
For $300 something you can try the game as much as you like. Cool clothing available via cash shop, expansions, mission packs, etc not included.
I ignore the F2P comments.
Seriously , look at every thread of any game that has come out in the last year. Everyone of them say I will play when it is F2P.
It is fun and complex and intelligent with tons to do. Maybe the pricing packages are bad but this type of pricing is what you are going to see from here on out.
Basically because of the F2P crowd. They have to make money up front. Most games that have come out in the last few months have done the same thing.
It is fun and worth it. I agree only adults should play.
TSW may be a great game, but I will not support a box sale + sub + cash shop business model.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
Played it for 10 minutes and uninstalled. Not my cup of tea.
I'll try it once it has a free trial and has had a few months to grow. Wasn't overly impressed with what I played in the beta, although I like the overall concept.
My Guild Wars 2 Vids
I would have picked it up if I hadn't blown 60 bucks on D3. What a mistake that was.
"I am not in a server with Gankers...THEY ARE IN A SERVER WITH ME!!!"
lol the intro movie is 8 minutes long
I'd love to try it, sounds fascinating, but I'll wait for a free trial. I'd like to see what my 60 bucks will be getting me.
The game should have been more of a single player action based game over a mmo. I don't think you should drag others into a game through the use of guarantees; that is no different than just using advertisements to entice children into buying candy, toys, or w/e it maybe. Do a decent review on why it's fun. I passed on this game and I gave it a very long review on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/So-glad-could-cancel-pre-order/forum/Fx25C9IROX17Y65/Tx2GBSV8CP4PYXW/1/ref=cm_cd_dp_ef_tft_tp?_encoding=UTF8&asin=B006ZPAXYW) and I don't plan on retyping it. I'm not saying that you're a bad person, but if you're one of those who got screwed into buying the lifetime with no refund on purchase, I think you should refrain from getting others screwed as well.
I'll try it when it drops its sub fee. I refuse to try it while it has box+sub+cash shop.
I was acutally pretty disappointed in TSW....i thought it would be alot better...The cutscenes and combat were real gamebreakers for me.....I dont think I'd even play it if it was f2p.
I totally agree. I don't mind a box fee and a monthly sub, but no way in hell will I also support a cash shop. In any case, the game will inevitably become free to play up to a certain level or change to F2P - so many games have already done this, and I doubt this one will be an exception - and I might give a try at that point. It might take 6 months, or it might take a year, but I'll wait, thanks.
Thanks, but no thanks. I don't trust the longevity or the company.

"Played" as in, be interacting with the game and...playing the game. Watching a movie isn't considered "playing".
Until I see something that convinces me that I can play in a group and have as much content as a solo player without having to go outside of the intended design by pulling 5 packs of mobs for example, i'll pass.
LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity.
I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already
Yeah, exactly :P
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
he mean with no subscription. Im waiting for that too.
It's sort of a depressing commentary on the state of Internet community in this day and age when the first thing that pops into someone's head when they prepare to write a glowing review is "I hope I'm not mistaken for a social network marketter out seeding buzz"
You could say the same thing in the opposite.
The object should be to read any and all reviews from people to get a general concensus... completely disregarding the "big name" reviews of course.
