It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
example 1:
someone posts a topic, using a false term in it. you correct him, and get reported for it. nothing bad. sure.... funny thing, the mods actually GO for it and issue a warning...
example 2:
random user creates a troll topic, you mention it, ask what use this topic actgually has but trolling and BAM. someone reports you, mods issue another warning. not for the OP, but for you mentioning it.
is there actually any one watching what the mods are doing here? or are they allowed to do what they want, no matter if it's logical or not?
or do i have to sleep with some ops to get him to like me? is that what's the rules are? find an ops friend, create troll topics and be fine?
"believe me, mike.. i calculated the odds of this working against the odds that i was doing something incredibly stupid and i did it anyway!"

All mods are different and they all view forum etiquette differently, some let posters get away with murder, others will banhammer anyone with a harsh tone, and others may just not like you.
Such is life on the internet.
Example 1: Are you sure you are correcting him/her or just trying to force your own interpretation of what the term means? There is a fine line. Also are you just correcting them or are you implying either directly or indirectly that the OP is stupid or otherwise ignorant?
Example 2: Is it an actual Troll topic or just something you personally disagree with? There is a fine line here as well. Most people here accuse others of Trolling without any knowledge of what Trolling actually is. Also are you calling out the topic for baiting others to reply negatively (What trolling actually is) or are you simply calling the OP a Troll? If it's the latter you are guilty of name calling which is just as much against the rules as Trolling.
I think you need to ask yourself if breaking the rules to call out a rule breaker or to correct someone is the best course of action to take. If you see someone trolling or otherwise breaking the rules replying to them in any way just feeds the situation. This is what the report function is for. Report them and move on. Also if you think someone is wrong correcting them is ok but doing so by implying they are stupid or ignorant is not. Correct them by giving your argument on the topic and leave out any personal attacks or name calling.

No matter what site you go on that has a messageboard with moderators, there will be preferential treatment going on towards certain posters, especially if they contribute in some way in form of blogs which brings in more users. There will be bias and there will be unfair moderation going on, to a less or bigger extent without categorizing MMORPG.com with my post. Then there's the lazy factor, where one or two moderator deletes and send warnings without reading the post or context, simply because they are swarmed with reports. That's just a fact of life, when you have real people with opinions and feelings running the show.
The good thing about MMORPG.com is, you have somebody that often overturns these often ridiculous warnings. I suggest you go that route before getting any angrier
I should just start printing out my warnings and bans from various forums. It would be glorious.
Also they're probably going to lock this thread because they don't like the discussion of moderation.
