Just like the 2 above said, B2P! I won't pick F2P or P2P. Reminds me of how voting for our President's work. Offering me no real choice but making one settle for the lesser of 2 evils. Hence, why a NO VOTE speaks volumes.
And the ones where you buy the box but have no sub are included in the f2p category?
For myself, once GW2 is out I've no interest in paying any subs.
The OP is asking us whether we prefer to pay for something rather than having it for free?? Reminds me of the polls asking people if they would rather pay fewer taxes... of course we want to pay less and of course we like free things! Having said that, I agree with Gaia_Hunter, there are so many variables involved with mmos, it's not as simple as F2P vs P2P.
I also agree with the highlighted sentence, once GW2 is out (if it's as good as I think it will be), I can't see myself paying any subs. I guess my thought process would be: "well... if GW2 is this good and its B2P, why would I ever pay monthly subs to play WOW, Rift, Tera, SWTOR and TSW; surely they could also be B2P". I also think Cinos is right... B2P is where it's at!
B2P just tends to be F2P with a box price, particularly so if the B2P game also has a cash shop, which, is something thats becoming more prevalent.
Difference is that some games, such as WOW, have a cash shop, charge for the box price and on top of that still charge you monthly subs... though its free to lvl 20.
Well assuming P2P means subscription model then I expect F2P or a low barrier B2P will be the standard in the future.
F2P is still currently stigmatized but I do think it will be the standard for most games( in the League of Legends model i expect).
Having once been poor gaming addict and now a much less poor recovering gaming addict I don't have much problem in some people with more money than time subsidizing the game for those with more time than money if that creates a better product and a healthier population/community.
Definitely Buy to Play, and having a cash shop that contains no real Pay to Win items is acceptible. Of course, like stated numerous times already, GW2 has killed the whole subscription concept for me. Cancelled the few subs I had (WoW, Eve) months ago waiting for this.

GW2 is a F2P game with a box price, thats the only real difference between it and a great many other F2P games that are already out there, so while that might be the future of F2P gaming, you can't really apply the same criteria to the P2P games. Which only really go F2P when they are 'failing' usually as a last ditch attempt to try and gain some revenue from their IP before the game sunsets etc. And while that might be something of a generalisation, its imo, a pretty accurate one.
Way too simple of a question. Depends on many factors for me.
Is the game good, quality, etc IMO? No. I want F2P to not waste box or sub money on it. If others like iy, no problem. I don't like it,i won't waste money.
Is the game good, quality, etc IMO? Yes. In that case:
Is it just to play for a little while and leave, like i plan with TSW and GW2? If yes, i don't care much for the pricing model. F2P, B2P, P2P, whatever. Since i always wait for price drops, i never waste much money. If i have fun, it's worth it.
is it to play long term and dedicated myself to it and does the mechanics of the game support it? Yes, i want P2P with no cash shop, but unfortunaly, everything in the future will have it in some for.
I have not bought and subbed to an MMO in a longtime as most are just clones, and when you are burned on both PvE dungeon and PvP grinding for gear and just want a game you can really enjoy and have fun with your choices become even more drastically reduced..
Due to GW2 B2P is what i prefer..
Subscription is the number 2 method but only if the game is exceptional which no release in years has been to me..
F2P i will not waste my time with at least until some western style MMos come out, all the current f2p are grindfests..
F2P and B2P have to have cash shops to support them and there will always be a need to buy items and spend more money in these shops. You will probally end up spending more than you would on a sub..

Please f2p/b2p go away in the mmorpg industry..
"Always?" I don't think that means what you think it means. To be fair, there are plenty of F2Ps with overbearing cash shops, but people really need to stop making obscenely over-generalized statements. Many F2Ps do not require any cash shop puchases to stay current or on top, and even when they do, can still be cheaper than 15$ a month (plus potential box plus cash shop plus expansions).

So you are saying that we must jugde with deferent way the F2P games from P2P games
P2P I wont play an mmo with.a cash shop,of any kind.
You know, it seems like TSW might start a trend with subs and cash shop.
Oh, it most likely will. Trust, i hate it, and i don't like cash shops at all, and i like TSW, but, i'm almost certain that if Funcom announces the cs is very porfitable, every dev will know they can get away with it.
An dit's true, they can, because the majority of players is ok with it.
You know, it seems like TSW might start a trend with subs and cash shop.
Failcom already knew their game would fail as a subscription based service so they added the CS from the start. There was no point to add extra cost by having to redesign it later. Anet is doing the same thing with GW2.
Show me a game that can catch and hold my interest for more than a few weeks and I'll gladly pay to play it.
Problem is, I've already played WoW and handing me another game that is just an inferior version re-skinned isn't going to cut it.

TSW is only following the trend which has already been in practise for quite sometime and just expanding on it.
what other mmo has sub and cash shop?
Wow and Tera for example. Like i said trend was always there, TSW is expanding on it with more items in cash shop.
Even Fallen Earth had an item shop with monthly sub but it went F2P after few months.
Although the OP I was replying to mentions CS of any kind, like you mention they would be the first to have a CS that actually looks like a CS. What wow and Tera have are a bit different than the standard CS.
Comments
Depends of the title quality.

Currently playing: GW2
Going cardboard starter kit: Ticket to ride, Pandemic, Carcassonne, Dominion, 7 Wonders

GW2 has it right and I wish TSW had been B2P.
B2P just tends to be F2P with a box price, particularly so if the B2P game also has a cash shop, which, is something thats becoming more prevalent.

I play all F2P like P2P with monthly subs as it give me access to all the content game has to offer. So i couldn't vote on the poll
F2P is just a gimmick nothing more.
You really need to add B2P
So you are saying that we must jugde with deferent way the F2P games from P2P games
P2P I wont play an mmo with.a cash shop,of any kind.
I will not play a game with a cash shop ever again. A dev job should be to make the game better not make me pay so it sucks less.
You know, it seems like TSW might start a trend with subs and cash shop.
