Heh , it's Age of Conan all over again , and I can already see where this game is going , TSW , down the toilet. A thread earlier was asking if Funcom was becoming a top-tier Dev , I hope all this crap anwsers your questions.
TSW will start off with a sub fee? within a year it will be brought down to the F2P level.
A good example of a CEO who resigned from the company was Steve Jobs because of his terminal illness. Since that point, Apple was doing bad and not even his predecessor can keep up to him. My point exactly.
Really, and the illuminaty spiked your thoot paste.
FC is working on another big MMO, and has several other projects. In fact Aas is apparently being partially helming the MMO thye are doing for LEGO.
Weird, no, the game director and producer gets all cool (while having so far a smooth launch) but according to you the CEO resigns (but stays within the company, and doesn't even take vacations, just a change of position) while this is happening?
Makes no sense.
But then, some people do believe we live on a Flat Earth.
and more importantly - its a MUCH better game than AOC. never played AO, so couldn't comment.
OP has got me worried though, worried about EA takeover. I mean EA cant make a mmo in house to save their lives all their 2 good mmos - uo & daoc were bought in. Makes me worried they buy a good one in to save embarasment from swtor.
I just don't see FunCom as a good 'buy' for EA.
And if EA were to buy FunCom they wouldn't have ousted the current CEO like this. This news actually means EA is not going to buy FC.
Yes, EA has exec on FC's board but CEO of Acti-Blizz also sits in the board of Coca-Cola.
No, Coca-Cola is NOT buying Acti-Blizz. :P
I Think you fail to see that he rather have a developing role then a day to day operational job. He is tooooo creative to be stuck in a boring ceo role. His assets Are in the creation so its a great solution for funcom.
And people like you who respond with nothing substainative to add clearly shorten the thread, amirite?
Then where's the outcry from the players then? The only people dissing this game are the ones not playing it right now.
truth.
"Gee, because the CEO himself doesn't stand by this game... I think I'll wait a few months down the line to see if it actually retains people to give it a try."
Yeah, be bathed in the wrath of my 'outcry' and my ultimate 'diss'. lol

As far as you can see on the reviws all over the internet, even on places like this where apparently people can only bash other people's prefered games, people that has actually played the game don't consider it bad. So your comparison, so far is not valid, or if it is... it would be about people investing in stock perceive as good.
Carrotsan seems to be more interested in economics then video games.
Really? You don't say and I have a website dedicated to my gaming. Not to mention a streamer. Really? And I know java, c++, accounting, busn laws, corp finance and auditing standards ... interesting ... ?
Carrotsan seems to be more interested in economics then video games.
I'm not going to lie I play 4-5 hours of video games a day but I am starting to get more interested in economics of them. Maybe due to age? or due to many are boring.

Then what do you want? Looking at your sig and post history, you seem to like other genres of games and don't like mmo, which is fine and great, but what's stupid is the insane amount of hate you have for the game. I can understand fan wars are annoying, but i don't get to a point of having the sick passion in game failing you have.
You see, i never have and never will give a flying fu** about game success or sales or awards whatever, because it doesn't have anything to do with how much fun i have in them. If TSW fails, so what? Are you going to go "Nah nah nah nah i told you. I win. The game failed" Whatever you want dude. I know i'll have fun in TSW ina few months when i pick it up. So, carry on i guess.

i didn't say the game was bad. It's more fitting for a single player as in fallout, but with mediocre graphics. MMO wise it wouldn't be a challenge for GW2, WoW and others. That's my final note on it. Overall, the mechanics of TSW is rather bad. Who in this day and age would go uninefficient in tool wise mechanics. No one use the Scrolls to distribute stacked items. It's all about efficiency, 'type and divide'. Not to mention, I was a beta tester for TSW all throughout till the NDA finally was done with, I disclosed everything truthfulyl as a realist. Why would I even lie about the game. I'm not even their marketer. I post everything as it is. I even gave the game a lient 7/10. Don't say I bashed the game. It is what it is. I already said the game would still be bugged even on launch from a PRIOR WEEK. And did it come true? Yes, it did and its the same stuff over and over again. 'The Black House Tier 3/4' quest for example, the follow the bird when your dead quest (was never bugged all through beta, butON LAUNCH IT WAS???!) and others. Shotgun wasn't bugged at all for 3 betas, but on the 4th??! Not to mention, I did a good review on the 7/10 and Lyrrhea said it was a flame and she removed it. So, it's on Amazon, so congrats on no reason of removing or closing any of my threads on the actual TSW main forum site.

Unfortunaly, it seems the general video game community is more interested in everything regarding video games except for actually playing them and having fun.
I guess the best analogy i have is: "Games nowadays are not about enjoyment. They're like sports teams and the people become their fanbases. The fun is about winning and beating the other team/game"

Single Play Game contents = fun, but its a short term happiness. For even more happiness, a challenge is necessary for why there's PVP, grouping, etc. There's no reason for why I should state more of the obvious because it should already be known in human nature. Humans are socializing beings and not quite the opposite.

Not bashing at all old chap. Just stating the obvious and the truth. Say if I know that an IPAD will explode if you cross a certain country border. Wouldn't you want know that disclosure or you rather want to die not knowing if you do somehow coincidentally do so happen to do that act.

So, you're more of a pvp, sandbox mmo type of fan? I so, i'm too. But i like TSW because, while a solo friendly themepark, it still provides an awesome, fun experience for being what it is. What makes em sad is that there's not enough variety in the genre for higher quality mmos. However, just because i have a prefered style of gaming, doesn't mean i hate other types.

The underlined bit, that is because you are a real gamer. And you have exposed a problem with the mentality that the gaming industry is about money. This is what Blizzard apparently thought when they designed D3 and well, to me that is not cool or fun.
I know we are in an economic crisis, but when I play games, I just want to escape, not think about whether FC flubbed it, or the CEO resigned to take another position and that spells DOOM before the product is even out of the gate.
To others like Carrotsan85, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the damned game for what it is. If you score it at a 7/10, that is already pretty good. If you don't like it, move onto something else. No one is forcing you to play the game if you don't like it, but whinging about a bunch of economic doom and gloom where there might be none is really a waste of time.
I think that TSW could be a sleeper hit, a bit like EVE, as long as the game is pretty polished and doesn't go through a real FC launch. It fits a niche, so yeah, it might not ever have WoW numbers, but it could still be successful, and if it retains customers over a long period of time, it should be more than alright.
There is nothing here. But always funny how the haters jump on any opportunity to bash a new game into the ground.
Being a CEO for a company for so long as he did is a tough job (especially after AO and AoC launch and dealing with the aftermath).
He still owns a jitload of shares, so financially he is safe and sound.
For whatever reasons, most likely (and not uncommon) for private reasons he steps down and takes a different (less demanding) role within the company and gives someone else within the company the opportunity to climb up and promote to CEO and take the helm.
And like he said, he already wanted to step down a while ago, but wanted to see TSW through and launch first, before stepping down. Nothing wrong with that.
The game launched flawlessly! One of the best MMO launches to date.
Seriously tho... this thread is just utterly ridiculous.

I don't hate on any games. I just state the truths IMO. I don't like people who entice people as if it were an advertisement. Just give me the specs and done. I don't need Target's, COMPUSA's, .... years old computers. I can simply exam the specs and I know if its good or bad. It's no different from assessing this game. I already know the game has a good storyline, but how long will it last. I'm a full-time worker and I've been playing beta for this game. One zone took me about 1-1 1/2 days to clear it all. So, approximate that rate of clearing with the number of zones w/ boring PVP. I estimated a total of less than a month of entertainment and thereby leading to a bad investment. This is IMO.

Those are minor issues compared to other MMO launches the past years.
I have been playing ever since Early Access and haven't been disconnected a single time, didn't experience any lag and only encountered ONE bugged quest (Men in Black Vans in Kingsmouth), which I petitioned and got resolved within one and half hour by a GM.
The AH is no big deal, as most people are busy playing and enjoying the game and get grip on the basics, with most quests rewards being for own use in the beginning anyway.
So yes..... this was a flawless launch in my book!
