Ha! I thought clicking on this thread was going to provide a link to some brand new update or something. I think OP is trying to insult the game, but the jokes on him as all MMO's are gonna end up FTP at some point.

not necessarily gemstone and dragonrealms are still paid games.. same with wow and eve and many others that released many years ago.. unless you consider a free trial F2P
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg
In light of the state of the industry, that statement is akin to saying "in some years, we will die..."
Some is partly or for the most part "undefined" yet as we have seen in many years past that MMO's have a life cycle that is now to include F2P. So if we understand the life cycle of an MMO, we understand that eventually ALL mmo's will go F2P and if they don't they go straight to closing down.
You could probably also make the statement that "in some years, all mmo's will shut down"

Heck, AO (11 years old) and AoC are still P2P with limited free 2 to Play options.
if you want to do dungeons the newer areas, raids... in AoC you need to pay. If you want to play AO for free you don't have perks, access to any kind of good gear, the alien areas and raids, the SL areas and raids... and everything else beyond the most basic version of the game, you need to pay.
So whenever TSW goes "F2P" it would still be P2P with a limited free option. Dungeons, likely several weapon types and maybe even outer ability wheel skills, plus several mission will require payment.
The supposed "F2P" is most like a limited trial in most games.

Speaking of jokes.. read his post history.
But in all seriousness.. who knows if or when the game does go f2p but if if someone makes a statement like a gaming going f2p in a few months, atleast let them pretent to back up their reasoning behind it, Im not even asking for any kind of.. proof to back up their claims.
"Torquemada... do not implore him for compassion. Torquemada... do not beg him for forgiveness. Torquemada... do not ask him for mercy. Let's face it, you can't Torquemada anything!"
in some months, TSW will be F2P like the others...no doubt about it.
I sincerely hope not because that means "people" like you will start playing....no thanks.
For the record im pretty sure your right and it will eventually go F2P, but at this moment in time i'll enjoy the exclusivity of not being drowned in a sea of mmo hoppers, dregs and leaches.
Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy

Yep. That's a fairly good assumption about just about every MMO - eventually it'l be F2P.
Meanwhile, TODAY, TSW is a great game and available to play if you're willing to pay the sub. Just like every other great MMO that has ever launched.
My question is:
If going F2P is an indicator of a game failing, How would we know if a game like GW2 failed?! Would they suddenly go Subscription based?
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
Price does not dictate quality. It is just a barrier to entry
I have paid $15 for crappy food, but paid $2.50 for the greatest chicken biscuit I've ever tasted.
So what if the game goes F2P or not? It's still a VERY good game. And if F2P is an inevitability, then imho I think it will be handled with the same care and professionalism as the game's launch.
Gogogo TSW! The game is great so far and I hope that it continues to grow from here on out.
Great year for MMOs.

TSW will follow the same business model as all its games. This is overlooked by everyone for some reason.
The game will eventually have a paid expansion. Some time after they will allow the origional content to be free, cash shop will be re-enforced with items set for free players. Expansion content will offer unbeatable items and higher progression ability so you may stomp free players at will.
Even with the disater start both AO and AoC had, and the many, many predictions of f2p, it took both of them YEARS to offer the unlimited trial with origional content version of f2p. Dont expect this game is just going to buck that trend, especially since its of much higher quality.
Anyway, you think people who cant afford 50 cents a day on a game are going to have the computer needed to fully enjoy TSW?
meh it will be F2P in the future. It might be Solomon Island is F2P in the future and all the other content is locked out. If it gets Funcom more money to make more content, it's all good for me.
Game is already great and I'll be there for long haul. Doesn't mean I won't drop out every now and then to check out GW2 in WvW. But when I want me some kick ass PvE, I have a home now.

That may be true, but it's still the best themepark MMO I've played since 2004.

you mean I'll be able to play one of my favorite games in years for free? Why is that bad?
For his 14th post in 6 years i would have hoped for at least some substance.
Some people think this is already true...
It is the other kind of monkeys that will rule the earth.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

It is a viable and lucrative business model that helps to foster community growth.
Free to play does not mean a game is bad. This game is great regardless of business model.
