At least it was in Canada. If it were the US, he probably would have been shot and killed instead of stabbed and alive.
If it were in the US, they'd make a teenage not-the-least-factual warning movie about it, promoting hysteria.
Or don't we remember Mazes and Monsters?
Damn. That's the ESRB, isn't it?
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

Hopefully WoW and the gaming industry doesn't get a bunch of knee jerk freak out reactions over this. It really has nothing to do with WoW and more to do with an unbalanced person becoming unhinged. It happens with lots of things. Heck there have been riots over the outcome of sports.
Heh. Make sure for the movie he drinks too much, and molests children, in addition to his Canadian tendencies.

This reminds me of the time I heard a story about an argument on Guild Wars that involved a dispute of some kind between two guilds and concluded with one of them discovering the address of the other, flying to his location and killing him. I cannot provide the source as I'm not even certain it is true but I imagine you can find similar stories on the internet.
Geeze.. You know if this doesn't give gamer's a bad name I don't honestly know what does. I mean, I know I get succumbed into a game and zone out and whatnot. But geeze, this kind of gives the government a reason to want to control what games we play and whatnot.
I definately think he should try to do something else with his life other than stab someone over his. Especially if he's THAT upset about it.

Toronto has actually had a lot of problems with gun violence lately. It's not very different than the states. I know because I live in the greater toronto area...
T-Dot is a pretty poor example, it's always had serious crime problems, same with Van City.
Other than those examples, the majority of the countries citizens are pretty civil and easy going. Obviously there will be exceptions, but that is inevitable.
Not to break the parade, but he wouldn't of been shot and killed... Unless it's Texas your referring to. Most other states nowadays he would just get tried in court and perhaps put in jail for life or for quite awhile. And it is really terrible to have to hear about someone in this kind of situation.
No one should get stabbed or shot or anything over a game.
So this guy goes over to a neighbors house where he hears an altercation occuring... and then is stabbed. It seems to me this whole thing could have been avoided if he had just not went over to a persons house who was screaming and acting irrational.
Sure the guy didn't deserve to be stabbed, but I mean common sense here people, if someones acting crazy, don't be near them, don't antagonize them, get the heck out of there!
I'm not getting it.
Every responce, but this one, has just been OMG he stabbed the guy.
WTF was the dude doing going to his neighbors house to begin with? He heard an altercation? If you think something is happening that warrants attention, call the effing cops.
Article should read "Man lacking common sense gets stabbed by another man over WoW". Two stupids don't make for sympathy.
torture the guy with the knife. Tie him up and slowly destroy / disenchant every piece of epic gear from all his WoW characters, then delete em one buy one, then troll the battlenet forums very hard so blizz bans his account. Then break all his WoW discs..... oh man, sweet torture. [mod edit]
seeing how many people have died or been injured over WoW... im amazed that no country as of yet has block its access... lolololol where are the self rightious groups clamering for change on WoW issues??? they pop out of the woodwork if you say same sex marrage or the like.. yet they dont care about WoW's death toll
shamful dispray...
i guess the victim had a higher level or a better dodge
Before WoW this type of news could have never been possible.
The community have went downhill when MMORPG become mainstream. Remember the DAoC days or even earlier? The MMORPG community was much more mature back then even though it was smaller.
I am not blaming WoW for this incident since it is the stabber who is to blame, but player as a population shapes the environment which game developers design games, and the game shapes the players as well.
MMORPG have become a vicious downward spiral. Either developers need to stop trying to please childish players just for a quick buck or the player population have to become more mature in general. Wow got millions into the MMORPG industry, but whether that is good or bad is really hard to say. Surely the industry grew, but the quality of games fell off a cliff, and the community became puerile.

hehe So he tips his hat between beatings.
Here, fixed that for ya

Almost guaranteed, one more reason I'm glad to be a proud Canadian.
Sad situation to hear about though, no doubt about that. All over a game no less.

Nerds these days....
Isn't the new trend in the US to eat your victim after stripping naked?
And by the way, the victim was probably a Guild Wars 2 player. Since he was downed but not defeated.
WoW must have dumbed down the assaulter's IQ sanity.

Meanwhile, at the Blizzard HQ, Blizzard twists it's Snidely Whiplash mustache: "Ehehehe, it's all coming together nicely. Eheheh."
Sorry, that was the first thing to came to mind for me.
You know what's fun about chaos? I do, but I won't tell.
Good thing it wasn't an enchanted weapon......lol
Bad joke I know but couldnt help it. Hope the guy gets what he deserves.
It's new, it's fresh, I like it. +10 points to you, sir.

Just substitute Guild Wars 2 for WoW and see what my crystal ball sees. The way some people here act about that game is kind of creepy!
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

As a Canadian, I'm sure the attacker apologized. Followed quickly by an apology from the victim. Sorry.
an apology is not enough after a murder attempt. I would take as many millions as possible on court.
Heroic to say the least.
