GW2 @ discount for around $48 (limited time)

aeolus811twaeolus811tw Member UncommonPosts: 9

I'm in no way of endorsing the vendor.

there is a limited time to get GW2 for around $48

<new info>

apparently there have been lots of complain on GMG forum, and they decided to gave a 20% off coupon for anyone on their first time purchase, the coupon expires at the end of this month.

coupon: COSYO-UDIDN-TGET1

now you don't need to get a free game but simply use the coupon to get the discount.

GMG is an official GW2 retailer as stated on GW2 official website, you can find it here

* thx for megera23 for sharing this info.

P.S: GW2 page to purchase is http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/ca/en/pc/games/mmos/guild-wars-2-digital-edition-na/

<Expired info>

----------------------

1. http://www.greenmangaming.com/

2. get a free game of the day and you should also receive a coupon that will provide 20% off

3. use the coupon on GW2...

4. register your newly gotten GW2 code via GW2 official site.

5. get ready for BWE and release day.

the free game purchase does not ask for CC info, and you do not need to download it to obtain the coupon.

I don't think that this should be posted on a forum.....

but for those of you who are interested in this, green man gaming has a very good reputation. But again....should not be posted on a forum. >.<

    Why would you think that?

I think it's appropriate. Lots of people still haven't bought it here, and this is probably the cheapest price we'll see for a long time

    Why would you think that?

Because its advertising and the rules state that is not allowed.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Being friendly and giving advice so people can save a little cash is advertising? I am positive that the moderators are more than capable of doing their job and deciding this for you.

It is advertising if aeolus811tw somehow profits from posting information about the sale, i.e. if he is affiliated somehow or working for the company. If so he should be paying mmorpg.com to advertise.

And since there is no way to know if the OP isnt working for that company, its still advertisement

In either event, it is a lot of hassle for a small discount. Secret World boxes are already discounted to $31.49 at Amazon (though the download versions are not), so I am sure GW2 boxes will be discounted shortly after release as well. It's always risky going through an unknown retailer.

  • aeolus811twaeolus811tw Member UncommonPosts: 9

I found this deal on canadian deal hunting forum (the fairly famous one) and tried it myself to obtain a key for my friend.

Figured people might want to save money off the original $60 so I posted here.

If mod believe this is advertising for the company then feel free to delete the thread

I don't get any profit from this nor will I get any negative conpiracy commentry from this, if you don't want to save $12 feel free to order from GW2 official site themselves.

    Thank you

Actually, GMG is on the list of official retailers for GW2, which you can find here.

So, if you post a link to a Youtube user that gets money from advertisements he gets more money because you posted his video here. So can we no longer share youtube videoes as well?

That isn't the point. YouTube isn't a retail place. Otherwise you could say--hey! the mods are letting this isntance go, because they are getting more site traffic, which is giving them more money through their gigantic TSW and LoL ads in the background :P
The point is, it is for a retail site, and, though its a good deal, there should either be a official thread for them or no threads at all, whether a mod steps in or not (just like giving away keys, etc. YouTube videos also promote chatting about the game, not chatting about economics and advertising like this does :P

And I don't know why anyone would not trust GMG >.< That's like not trusting Steam :P

$48 is a great price. GMG isn't an unknown retailer. I don't see the problem.

Now if someone posted "Buy from GMG because they are cool." and GMG wasn't lower than everywhere else then I'd call that unacceptable... but posting a sale so that people can save some money doesn't seem like a bad thing to me.

  • PhryPhry Member LegendaryPosts: 11,004

i don't know, seems a bit iffy to me, it may well be perfectly legit, but, this isnt the first time have seen GMG advertising on the forums, money off coupons etc, which, may well be good information to have for people who are thinking of buying those things, im just not all that comfortable with the 'advertising' myself, but im Mr Paranoid and see conspiracies etc etc everywhere. Maybe GMG would be better off approaching MMORPG directly if they wanted to advertise, rather than, through this particular medium, if thats whats happening that is image

Whatever is was, already ended. I don't see any free game in there right now, and there's no indication on whether any purchase (like those 75c games) will give any key.

They won't. They had the same sale a couple nights ago so they might do it again but if it's over then it's over, for now.

I bought my copy from GMG a couples weeks ago for $45, and I got registered and got my beta key with no problems.

  • hundejahrehundejahre Member Posts: 339

I didn't see any "free games" so I looked at their forums, there was an issue with someone not receiving their code, so GMG has posted a 20% off code in the forum that they say anyone can use until the end of the month. I bought a second copy of GW2 with the code and so far no issues.

  • LakytusLakytus Member Posts: 59

I did this last night.  I got the deluxe version for $64, which is almost the same price as the standard version.  I don't see the free game there now so it might be over.  You don't have to give them a credit card, you can use PayPal if the deal is still going on.  I already registered the key at Arena.net and everything is fine.

Hmmm, I am thinking about picking up another copy. I want to see if it runs on my wife's PC before I do though. Hopefully it will still be available in a few days ;)
