If you think throughly, night release is the only correct way to do it.
They have to release the game at some time of a chosen day.
If they do it at Noon for US time, then EU will be screwed because they'll get to play only from late evening, this is very unfair to europeans.
If they do it at Noon EU time, however, then EU and US get to first play the game from the same exact time - from morning. Of course, US players arguably get a chance to play the game "earlier", meaning in the night, but at the same time, this can be seen as a negative point, since it will kinda "force you" to do it.
So, this is a very nice compromise. EU gets a normal noon start, and US gets a better from one point of view and worser from other point of view start.

3am EST on a Saturday for the NA release is probably one of the worst "Head Start"...Start times i've ever seen in my long experience with "Head Start" programs.
The norm is around 3pm EST or Noon EST....sometimes i've even seen 6pm EST, but 3am EST?! Wow, talk about not knowing which foot the sock goes on.
=| Guess my family won't be server first until they wake up like normal human beings around 8am.

This is an OUTRAGE! I can't beleive they would do this to us here in NA!!! What happened to OUR rights, OUR priviledges! This means that I will be rather sleepy when the game starts up! Now I have to buy an energy drink! Do I get any money back for the extra costs that this is going to put on me? NO! Now I understand how this game is P2W! If you can afford to pay for a european vacation near the end of August, you can be more awake to play in WvW when the game first releases! Why didn't I see this before!!!

I'm very happy about this. I have the weekend to play and am taking 27 and 28 Aug of vacation time to get years of GW2 desire out of my system.
Umm who cares if its 3 am or 3 pm. Go to sleep, wake up, play it in the morning. We've been waiting years, one nap doesn't last long lol.
